There was a certain air of confusion amidst the genin, but confusion bring the wicked boon as Leon was taught to believe. Leon almost felt like doing cartwheels instead of running from sheer joy. But a thought crossed his mind, as they often would, as he continued his mad dash towards the bell. The female, whom he could conclude held favor from the other genin, could, out of the sickeningly sweet notion of protection, gain the upper hand if the others chose to aid her. This would be a unfavorable situation for him. But a solution appeared. Rush. If Rush simply held the enforcement of neutrality from the more trained genin, then the exercise was his. He turned his head, maintaining speed, and yelled out, "Maintain your honor comrade! If you save her, she will only learn that in dire circumstances she will rely on others!" Hopefully Rush's pacifist nature would be stronger than his need to help those less fortunate.

((I apologize. Leon was built for the purpose of appearing weasel-ish and screwing over everyone.))

Rush listened to Leon's fleeting words. They struck him with an unintended antagonistic blow. Save her . . . Implication she needed saving seemed inaccurate, as she just hesitated. In a way, her hesitation compared to Leon's action potentially answered Rush's concern of who needed exemption from a possibly lethal punishment more. At the same time though, Rush did not want to cross the line from facilitator to control freak. Reguardless, Rush wanted time to think without the inhibiting pressure of Leon making progress while Mika did not. He risked a lot in his action and would find his decisions and impact harder to reverse the longer he listened to impulse.

Still . . . Rush jumped from the tree, pulling his elbow back past his ear, palm parallel to his nose, and upon landing, he slammed his chakra infused hand to the dirt. This initiated the chakra flow into nature's green earth. Ground was capable of transporting spirt and force much faster than the air and it showed, the chakra flew the distance to Leon after a few seconds of pursuit. But that was only step one. Step two invoked the bloodline of the Thores. A secondary charge was released once the flow of chakra was beneath leon, and this new energy softened the ground, and turned it slightly mushy the closer it got to Leon. Once the bloodline chakra ran directly beneath Leon, it fused with the first stream and began the effect.
This was an intricate process of releasing two streams of chakra at the right time in the right amount, and wouldn't be possible if chakra control wasn't a specialty or Rush's.
The mixture turned the earth beneath Leon to caramel. Sweet, succulent and sticky were attributes, some more keen to the jutsu than others, all make the jutsu whimsical and the dream of a child. Granted the jutsu had slightly more mobid tendancies than the typical dream of any child. The caramel shot out tendrils of itself to capture the child and encapsulate his ankles. It was an advanced jutsu and would be difficult for a fresh genin to dodge the grasping tentacles of the candy.

Rush felt no pride in trying to capture a little kid, but he still needed to think and do what was best for the team. It was an exersize, not a contest. Keeping this in mind, Rush felt a bit more at ease. In any competitive situation, this a dirty move and exploiting the intimate power of Rush's bloodline. It still might be just that in this scenario, but not as much of one at least, and Rush could take some weak, bittersweet solace in that.

((Reflex Save 34 if you feel so inclined to go for a natural 20 hehe . . .
I apologize, Rush was built for being incredibly unconfident and flighty in his emotions.))

Mike simply watched as Rush contain his comrad in what seemed sticky mud. She would not rush forward, nor try and dispatch of Leon. This would be to easy. "I don't feel this is the test, its way to easy. Especially for Lokail Sensei's taste.", she said aloud. "Though there is the danger of eachother", she said with a glance of the shinobi around her. "Had only one of us rushed for the bell, Lokail wouldn't take that sitting down. He'd make it hell for them to get to the bell and make it back alive." How the hell could this be done?! Mika moved to her next fingernail, biting slowly was she though. It wasn't unlike her to be overly paranoid. But this just didn't seam right in her mind. Would the others feel so too?

Rush started towards Leon, unable to see exactally if Leon had been completely held or if he somehow scrambled out of it, but either way, he wished to talk. As he began his walk, he spoke over his shoulder, adressing the girl,

"Mika, if you'd be willing to accompany me, I'd love to chat with you and Leon."

Rush didn't want things to escalate to this, but there were things that Rush had been unclear upon. He had no intrest in fighting for the bell, but he wanted it to go to the one who needed it most. While all four of them would surely appreciate some reward for it, there was the underlying reason that, simply put, Lokail didn't ******** around. He almost lost Saku to a schizophrenic kage, unaware of his unstable emotions. Paranoia hit Rush hard and he had no intention of putting the least capable through something serious.
. . .But then again, one of the two maybe slightly more capable than the other, but was it really enough of a difference to justify taking control?
. . .But on the other hand, if there were better odds, then best go with them, and a true leader needed to make snap calls much more severe than this one all the time.
God, he was just going back and forth, if only he had better confidence in his decisions. Rush didn't need to learn physical power, he mostly needed a little self-esteem. Anyway, what was happening was happening, and it wouldn't hurt to try diplomacy before just not caring. He would not fight anyone, but incapacitating is different from fighting. Still, he felt guilty for what could be betraying his teammate and trying to harden him in caramel. Rush just stared at the ground silently as he walked. Was this test supposed to have this effect on everyone? Did Lokail know him that well? who knows . . .

