Latte grinned. "Yup, there it is!" He gaze shifted over to the playing kits. "Don't get too close; you don't want to fall in!" he called out after them. "Let's make sure they don't do anything rash, alright?" he said to Yuri as he sped up his pace a little.
Keiichi nodded enthusiastically, reaching out a paw to touch the water just skimming beneath the surface of the rock. "Can I swim in it?" he asked his parents as he noticed them coming up behind him.

Yuri nodded as she sped up with him to get to the kits. Yuri shook her head at Keiichi. "No, it's too cold for swimming."
Tsukiko reached over Keiichi so that she could touch the water too, and giggled as she felt it's cool surface on her paw.

"I doubt it would be good for swimming. You could catch a cold," Latte warned his kits. "And don't panic if you fall in!" He looked worriedly to the rock, hoping that it wasn't loose and wouldn't tumble into the fast flowing stream.
"Aww...." Keiichi pouted a little, but decided it was more fun to play with the water. As soon as he had fully immersed a paw into the freezing water, steam rose up in a billowing cloud around him. He squeaked, surprised, and ran to hide behind Yuri.

Yuri looked at the steam, and laughed a little before placing a paw on Keiichi to calm him. "It's okay, you must be more like your grandfather." She thought for a moment. "Well, your grandfather from your father's side."
Tsukiko yelped as Keiichi's paw steamed and then looked at hers again. It wasn't doing anything. She pouted and stuck more of her arm into the water for hopes of making it steam.

Latte smiled down at Tsukiko. "Don't worry, Tsuki, the power might come to you later on in your life." He paused a moment to stroke her fur. "And who knows? You may have some other unknown power within you."
"Kweally?" Keiichi glanced down at his paws and then at Latte's. "Does this mean Papa can do it too?" he asked, his eyes glued on the stream though he was still hiding behind Yuri.

Even though she didn't think the question was directed to her, she answered. "I don't believe your father can, but I know some of his siblings can."
Tsukiko pouted. "But I want power now."

"Tsukiko, listen. There's a lot of powers out there, and I know you have at least one of them. But for now, you need to wait a bit. Can you do that for me?" Latte used his best fatherly voice to convince his daughter that she was indeed special, but not to make her overly vain. "Now then, shall we walk along the strem?"
Keiichi's eyes grew wide as he digested this new information. "So...uncle and aunty can do this?" His eyes were sparkling with admiration, but then he noticed Tsukiko's unhappiness. "Tsuki, you can share my power," he said hopefully.

Yuri nodded at Keiichi before smiling at Latte. "Yes, let us."
Tsukiko pouted a little more before smiling at Keiichi. "Really? Thank you!" She pounced on him and laughed.

As Latte continued to walk, he noticed a bulging tree root that was somewhat close to the stream. He shrugged, telling himself that his family would notice it and walk over it without tripping.
"Yeah!" Keiichi grinned all over as soon as his sister was happier, not noticing the tree root. He stubbed his paw on it, arms flailing, he dangled precariously over the fast-flowing stream. "Help!"

Tsukiko didn't notice the branch either, but some weird feeling made her walk aside from it. She would later learn that such an ability was called 'extrasensory'.
Yuri's ears twitched on end and she ran over to lean and grab the nape of Keiichi's neck and pulled him onto the land. She blinked as she set him down, something about his taking to fire not quite setting correctly with her bug-attributes and causing her to grow light-headed.

Latte blinked as the events took place before his eyes, barely able to register that his son was in danger. He cursed his slow reactions before hurrying over. "Are you alright?" he asked worriedly after nodding gratefully at his mate.
Keiichi shuddered, trying not to imagine what would have happened if he had fallen in. "Th-thank you, mother," he said shakily, trying to look away from the river.

Tsukiko ran over and clinged to Keiichi. "Are you okay Nii-san?" She asked before wondering where the words nii-san had come from.
Yuri put on a strained smile as her vision blurred. "A-are you alright... Keiichi?"

Latte sat beside Yuri, trying to see what the problem was. "Is it...a reaction? he asked, his eyebrows furrowed in concentration as he tried to pinpoint the cause of her distress. "You don't look well...we should go home if this is bothering you."
"S-sort of," Keiichi replied with a weak and shaky smile. "No need to worry about me," he added with a falsely cheerful voice. He looked at his mother, worried that he had done something wrong, because she looked a bit pained. "Oka-san, are you alright?" He blinked, suddenly realizing that he was speaking a different language, and that he understood what Tsukiko had told him before.

Yuri shook her head, she didn't want to be the one to ruin their family outing. And when she made up her mind, she was stubborn as a bull. "No really... I'm just fine..."
Tsukiko's ear twitched at the word 'Oka-sama' and wondered how she new it was their mom. She looked at Keiichi, puzzled, before just smiling to herself and shrugging the whole thing off. She then looked back at their mom with a look of concern.

Latte frowned a little before nodding reluctantly. He knew how stubborn Yuri could be, and he respected her wishes as always. "Alright then," he said in a cheerful voice. "Let's continue. We'll drop by for lunch soon."
Keiichi shot a quick look at Tsukiko, wondering if she had noticed the language slip also. Apparently she had. He grinned to himself, before standing back up and dusting himself off. "Let's a go!" he said at the mention of lunch.
