Hello it's nice to be here I'm pretty glad that a Guild has been formed on gaia for this game. My reason for coming upon this game was a yahoo! video I saw of someone playing the Extra Stage of Imperishable night with the Ghost team. after that I looked at YouTube and saw more vids, the music took my breath away. hehe My fav Touhou game is Imperishable night my fav character is Remilia Scarlet and I love her theme song as well. I also heard that a certain user had brought Touhou vids on the VJ of Gaia

Hey, nice to meet you all!
My reason for playing the games and loving the music was the U.N. Owen McDonald's video. After finding the original version of the song I pretty much found my way into Touhou.
My favorite character would be Flandre! Also Patchouli and Koakuma.
My favorite game would be ESD and IN.

Hi! I came across Touhou Project through my cousin. He found a few songs then I got hooked on them and kept searching for more Touhou songs. It was because of my cousin cosplaying as Aya, I wanted to cosplay as someone from Touhou Project. ...Sad to say.... I've never played the games. I just don't have time and .... I'm not sure on where to get them....
My favorite characters I would have to say are Flandre and Marisa (the two I cosplay as. =D)

I've never been invited to anything before, so thanks. I first got into touhou from watching the different flash animations that would accompany some IOSYS songs. I lurked around imageboards for a source and then came my obsession with conquering this beast of a game. My favorite game is easily PCB. The cherry system really clicked for me, and it had a good mix of random and fixed bullets in its patterns for normal mode. I did really like EoSD's hard mode though. I always have fun playing Hailstorm, even if I die or use a bomb.

It all started when I saw a mugen vid of Shiki Tohno vs Mion Sonozaki and the author used a song I became interested in. He told me it was the UI-70 version of Patchouli's theme. Then I looked around Youtube and heard many different versions of Locked Girl. Eventually I looked up some other songs and then read about Touhou and watched some Touhou realated vids.
I haven't played any Touhou games yet but I know quite a bit about it. The games I really want to play are Embodiment of Scarlet Devil, Perfect Cherry Blossom, IaMP and definitely Scarlet Weather Rhapsody.
Oh and btw, thanks for the invite.

Hello everyone! I'm otter! :3 I'm still new to Gaia hence the not so great Avi but I'm trying to get some nicer threads. Anyways, I got into the Touhou Project from a friend who found it through youtube. He loved the characters mainly and showed me some of the vids. I loved them too and I downloaded a few of the games. They are a lot of fun to play when I'm bored and quite challenging. I'm looking forward to interacting with all of you fellow Touhou fans! Take care. smile

((WARNING! My posts ARE danmaku!))
Hey! I go by several names across the net, but for now, you will only know me as Matti. I've been playing Touhou for about three months now. But my story about the discovery of Touhou is a LONG one, and it started with Ronald McDonald. You heard right. That creepy clown in the yellow suit. How? I was lurking through a thread here in Gaia, and someone posted a YouTube link and was daring people not to laugh. This. I failed. But then it was stuck in my head. After that, I proceeded to view the other McMixes, and finally discovered the name of the song for the first one. "U. N. Owen Was Her?"
But it was still about two months before I actually learned that the song was associated with someone named Flandre Scarlet.
But I STILL didn't know that Flandre was part of a game. I was one of those noobs who thought it was part of an anime. But I wasn't really concerned with that. It didn't matter to me.
Anyway, I went from Ronald McDonald to VOCALOID. I messed around with vocaloids and MikuMikuDance for about three months, until I discovered a couple of videos done with MMD that sounded VERY familiar. The MMD version of "Candid Friend" is actually what started me back into Touhou-related media, because immediately after viewing that, I found an MMD version of the McRoll'd video.

Even at this point, I had still never seen what the game itself actually looked or played like, and I hadn't heard anything about it.
Me and one of my friends continued to mess arond with vocaloids for the next month, but while doing that, I was digging around, convinced that VOCALOID was the center of what I had then termed the "Hidden Netframe". By using VOCALOID as a starting point, and otaku like myself could browse through any topic he or she would be interested in (pertaining to the gaming/anime/japanese culture interest fields) WITHOUT touching anything to do with reality's issues and interests.
Through VOCALOID, I found the actual Touhou games. The first I heard of was EoSD, of course. Once I found out that it was in my favorite genre of games (sidescrolling shooters, vertical shooters, and now danmaku) I was hooked. And then I was astonished to find that Touhou didn't just have one game, or two, but TWELVE+.

