Even when Einar got up Lai didn't let go of the Norwegian's hands. He liked holding on, plus it would help if the man did in fact fall again. He looked down at Einar's footwear and nodded with approval. His own boots were definitely not like Einar's, but he wouldn't let the cold get to him today.

"A very good choice for today Einar." His smile faded a bit as he looked over to Del and he couldn't help but feel a bit bad for the woman who kept on falling. Everyone would eventually figure it out and so she would as well. Lai paused for a moment as he looked back to the blond, trying to figure out how to continue exactly. Memories of how he was taught came back and he put on a 'that would not be a good idea at all' face before answering the question.

"Well, I had to learn it the way a nestling learns to fly. Which means my cousin got behind me, put his hands on my back and said 'Alright Cousin, the only lesson you need to know is not to fall. Then you will learn everything from there on by yourself instantly'." He looked at Einar with a serious face. "Then he shoved me into the middle of the pond and laughed on the bank as I struggled to 'learn'." He sighed and shook his head, but smiled when he stopped.

"Know I will not do that with you, but it might be a bit awkward. So first...Well that would be to not lock up your knees as you go along. Think of the motions like you are skiing. Something like that."

He begrudgingly let Einar's hands go, turned around, and lightly pushed off with his foot, sliding about ten yards away from the Norwegian before stopping with his heel and turning around. He waved and called over to him. "Push off with the tip of your boot, and try to stop with your heel!"

Wraith had settled like a large black lump on one side of the pond, content to sit and watch the others slide around on the ice. It looked like Shee had forced Asmadai onto the ice, as they were now tentatively inching slowly around the pond. He was not worried today, which was a welcome feeling. Asmadai was a priest; no need to worry about him.

But there had been weightier matters resting on his mind lately. The ice of the pond reflected back his own image, and he was reminded of Russia. His thoughts were interrupted by loud screams, and he shut his eyes and buried his head between his knees, attempting to negate by sheer force of will the presence of Estrelas.

"Well, you haven't fallen yet! And look, Einar fell too! So you're very solidly in the middle of the pack." Since the mission in Japan, she had never really gotten over the matter of the priest's hair, so when he shook his head and all she could see was his hair, Shee tried to suppress a laugh. As she remembered, he hadn't been too pleased when the subject had come up before, so she resisted the urge to say anything.

"Did you get bored staying inside?"

"Push off, don't flail. Got it."

Einar watched carefully as Lai let go of his hand and slid across the ice without any skates, his eye taking as many notes as he could about every position the body before him was in. It was important for him to understand all of how this worked out, seeing as balance wasn't one of his fortes thanks to losing an eye and all, and he bent his elbows slightly as he gave himself a push....only to go slipping forward really quickly and landing back on his butt.

"Maybe it would help to tell you that I've never skied before either? There wasn't much to do in Norway other than get lost or join the war."

He grunted a bit as he pushed himself back to his feet, not waiting for Lai's help this time, and with a bit more of a steady movement he pushed again and managed to sail over to Lai's side. The stopping was rather jerky and he had to say a bit to stay up, but he'd made it more than five inches this time.

"Is that all you do?"

"Well, not that we need 'em, accordin' to those two." Alberto nodded with a grin towards the two males skating (without said equipment) nearby. "They're what they're wearing, over there." He made a motion with his free hand towards the Elites. "Blades on the bottom of shoes, somehow makes it easy to move on ice. Guess it'd take some getting used to."

However a latent craving for adventure grew inside as his eyes returned to the skateless men. Through trial and error, the blonde one was learning - why couldn't he do the same? Even Del had gone out and tried moving on the slick surface.

"Here, lemme try something." He slid his hand from hers for a moment, and, keeping an eye on what the two nearby men were doing, edged towards the rim of the frozen surface. He slowly moved onto it, and after taking a moment to steady himself, he looked back at Del with a grin. Maybe she'd be encouraged to try again, he thought.

