Japi putting her business card in her sleeves was one thing, but putting all those books in there as well? That was unthinkable for Mary. “Um, yeah sure,” She gave Japi an odd look but started to put a book into the sleeve and was amazed when it worked.

“Holy crap, wow, you really do know about this magic stuff!” Mary exclaimed.

Lucy gave Erik a suspicious look as he took out the mirror, “No witches or monsters right? ‘Cause they aren’t nice. And presents that aren’t nice aren’t nice to give, but you gave me Arthur, so if it’s magic like Arthur then it’s okay cause Arthur is good magic, and you told me that so I guess it’s okay.” She rambled on for a few moments.

After a pause she seemed to collect herself a bit and oh so politely said, “I would like it very much if you gave me something,” with a slight blush tinge on her cheeks.

"It's amazing what you can put the 'of holding' enchantment on." Japi grinned, adding another book to her sleeve. "The only reason it works on these sleeves is that they actually have a pocket-like shape." She held out her kimono sleeve to display the shape. "In fact, geisha even used these sleeves to hold plenty of things, so long as they were light."

Once they had gotten all the books stowed safely, with her sleeves looking none the heavier, Japi gave Mary a quick hug. "I should really be going, or Lith is going to worry about us."

Erik was patient with her rambling. It gave him time to work up his courage, after all. He held out the mirror to her. "You can call me with this," he said. "If you're ever in trouble. And maybe I can help."

"Erik!" he heard his mother's melodic voice from the front of the store, but waited for Lucy to take the mirror before he would reply.

"I can see why it's useful!" Mary said chuckling a little as she returned the hug. "Well it was great meeting you, and maybe we can set up a playdate for Erik and Lucy one day!"

Lucy looked at the mirror and took it examining the edges, "Oooh, a magic mirror!" She giggled. "An Erik magic mirror, thank-you!" She said in a reverent tone.

"Do i just talk into it?" She asked not looking up from it the face of the mirror shining at her.

"I'd love that," Japi said. "I can arrange something at my place," she suggested. "It's plenty big." She indicated her sleeves again with a wink.

Erik wasn't coming yet. "I guess they're having too much fun," she laughed and started back for the little cafe.

"After you find me, yeah. You just have to think about me and look at it," he said. "So long as I've got a mirror like it, I can answer you and then we can talk through it." He didn't actually have one at the moment, having just given it away, but the last time he'd given his away, Japi had made him a new one by the next day, so it wouldn't be that bad, as long as Lucy didn't try and call him that soon. Maybe he should tell her?

"We should, i guess i could call you sometime, i'm just glad Lucy's making friends." Mary said, she smiled at Japi's insinuation about her home. It was a new world she was entering into, but it wasn't a scary one, just different.

"Ooh! Okay! Then you can scare the monsters away!" Lucy shrieked in joy and smiled at Erik. She wavered to give Erik a hug, but she still wasn't that comfortable with herself to do so. "Thank-you! Thank-you!" She said instead jumping up and down and spinning around.

Japi wavered a bit at the calling comment. "I don't exactly have a phone," she said. "I really should get one." She reached in her sleeve and fumbled about. "I don't have an extra mirror in here," she mumbled. "Oh, but Erik has one. I can give you that one and just make him a new one." She straightened out her sleeve again. "That's how my family communicates. It's kinda like a cell phone, but the kids can only call somebody they know who has access to a mirror. Any mirror can receive, but only one of my mirrors can make a 'call' out." She grinned at explaining her own creation.

Erik smiled. It was a rare thing for him to do, and it looked a little creepy, but it was at least sincere. He reached out for her hand as she twirled and stopped her spinning, then leaned down in a gentlemanly bow and gingerly kissed the back of her hand.

Of course, that was when his mother arrived. Erik blushed a little and stood to the side, trying to pretend he hadn't done that.

Japi just laughed.

"Interesting, a mirror phone, it's certainly a way to escape phone bills!" Mary joked. Japi did seem to lover her magic tricks. "But thanks, that would be awesome!." As Japi left to get Erik, Mary quickly moved to behind the counter where she had left some paperwork that needed to be finished and set it up on the counter by the cash register.

"Oh!" Lucy said as she felt Erik kiss her hand. She involuntarily flinched and pulled her hand back. It wasn't that she didn't like him, she just didn't like people touching her too much, at least not when she's not expecting it. She dipped down into a half curtsy half bow to match his gentlemanly like behavior as an apology. She also had the decency to look a little embarrassed about her reaction.

The she saw that Japi was there watching the small interaction that had just happened.

"Is Erik leaving now?" She asked looking sad.

"Yes," Japi replied sadly. "I'm sorry. But your mom said you two can play again sometime," she added swiftly. "And I think it's a great idea." She looked at Erik to make sure he agreed and he nodded his head.

"Erik," she remembered what she wanted to get from him before they left. "Do you still have your little mirror?"

Erik looked back and forth between his mother and Lucy. "I gave it to Lucy," he said, shuffling his feet.

Japi laughed. "That's perfect then!" She reached out to take Erik's hand. "I was just going to give one to her mother, but that's fine too."

As Erik latched on to Japi, he waved to Lucy with his other hand. "See you soon," he said, with hope in his voice.

Japi was sure to tell Mary on the way out that Lucy had the mirror she'd talked about. With a final wave, the mother and son were on their way to meet back up with the rest of the family, two friends richer.
