She nods to him, swimming back a bit. "I should get back to my studies....father will not leave on my own for too long."

She nods her agreement, "I will be here." She stays a moment longer, watching after him, then turns and hurries off herself.

When he pushes through to the clearing, she is over at the coral wall and is concentrating hard on a shimmery bubble that surrounds her. When she realizes that she's not alone, she looks up suddenly, the bubble disappearing.

"Oh. Hello Minkishi, you're just in time. Come, let's start you with some protective magic today!", she smiles faintly and motions him over. "I've been practicing on different forms of shielding, I think you might find it useful, unless you'd like to continue on the fire?"

She nods to what he says, looking up at him. "Excellent, you really are an amazingly fast learner. I think maybe fire is more of a natural ability to you than you might think.", she nods a bit and smiles a touch, "Ah yes, the bubble. That would be protection from physical, aerial, and magical attacks. Extremely taxing mentally for the sheer concentration it requires. However, the longer you hold it, the longer you are impervious."

"Oh yes, its one that I've worked very hard at.", she blinks at him, "Are you sure? Yes, yes, I suppose you are. Very well. pick a spot on the ground and stare at it, look inside yourself for a little golden ball of energy. You'll know it, it will be warm and soothing. Take that ball and start to stretch and pull at that ball until if forms a bubble. Then using all your will and concentration, make that bubble bigger."

She closes her eyes and concentrates, and a shimmery golden bubble grows to surround her.

Bathory lets go of her own and watches him carefully, laying a calming fin on his arm. "Frustration and anger will work against you, you must remain calm when you are doing this or you will not find it.", she swims up and taps at his chest, looking up at him. "Look here, stay calm, and don't use your eyes, feel your way to it. Find the warmth, find what makes you happy or content, it will be there."

Bathory smiles when she sees the golden bubble, going up to smile at him. "That was really well done Minkishi, very few beta could even hold it that long. You really are quite the fast learner. Here, why don't you sit and rest for a moment, then we'll try something a little less taxing. Perhaps the globe that resists magic.....I believe it would be beneficial to you."

She motions him to a mossy area and has him sit. "Try taking deep breaths and relaxing your mind."

Bathory looks at him for a long moment, then swims near, getting into his line of vision and looking up at him. "Would you like to know how long it took me to be able to pull the ball outward to where it surrounded me? Two weeks. Two weeks of nothing but intense mental training and practicing."

She shrugs a bit and smiles faintly at him, "When I say you are a fast learner, I mean that you are fast even by my own standards. I have been practicing these arts since I was a fry and yet...I have a long path ahead of me. I think yours will be much shorter."

Bathory nods, laying a fin on his arm. "I really do, you have great strength, you simply need to control and refine it. It is true that Kerrigor's line carries strong magic with it....but I wouldn't be surprised if your mother has some abilities as well. I can't see either my uncle or Kerrigor bothering with a beta that didn't have something interesting about them."

She nods to what he says, looking thoughtful for a moment, "Then I will help you. We will train here, everyday. And if, when the time comes, you still feel you are not strong enough, I will help you." She shrugs a bit and gives a wry look, "I....will deal with that as it comes. You need the help, so I will give it."