The first one I actually played was Perfect Cherry Blossom. I started playing immediately on Lunatic with Sakuya A, because I figured I was good enough. WRONG. After the first few faeries came on screen and blasted me apart with little white juggling balls, my jaw dropped, and I instantly knew that I had finally found my match with this "danmaku" kind of game. I continued to play PCB on Lunatic, until I could make it through the first stage without a game over. Frost Columns became my favorite spellcard, and Table Turning became my archenemy. I was always Sakuya, because knives + time control + maid = WIN. (And it was eerily close to abilities I dreamed of having...) It took about two weeks of practice to finaly get down to where the first stage was a breeze and didn't cost me a life until Table Turning...
Then...
FFFFFF! CHENNNN!!! That little shikigami started raping poor Sakuya with phoenix-based spellcards! Phoenix! -death- -death- Fireworks! -death- Phoenix! -death- Fireworks! -bomb- Rumbling Sage? WTF? 'How am I supposed to SHOOT her? She moves too fast! -game over-

At this point, I had no clue about focus shot. So I'm running blindly without any idea about the size of my hitbox. But I had also found Imperishable Night and Phantasmagoria of Flower View. I played as the Sakuya/Remilia team all the time, because of course, Sakuya was in it. I discovered that for some reason, IN was a little easier than PCB. PoFV kinda bored me, but I was thrilled to death to play as Cirno. I was getting better at this. I went back to PCB, and managed to live to Alice, and SOMEHOW survived on my first encounter with her.
But wait... what's this?

"PCB, PoFV, and IN are only DEMOS!!??"

"That means I have to start searching for the full versions now! And I worked so hard on trying to understand all the japanese stuff to find these DEMOS? FAIL! These were the only three I could get! I wanna buy them, but I don't have any money! This is SO not fair! Why do things always turn out this way?"
"But wait a minute... Christmas is coming up... And I might be able to..." -a day later- "Hey mum... You know how I've always been into anime and stuff like that?" "What is it? You know I don't care for your demonic interests." -three hours of convinicing mother otherwise-"And you want what now?""I've always wanted to go to an anime convention, and well... OhayoCon is coming up in January... could that be my christmas present?""A trip to this convention? And you say your friend can take you?""Yeah... I'd only need about $150... $10 to pay him for gasoline, about $40 to help him pay for our room, $50 for entry, and the last $50 for meals.""If we do that, that would be all you get for your christmas gift..." "That would be perfect, mother!"
I figured that if I could figure out a way to spend a lot less than originally planned, I could get someone to help me order one of the games. But luck was more on my side than I had hoped! The con days came around finally, but my mum only gave me $140 to spend. Whatever. I would just go hungry for three days. I didn't care. The con was the most fun I had ever had in my entire life!! Hands down! I spent the When I got into the dealers' room, I looked around openmouthed at all the anime merchandise, and I knew I was in heaven. I did a full circuituous loop around everything in the 'market', keeping my eyes peeled, particularly for a Marisa or Reimu resin kit, but really for anything Touhou-related. I never found any of that, and the cash finally burnt a hole in my pocket. I broke down and bought the ONLY Hatsune Miku figurine at the con for 45$, a pair of ears for $35, and a little $5 'KITSUNE' patch to put on my bag. Making me broke. I no longer had any reason to float around the market room, so I left to wander and ogle at all the incredible cosplayers. But before I made it out of the market, I spot something in my peripheral that literally makes me stop, point, and scream on the spot. Just a teeny-tiny bit of printed paper tacked to the makeshift booth wall. What was on it is what caused this madness.

REIMU AND MARISA YUKKURI HEADS! ゆっくりしていってね!!!

