Joshua was late; he knew that. He also knew that it was better to be late than never showing up. He was dressed in his best Valentines attire-- his mother had insisted on his wearing red. It brought out his eyes, she liked telling him. The boy was silently thankful that she disliked pink as much as he did.
He recgonized several; Bishop, Kaimi, Rook, and others. He didn't know them all by name, but he had seen some of them at the Christmas party. He made his way over to the drinks. He'd spotted Bishop and Kaimi, and decided to talk to his friends. "Hi Kaimi, Bishop." He said smiling. "Happy Valentines Day."

Kisala bounded into the room. She'd been looking forward to this all week, and no amount of tantrum throwing on Ajiiel's part (why had she wanted to come anyways? Ajiiel hated stuff like this where she had to be social with non-criminals!) was going to stop her. Shiori had managed to get the other girl off of her just long enough for the tousled teen to make her exit.
A small frown lit her lips when she got there, though. Only briefly, though, before she donned a smile again. So what if she didn't know any of these kids? It was an opportunity to meet some new people!
Heading over to the snacks table, the jeans-clad girl popped a few candies in her mouth and checked out the scene, trying to decide who to approach first. Then, she spotted Joshua and Bishop. While she didn't know either very well, she'd met them before and that was a start, so she headed over that direction, waiting for a good chance to interject herself into the conversation.

Joshua stopped and looked up. "Hi!" He said, cheerfully. Then, remembering that it was a holiday, he added, "Happy Valentines Day." He silently wondered if his friend Nataya would show up. He had a present for her, and wanted to surprise her with the card he had made.
How he hoped she would like it! He offered Kisa a Hersey's kiss, and dug in his pocket for three more. He handed one to Kaimi and Bishop, smiling. Then he unwrapped his, plopping it into his mouth.

She couldn't believe she was late! How could she have let herself sleep so long? It was supposed to have only been a small nap before the party, but she'd failed to wake up on time. She'd hurried out of the house, after saying good-bye to the twins and 'Zuba.
Nataya stepped in the room, feeling a bit awkward for showing up so late. She was donning a wispy lilac-colored sundress, and came bearing hand-drawn valentines with little heart-shaped Reese's cups taped to them.
She glanced around, recognizing a few people. She readjusted her hold on the bag, making her way over to the small group that had accumulated. "Happy Valentine's Day." she said, smiling brightly at every.

Joshua had spotted Nattie almost instantly. His smile brightened, making his eyes sparkle when he looked at her. "Happy Valentines Day!" He said happily, handing her a rather large card, folded in half. "I made this for you," He told her, smiling. "I hope you like it." Along with the card, he handed her a hersey's kiss.
He suddenly felt shy. What if she didn't like it? What if she hated it? What would he do then? Or what if she was allegeric to chocolate? That would be horrible!

Nataya blinked as a boy handed her a card and some chocolate. She didn't seem to associate this "new" boy with the toddler she'd known as Josh. He did seem familiar, though. "Thank you." she said, nodding once and smiling at him. She opened the card, reading it. Then it clicked. It was Josh. But, when did he grow? "Here!" she said, holding out one of her Valentine's out to him.

Joshua smiled at Nattie, though he had realized something. The last time he'd seen her, she'd seemed much taller. Had she shrunk? Oh.. He remembered. He'd grown. "Thank you," He said happily, looking at his card. Then his curiousity got the better of him.
"Do you like yours?" He asked, with a slight tilt of his head. "Mom helped me make it."

Nataya smiled brightly at him. "You're welcome." she said, glad that he seemed to like it. She would have felt a bit bad if he hadn't liked it. She then blinked at his question. "Of course I like it!" she said, giggling. "Why wouldn't I like it?" After all, Josh had taken the time to make her a valentine himself; how could she not appreciate and like it after that? "You did a wonderful job on it. Thank you, Josh."
"So, when did you grow?" she asked, curious. It had to have been recently; she'd just seen him when they were at the mall a while back, and he'd still been a toddler then. So when did the growth spurt happen?

Joshua smiled at his friend, he was delighted to know that she liked the card he'd made for her. He was also a bit surprised. He'd made the card while he was still a toddler; it wasn't very good. He didn't think so, anyway. Though, if she liked it, that was all that mattered. "I'm glad you like it," He said happily.
Josh had to think about it. "I don't know," He said. "I woke up like this." He paused in thought. "Maybe two days after we got lost in the mall?"

To be completely honest, Josh could have just scribbled on a piece of paper and Nataya would have liked it. After all, the way she figured it, he'd taken the time to make it for her, so she should like it. It was the thought that count, right?
"You haven't been a child long, then, have you?" the little fairy said, offering a small smile. "Have you gotten the hang of things yet?" If he still had a few things he wasn't sure about, she'd be more than happy to help explain them!

"No, I haven't." Josh agreed, frowning slightly. There were several things that he could have told Nattie about, though he didn't think she could fix any of them. "Well.. sometimes.." He started, frowning, "My mom's been falling asleep during my music classes lately. The teacher too. I don't know why."
He paused, and looked at his friend. "And yesterday.. I went to the mall for new clothes. A bunch of people kept staring and pointing at me! It made me feel bad. Mom just laughed."

Nataya blinked, looking confused. Falling asleep? Why would they go an do that? It seemed like an awfully rude thing to do! "Maybe they aren't getting enough sleep?" she suggested, not wanting to assume they were simply doing it out of lack of manners.
She frowned faintly. "Why would they stare and point?" she asked, tilting her head to the side. She couldn't believe Thali would just laugh. Mommas were supposed to make their children feel better when they were feeling bad, not find it funny. It seemed like such a mean thing to do, and Josh's mother seemed so nice.

Joshua shrugged. "Maybe. I think Mom's been having trouble sleeping because of her nightmares.." He said, before whispering, "She's going to have babies soon, and Dad said she has nightmares because of little things inside her. Called chem-uh.. I don't know what they're called, really.." He looked confused, before continuing.
"Mom didn't tell me why it was funny though... I think I'll ask Dad tomorrow. He'll know." Dads knew everything, right? Surely a dad wouldn't laugh.

Kisala nodded in greeting to Joshua and opened her mouth to say something just before he bounded off to greet Nataya. Shrugging, the girl decided that now would be a good time to start handing out Valentine's.
Hers were the pre-bought sort, her having little creative ability outside of music, but she'd made sure to attach a little candy to each one and to write the names of people she knew who might be there on them.
Slowly, she made her way around the room, giving ones with names on them to the people she did know, and ones with "Happy Valentine's Day!" written on them to those she didn't-- no reason to let people miss out just because she didn't have their names!

Joshua smiled as he was handed a Valentine. "Thank you, Kisa!" He said happily. "Oh, I'm sorry.." He frowned slightly; he felt bad for not making her one! "I'll make you one, too." He nodded up at her. He would; next time he saw her, he'd give her the nicest Valentine ever. With the exception of Nattie's.
