"So, if you were looking after a fussy kit, and they wanted to go to the beach, and you have been there before, you can teleport the both of you to the beach and then back home when you were done?" Berlios breathed a sigh. "I would have loved to have had that power back when our group was first starting out. I would have taken Drizzt to the beach and watched him chase sand fleas." XD

Kaycee giggled. "That sounds funny. Who is Drizzt? The beach is a nice place to be, but I've never chased sand fleas before. Though they do have a way of crawling all over me when I fall asleep in the sand."

Berlios smiled at the image and looked a little wistful. "Drizzt......he was the very first kit I was able to look after. He was such a shy little thing....always hiding behind me. But he simply loved to chase crickets. I would imagine he would like to chase tiny hopping 'beach crickets.' Ah but.....he grew up, like they always do." He sighed a little and smiled at Kaycee. "Well, I suppose we should count ourselves lucky, eh? Most namrah and even many humans would love to never get older."

Kaycee smiled also but then her expression changed to that of deep thought. She liked being how she was but she always thought that one day she would grow up too. But maybe she was different than most namrah. She definitely knew she was different, but not in that way. She didn't want to think to hard about it at the moment and decided that it didn't matter how old she was. She beamed up at Berlios and said, "Let's go to the beach!"

Perking up at the thought of dancing among the sand fleas, Berlios smiled happily. "Yeah! That's a great idea! We can go to the beach and act our age for a change!" It sounded wonderful not having to be the one who looked out for everyone and stood on the sidelines while the others romped and played. "Are you gonna teleport us there?"

Kaycee was getting excited now, she just hoped she didn't fall asleep again and ruin all the run. She couldn't help just randomly falling asleep sometimes. Sometimes she would fall asleep when she wasn't even tired. But she thought that as long as her and Berlios were having lots of fun, she wouldn't fall asleep. She'd never chased sand fleas before, so she was happy for the new opportunity.
Kaycee nodded her head at Berlios's question and then held out her paw for him to grab hold. "On the count of three," she told him, and she closed her eyes and pictured the beach in her mind.

Taking hold of Kaycee's paw, Berlios tried to steady himself mentally by reminding himself just how fast it was, that his friend had done it countless times and never done anything like left pieces of herself all over the forest floor, that he'd love it at the beach and soon forget all about how teleporting feels like to him, like trying to squeeze yourself through a knothole. "One......t-two...." He was forming the three when he felt the sensation, and he squeezed his eyes shut as he suddenly landed on his knees in a hill of warm sand. Opening his eyes, he was greeted by pale sand stretching off into the distance, sparkling water, and a tiny haze of sand fleas that took flight at the pair's presence. "Three..." he breathed.

Kaycee had teleported them just after Berlios had said two. That's when the image of the sparkling beach had come into her mind and that's when it happened. She landed right next to him in the sand, it feeling nice and warm under her paws. She giggled and repeated his count of three.
Kaycee peeked her eyes open and looked around at the golden sand and crystal water. So very relaxing...and warm...Kaycee felt her eye lids get heavy and the sudden urge to lay down in the warm sad and fall asleep...
No...she must....stay...awake....for...the sand fleas...
Kaycee's head began to droop as the warmth and the nice sun started to get the best of her.

Berlios just stood there, taking it all in. Such a lovely place! Drizzt would simply love it here, with all the hopping sand fleas to chase and colorful ends of seashells poking invitingly out of the sand, just waiting to be dug out and admired.
He turned to smile at Kaycee and was surprised to find her dozing off, a cloud of sand fleas fast gathering around her. He reached out and shook her shoulder gently. "Hey, don't fall asleep. If you sleep here, the sand fleas'll get all over you. I bet they'll make your fur itch."

Kaycee giggled softly, still drifting to sleep, even though she was being shaken. She could feel the sand fleas gathering around her and she could understand what Berlios was saying to her, but despite that she was still falling asleep. She could still communicate while sleeping, so what was the big deal.
Her ear twitched at his words. "...they'll make your fur itch." Kaycee didn't like the sound of that. She twitched her ear again and then shook her head suddenly, shaking herself awake. She blinked her eyes a few times and then batted the sand fleas away with her paw.
"I'm awake!" she said, smiling apologetically to Berlios. She really didn't want to fall asleep and now that she was awake, she was again ready to have fun. She pounced on the sand fleas as they scattered away from her.

Berlios smiled as he watched Kaycee awaken and begin to chase the sand fleas. How he wanted to join in, but he still wasn't quite sure he knew just how to play. He had left that sort of thing for the kits he had always looked after, choosing instead to rest in the shade and watch. But it sure did look like fun.....
He raised a paw as a cloud of about a half-dozen hopped toward him almost in unison. He shot his paw out at the tlast second and dealt the living cloud a solid whack, chuckling as he watched the tiny hopping bugs scatter like a tower of blocks he had just knocked over.

Kaycee laughed and watched as they scurried back over towards her. Some of them scurried up her paws and crawled through her fur.
"They're on me, they're on me!" she yelled, and began trying to shake them off, and then rolling around in clean sand to try and squish them.

In spite of himself, Berlios found himself laughing as Kaycee rolled herself over in the sand to try and shake the fleas off. He ran over to her and started batting at her. "I'll get 'em!" Reaching over to try and reach the other side of her, he lost his balance and ended up falling on top of her. "Oof! Now they're on me too!" XD

Kaycee giggled and squirmed, now not only to get the sand fleas off her, but Berlios too, who had fallen on top of her and was covered in sand fleas as well! And he was right, they really did make your fur itchy. Then she remembered, this ought to be a good time to put her psychic powers to use to get rid of the sand fleas.
She focused her telekinetic energy onto the fleas and used Psychic to force them away from her and Berlios. She then teleported herself and Berlios a safe distance away so the sand fleas couldn't crawl back onto them.
The patch of sand they now resided on was free, for the moment, of any sand fleas, and Kaycee curled up and promptly fell asleep.

Still not used to the psychic surprises that Kaycee was so good at producing, all Berlios observed at first was that the itchy little pests no longer seemed interested in them. He blinked in amazement as they bounced away and turned to Kaycee. "Did you see tha-?"He felt a sudden lurch and shook his head in confusion as he found himself in an entirely different patch of sand. "Hey, did you...?" Turning to look at Kaycee, he chuckled when he saw her asleep, and moved slowly until he was laying beside her.