"Of course, I'll go with you", Mika answred Rush. She though of Rush as a stable person. He seemed calm and unagressive. She felt safer with the two older boys with her, though she shouldn't have to. Mika needed to become a shinobi on her own. Now being babied and having her hand held by everyone. Though, being one of the few girls, and probubly the weakest of the four, she needed the help. Especially from those with.. abnormalities... Mika slowly shuffled in the direction of Rush and Leon.

Lokail hung back simply watching everyone and all the choices they were making. So far Rush was showing a decent amount of maturity, though realistically it would be much harder to stop all the action like this on a mission. Still, it was a decent move. Hikaru was showing a respectable amount of restraint as well, though Lokail couldn't help but smirk at his use of the word team. He wondered under what circumstances they would be able to call each other team under. Only time would truly tell. As he observed he was pleased to see how well Leon and Mika complimented one another. He admired Leon's determination to win, and survive, though he questioned how reckless he could be with such a frail body. Mika was being smart in her evaluation of the situation, she was weaker, and therefore she needed to think her decisions through. However she just seemed a tad to hesitant than what was desired. He didn't move from watching them, he didn't react to there decisions, this was their decision. Lokail was simply an observer, he would withhold the true meaning of the test until it was over.

Leon felt the oozing sweet sap cling his legs to the ground. He was stuck, there was no doubt about it. He looked around for the cause and to his surprise he saw Rush had cast a jutsu holding him in place. He remained calm. His first instinct was punch himself in the face to take a tooth, then start to cut off his own legs. But that would best be saved for another time. He changed his smile to something a little more fitting, something a little less sadistic. He looked at Rush, then at Mika. He ground and gritted his teeth in a way that nearly broke off pieces of tooth. He would restrain his nature, the best that he could right now.

((And yeah, it's not letting me roll dice. So I'll give it that I am stuck. And it was probably the best call to take out Leon. lol))

Hikaru watched as Rush trapped Leon in the sticky substance. What the hell are we doing? Lokail pitted us against each other to get the bell, but if one of us gets past everyone else then Lokail will just step in. That's it Lokail must want to see how long it takes us to work as a team. so the longer it takes the harder it will be to get the bell. We need to work together to get the bell. For the good of the team one must place his own needs behind the necessity of the team.

Hikaru was sure he had this whole situation figured out. Hikaru made a few hand seals and disappeared as he used his shunshin no jutsu. Hikaru then appeared in front of Rush. Hikaru gave a short pause before he began to speak. "Rush I think i figured out this exercise. Lokail is pitting us against each other to get one bell. if we all try to get the bell and fight with each other then Lokail will see our techniques and easily stop whoever beats everyone else. so instead of fighting we need to work together. for the team we need to put all of our own selfish desires behind us and work together for the sake of completing the mission."
PostPosted: Thu Jan 15, 2009 10:13 pm

Rush noted that his jutsu worked as intended, and Hikaru had finally penetrated a rational answer to the reason. Rush had tried to explain the rationale of his own interpretation of this exersize but felt rushed and unsure of himself. He called back over to Hikaru,

"While I agree that fighting each other will weaken us as a team, Lokail isn't doing it to see how we fight, it's not like any of us could fight him, even if he didn't know our techniques."

It was an interesting thought, granted. It's usually a smart move to decipher the style of an opponent before facing them. He brought Leon and Mika together to try and delegate, and also gestured Hikaru over, if he felt inclined to discuss as well,

"Now then, in a real mission, I would not be able to call a little time out and chat with the team. So think of this as mission planning. We just recieved the objective from whoever hired or assigned us, to retrieve a scroll or a hostage, i don't know, something like that . . . But the 'package' is in enemy territory and most of us, if not all could be put in danger to see to it that the 'package' is retrieved. If we figured the odds and best strategy before hand, when we actually depart on the mission, we can act without having to pause unnecassarily to think or make a gut call that could go either way. So both of you think. How will the team proffer best, given the information we have; the 'pre-mission briefing' or whatever? If we knew what and why we would do before hand, that could make all the difference in the real thing . . .I know I may be contorting Lokail's true intention for this excersize, but it's a judgement call I needed to make to determine how I would handle this. If any of you have any objection or idea, please share, I'm not as confident as I try to seem. Because this might be fairly logical, I've used enough time that, were this the real thing, we'd all be dead due to my unsureness."

