Our sax quartet in HS did this awesome version of the Beatles' 'When I'm Sixty-Four'. Oh. My. Google. It had this amazing soprano sax part. I must have peed myself every time I heard it. ;_;

stare My Band director always forgets me when he calls out the different parts in practice. I know, I know, so he has a condensed score. You'd think he could remember the poor little tenor sax. Then again, I just play along anyway if I have the part. I'm the third single-loudest instrument in the band (still working on beating that french horn and tuba... >>;;; ), so he can't really ignore me that well.

Oboes pwn all. They require so much love and attention, more than a lot of instruments, especially if you have a very nice wooden one.
And oboe players lips are strong. Stronger than a lot of other instruments, so much relies on the lips. My private instructor was voted best kisser in highschool, and she claims she owes it all to the oboe.
We're cool like that. cool
And trust me, oboes are only annoying if the player is bad. Oboes are absolutely awesome in the right music with a good player. Think music like LOTR, a lot of oboe is in that and I bet you never noticed it. surprised

My school's band is really tiny compared to most of your guys' bands (30-40ish) but I'm also from a small school, just over 1 000 students, so it's understandable I suppose. I say this so you can understand we don't have most of the less common instruments.
When I double tenor sax I sometimes get ignored simply because the BD forgets that I'm playing tenor sweatdrop Our bari was rarely forgotten in our band until he stopped showing up this year and then quit.
I get to play alto clarinet cues in one song (on my alto sax) and probably some others that I can't quite remember now on both saxes. Meh, it's winter break. And you all know what that means... time to work on solo stuff pirate

We actually have an alto clarinet that we use occasionally, but not as often. Two bass clarinets, 5 tenors, 1 bari (an alto is switching to bari though), and that's about it. They normally are remembered by the director because their part is one of the more important parts, and so he usually remembers to call on them to see if they're doing it right.

all of you r forgetting the MOST underaprreciated instrument in the concert band but in my opinion the most beutiful, the euphonium, it has some great parts in some music and especially in higher grade music though in the stuff my band plays i just switch between the tuba and the trombone and tenor sax parts the parts are usually a combonation of al of those the most euphoniums i have seen in the band was 4 and that was in the college band that i attend (but im only in high school(sophmore)) and the rest of the players were rejects from the trupet section confused no offense or anything but some of those trumpets stink,the only way they can keep their rep up is by sending all the bad ones to the horn and euphonium sections

More news from the land of forgetten and ignored a.k.a. the second row dead in front of the bd where me and basson friend sit,in the LM band room! Today we got music for concert season and bd was saying if you see the same rythem twice it's a theme. So me and Lindsy friend looked at our music and saw this: line of tied half notes, half line of tied half notes, another line of tied half notes and just for fun another line of tied half notes, please keep in mind there was no note changeing eaither. So we just sat there, stared and said, "That's a theme?!" and started busting up.

I don't mind being forgotten. I play bassoon and every-other-week the Director had us memorize little dodads and play them for a grade in front of everyone else. He always forgets us giving us extra time to practice.

Aww I love euphonium! My concert band is so small that we only have a complete flute and sax section. Every other section needs at least another player or two.We also have no euphonium players, no tuba players, one trombone, a bass player on some occassions, I could go on but its quite sad, especially considering we are a highschool right in the middle of my town. crying
