The idea of a dancing game with a mat suddenly brought in the mental image of twister hooked up to some sort of sensor. A break dancing video game? That did sound revolutionary! Tourma began to get excited about this, until he actually explained that there was, in fact, no break dancing. Regardless, she had no clue how Ken even managed to play, but she wasn't going to judge until she saw him try. At least, not too much.
"They should make a break dancing version," she added seriously while scooping rice and then vegetables onto her plate.
His comment about the food brought about a goofy grin. "It's the prep and rice that take up the most time. That and I didn't cook any meat." Reaching into the fridge, she brought out a hard boiled egg to satisfy her need for protein and then sat down at the kitchen table.
"So..." Tourma started slowly, with the air of someone who was about to drop a delicate social bomb. "How many "weird" adopted siblings do -you- have?" This was Gaia after all, and honestly, she had been terribly curious about other people's family dynamics. Namely, were they as weird or weirder than her own.
And yes, she made sure to use air quotes.

He started a bit at the question. Having never really ventured outside of his own family unit, he had sometimes wondered if his mom and dad were the only ones warped enough to keep taking in wayward children from all over the place.
He was used to it by now, of course, but sometimes you just couldn't help but wonder...
"Oh god, let's see..." he began, spooning stir fry onto his own plate. "There's Arkie, there's Dae, Lynn, Lily...."
It was hard keeping track of them all, to be honest. And it didn't help that all of them were constantly coming and going, and that he hadn't lived under his mom's roof in the last span of months.
"I haven't actually talked to any of them in awhile, though. In Arkie's case, that's not a bad thing."

"Arkie..." She murmured thoughtfully before falling silent. For some reason, this name rang some sort of bell inside her memory, but as far as recognition or explanations were concerned, there were none to be found. "Sounds, vaguely familiar... But I can't put my finger on it."
After another moment, she shrugged her shoulders apathetically and began to peel the egg while the stir fry cooled a bit.
"I feel like a lot of people in Gaia have a penchant for child 'shopping.' I have adopted relatives that came from things like mirrors, feathers, and of course eggs. Many of these things were purchased in shops around Gaia... It's kind of creepy." She paused and sighed. "I mean, I don't think of them any differently, but don't you think that it's weird?"

"Wouldn't surprise me if you've met him." he grumbled, shaking his head. "Little b*****d got around like nobody's business. Every time I turned around he was talking about some new girl he was banging...."
There seemed to be an extra twinge of resentment in his voice as he expressed that particular point. "...but last I heard it finally caught up with him and he got one of them pregnant."
He spared her the drama that had been his mom more or less abandoning him to whatever fate he'd cultivated with the girl in question. Ken had just been happy to not have to get shaken awake at 3 AM to drive him places anymore on a work day, really...
At her question, he paused, seeming to mull it over before pushing off the counter to get a soda from the fridge. "To be honest? Hell yes its weird." he said, popping the tab. "It bugs me that most people don't even get a say in when they get to have kids, they just suddenly wake up one day and 'oh hey, by the way, this weirdo from another dimension has bonded to you' or 'oh look what I found in the backyard, let's raise it as our own...' "
He gave a shudder. "Makes me thank god its not happened to ME yet."

Her eyebrow arched up into her brow as he grumbled, and she couldn't help but laugh as he continued. She did, at least, attempt to mask it. After all, she hadn't exactly had sex (and by that she meant she hadn't, at all) either, but it still remained amusing. "Someone's bitter," she commented in a bit of a sing song voice while trying to keep her face straight.
With the mention of knocking a girl up, she cringed and shook her head. "I'd rather pass on seeing myself looking like a giant hot air balloon on stilts. That and kids are germ mongers..."
She paused, watching him hop off of the counter.
"Not me, of course..." For serious, she liked to be clean, even as a kid.
Glad that he shared her sentiment on Gaia's children sales, Tourma made an agreeing noise after taking a bite of her food. By the time he had finished talking, she had swallowed and was ready to respond. "Babcia has a kid, well I suppose he's like a teen now or something too, but anyways... He's bonded to her because he's a Fa'e, and he gave her all these nightmares before he just... Appeared on the floor of her room."
There was another pause as she took a deep breath.
"Seriously though, waking up and tripping over an evil, heart-eating baby has got to be up there on the list of 'Worst Ways Ever To Start Your Day.'" The teen gave him a pointed look as she jabbed her empty fork in his direction, "Your time will come. You totally just jinxed yourself by saying that."