In all of his excitement, he pushed off too suddenly and his feet slipped from under him. He fell on his backside and groaned at the sharp pain that jumped up his body. "Agh.." He'd really hoped that his new companion hadn't seen that, and imagining that she had made his cheeks redden in embarrassment.

Way to be suave, he thought with a slight grimace as he rubbed his back.

A small chuckle escaped the Russian as Einar fell once more. It wasn't to be malicious or mean spirited, only because he thought it was endearingly cute. He was going to move back over to where the man was, but before he could Einar was back up and already making his approach. His hands flew up and pressed on the Norwegian's chest and back to help him stop without sliding past.

"I have never skied either, but no, that is not all you do." Lai patted Einar on the chest, sure the man wouldn't fall over before moving a bit away again. "One push is not going to keep you moving for long, so you need to continue the motions." That might have sounded confusing, but he knew this man was a fast learner and would get it. "I am terrible at explaining things, but you will see."

First thing he did was adjust his scarf, hiking the green knitted form up a bit as he was starting to feel that icy pinch around the underside of his chin. He adjusted his fur lined hat as well, just to make sure it had not come loose from his sliding just before. Once he was content with those two things, Lai did just as he had taught the other man, he pushed off with the tip of his right boot. He slid across the ice, just as before, but this time before he slowed down he brought his left boot down and pushed off, going farther. This also caused him to go faster than he had intended, so Lai made some small circles with his arms to slow himself. Once he did, he made a turn and used five sliding steps to get back to Einar. Once there he decided to show off a bit and circled around him, but one turn on the side of his boot made him stumble and he too went down onto his butt.

The Russian slid away a bit, spinning slowly and not stopping himself, laughing at what he just accomplished. Once he slowed himself with his hands he got back up and shook away the cold, skating back to the Norwegian chuckling and with a joyful look in his eyes.

"There, skating. Not too difficult to do, but you have to beware going to fast at first or you will lose control. Give it a try, but remember not to lock up your legs as well."

Del grew excited when she saw the connection between the bottom of the male's foot and the ice. She wanted to try in herself, but the fear of falling down and busting her a** again made her weary. She did return his smile back, just to show she was still encouraged to try.

Del was preoccupied examining the skates from afar that she did not see Alberto fall. But when she did turn her gaze to him, she did come to see he suffered the same fate as her. "Heh." she spouted as she tried to muffle her giggle. Doing the same motion he did for her, Del tiptoed across the ice towards Alberto, fearing herself that she would slip also. Del stretched out her hand towards him, trying her best to look content. Her left leg slipped to the left slightly which caused her to shift towards said direction. She almost lost her balance, but kept standing strong.

"Joy," he said dryly. "At least I'm not solidly at the back." Actually, it was easier to move if he didn't hold himself so stiffly. The screaming box of Estrelas startled him a bit, but he'd gotten so used to sound of her voice at unbearable volumes that he almost no longer cared. "No," he said, "I didn't. But even if you're not bored, a change of pace can be good for you, so..."

That, and actually, he had gotten rather bored of reading that book. "Is something wrong with your brother?"

Alberto's sour mood lightened a little when Del held her hand out to him to help him up. The corners of his mouth tugged into a half smile of sorts as he grasped her extended hand, making sure to not take her down with him, should he fall again.

"Thank you," he replied with a nod as he slowly climbed to his feet. His knees shook on the unsteady surface but he managed to stand all the way up again. His half smile became a grin again at his companion. "Maybe I'm not cut out much for this." He gave a small laugh and a puff of steam rose from his mouth and touched his frozen nose. He couldn't feel half of his face (or his behind, for that fact) and he wasn't much good at skating (without skates) but he was having a pretty good time.

".. I'm gonna try again anyway." He slid his hand from Del's and, once again eyeing the men next to them, corrected his position and skated out onto the ice. He tried to balance the pressure he put on his feet rather than tilt too far forward or back, and found better success this time. He went a few feet smoothly and came to a slow stop, before turning towards Del with a grin.

Much better than falling on his backside again, in any case.