"Ha ha! You recognized them! You're one of a rare few who know what they are! I'm just telling people to 'Take it Easy!' at the con! You looking for Touhou, right?" So I walked over and started talking to the vendor about Touhou everything. (His booth was called "He Da Ne", I believe, so keep your eyes out! He travels to cons all over!) I was devastated to find out that NOT ONLY was he selling all of the games except Scarlet Weather Rhapsody and Shoot the Bullet, but he was also selling a boxload of Touhou doujinshi and doujin music!

But the nice vendor told me to ask about working FOR the con as a staff member. He said that he heard about people who had signed up to work for the con, and if they worked for 24 hours across the three days of the con, their registration got refunded AND they got access to the next OhayoCon for free! That would give me enough to buy ONE Touhou game! So I booked it over to the room for registering as staff, got my ultra-cool OhayoCon Staff shirt and badge, and worked for ten hours straight on the first day, hauling food, and being the bouncer for the massive rave by checking badges at entry. (People kept passing out! And one girl got alcohol poisoning...) And the next day I did the same thing, except I was taking IDs for the Hentai and Yaoi showings for 16 hours straight, all night. On the third day, I got my refund, and got my special staff quick-access into the market room, and made a beeline for the He Da Ne vendor. He was waiting for me, and had set aside one of EoSD for me. I bought that, and had 19 dollars to spare, so I took a peek at the other stuff he had... when...

OMG! MEGAMARI!
BUT IT'S $24!! "I tell you what... If you can give me ONE good reason why I should sell that to you for 19 dollars without taxes, and it's yours."

Strongest Sign [Haggle Mode ~ Lunatic]!!!
He gave me three tries. On my third try, I said "Because I plan to make one better!" And he went silent and looked at me.
"Hmm..." -chin scratch + thoughtful expression- ". . ." -change thought pose- ". . . I give that a C+. It's yours, for $17." "-seventeen dollars."
"-seventeen dollars."
"-seventeen dollars."
"-YOURS."
"LOLWUT!?"
You guys just invited a Maiden of the Kaleidoscope to a GAIA Touhou Guild. What does that mean? DoujinStyle is a taboo name around me. I'll raise hell around anyone who says that Halo is better than Touhou. Do not mention 4chan to me.

So, my name is Bryce, you can CALL me LST if you want, but I prefer my first name, really. I'm 18 and I teach Judo at a gym for a living, and I am admittedly a Touhou whore. I first got into when I was looking for references for a paper, actually, I got distracted and started looking at stuff on Youtube, and I found an IOSYS video. What was it... Something involving Cirno, I remember that much! So, I inquired more on CIRNO, because I wanted to draw her, then I discovered the whole game series, and I quickly hunted down the torrents for Embodiment of Scarlet Devil, Perfect Cherry Blossom, and Imperishable Night (I have a no death Extra Stage run that I am ever so proud of. Need to show that off to you guys), and PoFV. That was... what, last spring? And I've been drawing Touhou characters since then. Yup. I even go as far as playing IOSYS songs on In the Groove. I'm a horrible person. xD
Thanks for the invite by the way! :3

[ooc] Sorry if it took me forever to accept.
Hello, the name's... well, you can call me Remi. ;3 I have a few other Touhou cosplays, and am a big fan of the series.
I got into Touhou when... hmm. I think it was when I found Kaguya's, Reisen's, and Keine's themes on youtube. Curious as to where this music came from, I finally found Imperishable Night after many searches. Eventually a friend helped me find TH6, 7, 9, 10, 10.5, and 11. :3 Although I've yet to even 1cc Normal ;_; Still, I try <3 And I always come back for the difficulty.
Nice to meet you all~ {EDIT} Also forgot to say, thank you for inviting one of my other mules, Suwako.~ [/ooc]

Lol! I sure did! And I even convinced the vendor to come back next year with MORE! I intend to spend a few hundred dollars on him next year! I can't wait! I'm looking for the CD version of the Win98 pack, and I intend to have a hard copy of every Touhou game I can find. Including Sanae Challenge, and Touhou Gensokyo Rensa.