"I'm NOT bitter." he assured her, the defensive edge clearly stating the otherwise. He paused, clearing his throat as he took another drink of soda. "Anyway..."
He'd not poke that open wound more than necessary. He was only soldiering into his twenties without ever having kissed a girl, it wasn't like it was the end of the world.
As she went on talking, his ears perked in interest, the momentary distaste forgotten. "Get out..." he said in disbelief, a smile forming on his mouth. "Arkie was a fa'e too. Are they all maladjusted maniacs or something? Seems like a weird 'adopt me' gimmick, if you ask me..."
Then again, given some of the things he'd seen people on the streets of Gaia toting around on the end of a leash or pushing in a baby carriage, who knew what half of them were thinking.

She silently mouthed 'liar' to his denial, but said nothing more on the subject as well.
"Well," Tourma began thoughtfully, "From what Babcia has told me about Nao is that when he came back as a teen from whatever kind of growth quest he needed to do, he returned with the rest of the god's, or I guess his soul. Annnnd... He then proceed to have a rough time adjusting to this relatively simple, human-esque life he has now." Her brow was pushed together in thought as she tried to recall and make sense of what her grandmother had told her.
"What I understand of it is that something plucked these ancient beings in various stages of disrepair for whatever reasons, and then dumped them onto people in an entirely different time and place. I bet not all of them are grateful, is all..." Tourma finally nodded and cocked her head. She had a hard time hating people, even if they tended to be more 'evil' so to speak. Everyone had their reasons, after all.
Growing silent, she began to once again wonder what it'd be like to have some sort of previous life or magical powers like some of her family members did. Maybe it'd be nice, but she hoped it was more of a pain in the a** than anything. Then, she didn't feel that jealous about not being magically inclined.

One brown ear twitched as he listened, fetching up his dinner to carry it to the table and sit down. "I guess something like that could go either way." he said, pulling out a chair and plunking into it.
"I mean...okay..." he began, picking up a fork and stabbing a forkful of veggies and rice "....say I was some big omnipotent being, and I used my powers to be an a*****e. And everybody knew I was an a*****e, and then one day they killed me for being an a*****e and told me if I ever came back to life they would be waiting."
The mental image painted, he placed the forkful in his mouth and chewed it. "Now....if I was suddenly alive again as a little kid who couldn't defend himself and those people were still waiting for me to beat me so hard my -name- would be swollen over stuff I did in a life I couldn't even REMEMBER, I'd be kinda ungrateful too."

"Yeah, that sounds about right," she concurred after listening. "Besides, it must royally suck to -need- to be bonded to another person, or vampire in Babcia's case, just to keep from fading like a poorly washed shirt." The stories that she had been told from a worrying matriarch had scared her off of ever wanted to have some sort of creature/person to be bonded to her as a child.
Hell, even the Pegasus she had as a child somehow managed to disappear on her. Losing children probably would be the next step.
While he ate in a manner of a wood chipper, Tourma ate slower so that she could visibly enjoy her food. This, she had come to realize, was moreso a teenage boy trait than anything else. If they were lucky, the grew out of it. Most lamentably didn't.
"If you had the money and resources to do anything, what would you do?" Tourma asked at random, sure that a 20 questions esque round could change the subject quite nicely. This one was depressing her somewhat.

He swallowed what he had in his mouth, looking to her as she asked her question. Without even pausing to think, he answered her.
"What would I do?" he repeated. "Probably two girls at the same time." he stated as matter-of-factly as if he were informing her of the weather, moving to take another bite of his stir-fry.
As it had been pointed out in one of his favorite movies, this was a perfectly logical thing to aspire for if one had the money and the means. And with unlimited amounts of both, he was fairly sure even he would be able to arrange it.