Rush hung his head a bit, wondering why he assumed so much responsibility when
a. No one asked him to
and b. He hardly believed in his own leadership
it didn't make sense to him and looking at the immovable, seemingly judgemental statue of Lokail. That penetrating stare of the whitness was what made Rush feel he was doing something wrong most.

Leon bore his teeth, the same way a fox would show a hunter while he was trapped. He heard the plea of reason from the silent comrade, the words rang out in his ears like the sound of church bells places against his head. So pious, so aggravating. "Is it that hard to grasp?! One man lives, three men die. The job get's done, end of day." he yelled at the group. He knew what lokail was. Lokail was like him. A sadist. A man who knew that the only thing that lives is that which would cut off it's own arm to survive. "If this had been a mission we would all be dead and it is because you are blinded. Hesitation, my comrades. You held hesitation in your heart when there should have been action. Even now you bicker when I am clearly hindered and the goal is within sight." It was clear he was going into somewhat of a delirium. "It is plain as day that this exercise was to show that life is not fair. That sometimes the good die and the selfish endure. And believe me I would a thousand times put my orders above you all." His delirium now turned his wide eyes to Rush and his snarl morphed into a familiar, sinister grin. "Although it appears compassion treats me today as a two-sided knife. The very reason I am stuck in this, is the same reason why this substance is not covering my nose and mouth. Thank you dear comrade." He bowed his head for the gift he had thought he received. "But I meant it when I said you are saving her. And now I see that you are all blind. Blind by your compassion. You interfere as if you are a leader, yet you discard the one truth that every leader must hold in their heart. The mission comes first." He spat at Rushes feet. He was aware that he was helpless in comparison, but this was a matter of insult to Leon. "Your mind is as sweet as the jutsu you use. Maybe someday you'll be a leader. But as long as you are sweet as chocolate you will not be my leader."

((I know I have no business using this. But the term "Sweet as Chocolate" is used in Japan as a term for naive. I'm a weeboo.))

Lokail just sat back, silently watching the events unfold. He bit his lip and started to grow irritated and agitated at all of the kids talking. He knew they all had their own points, though one thing he couldn't quite understand was why everyone was generalizing and assuming what he was going to do. He thought that he had made the idea of the exercise quite clear, but noooo, there just had to be some catch. And who was this Leon kid? He was setting himself up for a fun team activity called 'beat the crap outta the sadist kid'. He sighed as he started thinking of his own psychopathic tendencies. Slaughtering, killing, burning, all that fun stuff. He looked at Leon and started to think of how as his teacher he really should start steering him away from this thought process. Parts of his words were true, there could easily be a time where they'd need to act without hesitation, and possibly get everyone killed, however his reasoning why was flawed. One way or another his team had it in for at least one a** kicking, for either being to soft, or for being... Leon... Although he didn't wish to get blood on the grass, second thought who the hell was going to clean up the caramel? A vain appeared in Lokail's forehead. No, no... Not on the grass... Get them onto the rocks... How...? Cake, tell them there is cake on the rocks... Kids love cake right? Oh but Leon wont buy it... Cake and knives... Sharp knives... Not on the grass...

Rush smiled, the kid definetly spoke in half-truths. The halves that he didn't like made him want to smack the kid, but he didn't. He did look over to Lokail though, and noticed the slightest bit of irritation, hidden somewhere in his feature. Rush could guess his reason,

Don't worry, the caramel is just a temporary state of the earth, once I relinquish the jutsu, it will mold back to the way it was."

He then turned back to the smug kid in candy and resumed smiling,

"well, with your motives and whatnot perfectly clear, you have aboslved me of the worry in my mind. Thank you brother, I understand now. . .Mika, go get the bell now."

He gestured her away. Smiling.
PostPosted: Fri Jan 16, 2009 8:23 am

After the first few, Leon's words became nothing more than a soliloquy to her. She simple stopped listening and spoke with a harsh tounge, and a angered expression. "The roll of the shinobi may be to complete the work of the village and hunt down wrong-doers. But it does NOT make them weak to show emotion. Especially for a squad mate, they simply want to help me live another day. Is it really worth the loss of a comrade over a simple exercise, when they could whinde up saving you later down the road?" Mika no longer held Leon in her mind as a human. His sydistic ways made him more suited as an animal. Her little respect for him had been totally abolished at that moment.

Mika turned and sprinted away as Rush gestured to her with a nod. Dodging the area that was effected by Rush's jutsu. Mika was running at a slow pace in the direction of the bell. She was still a little worried of Lokail's actions. He may have said he would not step in. But with his methods, was lying really that large of a step?
