I would post my thesis on human sexuality but I would just be ostrisized for my beliefs. Even in a supposedly open forum I have been hounded by speakers for argument openly as having a hatred for "their sexuality"...
ie - Gays say I am a homophobe, Straight just say I am homosexual trying to destroy the straight way of life...
Needless to say... this is a good thread to have...

I got tired reading the same tired arguement over and over again, so if I just happened to miss a post like the one I'm about to make, I apologize.
I agree with the psychology analysis, I also agree with you choosing which way you lean based on past experiences; however I do not agree that sex has anything to do with it. Being bi might label it as a sexuality type of thing, but me, personally, don't agree with that. Being bi has nothing to do with whether you prefer being with a man or a woman, let's face it there are enough gadgets and toys out there that it really doesn't matter. Being bi, for me, doesn't mean falling in love with someone for their body. Sure I see attractive girls and guys all about; I can't deny that Nichole Kidman is pretty but that doesn't mean I want to sleep with her. I think Johnney Depp is cute (nothing below the face, but still cute) but again, that doesn't mean I want to sleep with him. Being bi is more a frame of mind then a sexual preferance. You fall in love with someone for their mind. Which is why I literally have to say I care for them both equally. Because I have no idea what skin the person I will eventually want to spend the rest of my life with will be wearing. I feel I'm going to diverge to some out and out rambling if I countinue, so I'll be quiet now.

Reesa Wow someone that feels the same way I do... heart heart biggrin *smiles* See, now I thought that's what made a person bi, just loving someone for their mind. Any other explanation doesn't really make sense to me; but that's just me. I'm sure if someone puts up a convincing arguement to the contrary I shall at least give it serious consideration.

I dont think anyone can, not a serious argument anyways... I dont see how someone can really base a relationship solely on whether or not you would sleep with them... but I guess thats a rare idea these days... with all the sex in the world...

I dont see how someone can really base a relationship solely on whether or not you would sleep with them... but I guess thats a rare idea these days... with all the sex in the world... True true. It's rather funny, way way back in Lucy's (you know skeleton in Africa?) day, that was the important thing: Sex, well sex and survival, and then as we as a species progressed it got more and more so that discussing such things was a no-no. Until it reached it's, what I think is the peak, in the mid 1800s. But now we're slowly falling back to talking about sex openly, and losing the idea of love and what not. The whole debate that the right wing stands on for marriage is bogus. Marriage is not between a man and a woman, marriage was created for money. Combining of house holds, and deals. There was no love, hell I'm sure if two guys could pro-create they would've made marriages of those two. I'm surprised they didn't actually what with slavery being in effect back then. Or at least two girls, but then the view on woman back then was not high, so perhaps not then. Whoa, tangenting again... Anyway, yea, I think the whole staright is simply social brainwashing when they're young and they don't know better, and being gay is a preferance they have developed. We all start out bi but life makes us go one way or the other and those who are still bi in the end are simply cause we haven't been brainwashed nor have had anything happen in our lives to really dislike the opposite gender. Thus coming to the conclusion that we're all the same on the inside just a bit different on the outside. OMG Mineka SHUT UP!

I dont mind your tangenting, feel free to do so if you ever see me around, I can watch you on your soap box all day... blaugh Don't say that, I can go on FOREVER. Luckily that's where World of Warcraft pulls me away, and all is good, so it gives other people a chance to post. But then those long flights tend to find me back here. Ah well. Damn not even remotely community based tangenting this time. I don't know why you'd get bombarded with hate mail, though the way of phrasing something and where you're saying it is key. Very easy to offend people on such a touchy subject. Which is why I tend to keep my thoughts on bi stuff to myself. However, I know I've got a good leg to stand on with this debate since my friend (the debate queen, who debates anything and everything under the sun) once asked me if I was bi or les, and I said bi, and she asked "How does that work?" and I told her she just nodded and said something along the lines of "Yea, that makes sense." Alright, I shall refrain from posting here until a third party comes in to make a worth while debate.

yeah, a person can be bi just like they can be gay, lez, or straight.
that said there are way too many straight girls out there who are comfortable with being with (but not attracted) to other girls that get off showing off for guys. which is kind of annoying if you ask me, but to each his/her/zer own. but that does kind of give the real bisexuals a bad rep.

well all u said is true, so true!!! hte person doesnt have to be labeled in the sexual way, cause we just play the free love and anyway u dont have the time u just will love a girl/boy. in my case im apoen to all the posibilities in life... i know that i like the mans...but theres a probability that u been i love of a woman someday... so i just let that there like that!!!
i have a friend, my best friend and hes Bi! i have talked ith him since the beginning of everything between us!!!. i can dare to say that all in a Bi, is not always sexual... a bisexual may be inlove so deeply of a gay or lesbian... whatever u wanna say it!! im not offending! i jst realice that... cause before my thoughs for this kind of people was insanity in sex and like ninphomaniac, i was in panic with this people and never in my life wanted anything with them, until i meet him... he has his heart and i love that... he told me sometime "man, i wanna have someone 2 love, no matter if this is a man, or a woman. i wanna feel his hands in mine, fell his heart watching the sunset... telling him that i love him so much and i will die dor him... give him a bear hug and spread my warl love on him!!! kiss his lips and star like that forever!!!
that moves me inside so sweet... and 4 minutes i fell in love of him!!!
i really love my friend!!! my best friend!!!

I hate when people say that there is no such thing as bisexuality- im bi myself- i've dated guys and girls. Yes some people are confused or just like both at one time and then decide to go one way or the other, but i know that isnt the way for all of us- i mean i have a boyfriend that i really love right now- but even so, i cant help the fact that a womens body still looks very appealing to me. I'd say that there are just some people who lean more twords one way or another but keep their options open- and then there are some who are bi for a while and just decide to go stright or gay/lesbian.... but i sure as hell know that there is such thing as bisexuality. 3nodding

*sigh*
Bisexuality is a true orientation. It is possible to love both sexes- they're all people! Damn... why do people talk as if they are in love with a gender? I beleive that you love the individual person, not their gender. I am pansexual. Omnisexual. Whatever you want to call it, but I love people.

It seems to me that when people say bisexual isn't a true orientation, they're being as narrow-minded as someone who denies homosexuality as being a person's true orientation. I'm not trying to insult people who disagree with me, but honestly.
And I really agree with Crazy Banana, great point. I haven't tied myself down as being a lesbian - even though that seems more likely for me than straight/bisexual - because I don't know who I'm going to fall in love with. Sure, I'm more attracted to females physically [and for the most part, emotionally], but as stated - you don't fall in love with someone because of their gender. It's such a minute detail in love, I really don't see how the discrimination got started in the first place.
Probably by people who never knew true love to begin with.