Her fork of food was halfway up to her partially open mouth when he answered, and there it remained as she stared at him in slight disbelief. A piece of saucy broccoli teetered off of the fork and landed on the counter with a Sploot that punctuated the silence.
In an almost robotic motion, she set the fork back down and closed her mouth with a sharp click of her jaw. He couldn't -actually- be serious, could he? With all the money and resources available to him, he'd chose to hire prostitutes to entertain him in a Fun Session he probably had no earthly idea how to even preform for.
"Well," she finally began, "That would be the most expensive 30 seconds of your life." Picking up her fork again, she completed its trip and continue to stare at him as she chewed, only this time her eyes were smirking with barely contained laughter.

He nearly choked on his mouthful at her reply, his eyes flicking up in immediate reproach. Who told her THAT??
Seeing the look in her eyes, however, quelled any nastiness before it could rear its head. She was just teasing. Right....
Maybe he -was- bitter. A little.
He cleared his throat, getting a handle on his dinner again to keep it from going down the wrong pipes. "All right," he began after it had been safely escorted to his stomach. "What would -you- do?" he inquired.

Ironically, she had always been good at minesweeper too. Raising her eyebrows challengingly at his initial reaction, she couldn't help but grin widely.
That is, until he turned the tables on her.
"Uh, well..." She trailed off to organize her answer a little bit better before continuing, "I'd travel the world and gather bits and pieces of its culture in recipes, traditions, and especially dance. It'd be great to dabble in humanitarian efforts in places too, as well as experience the beauty of the little things."
There was another pause, and at this point she couldn't hide the wistful expression growing on her features.
"And then whenever I came home, I'd love to channel my experiences into a project like a fusion dance studio, or maybe an international coffee and drink house with a wide selection of worldly beverages. Or, maybe if I ever get my a** to college before this, write memoirs or blog during and after my travels."
Tourma didn't dare mention that X could probably fund such a journey for her, but that it was her health issues that barred her from the opportunity.

He listened to all of this with mingled interest and growing dejection as his ears wilted back. Oh man, way to not look like a complete jerk, Ken...
Here she'd obviously put some thought into a life of travel and culture, and even if she hadn't, she'd been able to come up with all of that on the spot. Whereas, his grandest aspirations for himself seemed to stop dead at turning in his V-card. There were some days you just had to take a good long look in the mirror and wonder what the hell happened?
"Well...." he said when she'd finished talking. "I guess you pretty well sunk my battleship there." He was quiet a moment, taking another forkful of dinner. "Then again," he went on, also seeming to have the annoying guy trait of always thinking of something more to say AFTER food was in his mouth "...I could probably just use my unlimited funds and resources to build a better one. After two girls, of course." He remained deadpan only a moment before giving in to the smirk that had wrestled its way to the surface.

Tourma chuckled at his battleship comment, but she let her laughter die off when he again mentioned using the money to get laid. Seriously? Again, she stared quietly at him for a moment before she took to chewing on the inside of her cheek to try and appear unsure.
Rubbing the back of her neck with her free hand, she pulled her eyes from his face and let them wander anywhere but the older young adult in front of her.
"Actually," she finally breathed hoarsely, flicking her eyes only momentarily to his own bi-colored ones before setting them to her plate of food. "I... Well... Have thought about, you know..." The teen dropped her voice to a whisper, "Being intimate with another woman... A lot."
The was a pause as she thought of something that actually was embarrassing. Her cheeks flushed against her winter pale skin and she stole another glance. "I guess it wouldn't -really- be a bother if a man joined in with us..." As Tourma trailed off, her eyes pulled up to stare into his as she tried her best to appear both nervous and excited.
She chewed slowly on her lips, letting her expression become more wanting as she 'thought over' the scenario. Oh, he was going to hate her.
