Vance shoved the tree branches out of his way, eyes darting around cautiously. He had been out on the look-out since the daybreak but so far he had spotted nothing. It was getting dark, best to head for cover. Humans had poor eyesight in the dark, which was a big disadvantage. He shifted the weight of his shot gun onto his left shoulder. The gun wasn’t for vampires, he wasn’t that stupid not know it didn’t work on them- it was for those humans…that wanted to aid those beasts.
Vance’s foot steps jolt to a halt when he hear soft rustling behind him. It wasn’t a vampire. Didn’t smell like one. He spun quickly, aiming the gun. Realizing who it was, Vance scowled and lowered his weapon. “’The hell you doing here Vi?” he barked quite rudely.

The young lady rolled her eyes at her brother and gave a violent yank on her left hiking boot, stumbling along the process. She blew at the strand of hair that fell across her eyes. It seemed as if she had just ran out of the house, hair wild, clothes ruffled and shoes not even on proper.
“What do you think I’m doing here? Sightseeing?” Violet returned sarcastically. She grabbed the pistol she had laid down on the ground and tucked it securely into the back of her shorts. “I can't believe you didn't even notice me, and you call yourself a tracker. And my god, you do have a dumb habit of walking and then stopping every five seconds.”
She walked off before Vance could yell at her for being insane and shoo her back. Violet knew what he would say- ‘you’re too young Vi, you’ll get killed in a matter of seconds, blah, blah, blah." She was tired of being treated like a child, ‘don’t do this Vi! Be careful Vi! You’re too small to do that Vi!” She was going with Vance and there was northing he could do about it, it wouldn’t be smart to mess around with a feisty huntress with a loaded pistol.

Julian chuckled at Rosalyn's glare. It was nice to see she had a loving family. At least, lovning enough she could stand to live with them. That took some guilt off Julian's mind.
"Well, thank you deeply for your hospitality. But, so I have an idea what to wear, what is it that humans do for fun nowadays? I must admit, I haven't been paying as much attention to the shifting times as I should have."
Julian glanced down at his ensamble as reference. When was a dark velvet coat over a properly-frilled white shirt and hunting boots not in style?

Rosalyn smiled knowingly at the way he observed his garments and fought the urge to giggle. "In this day and age..They go out dancing at clubs. Not dancing like you, or me, or Mikalos, or even Aaron did. There are ballroom dancing clubs, but the ones Aaron like to go to are modern. With bars, and scantily clad women..That sort of thing", Rosalyn explained. "I am never quite so exposed as the human females, but I do have outfits that can cause a bit of a ruckus. I don't wear them much anymore, I didn't like having human males following me around and trying to cop a feel", She explained.

Mikalos shrugged. "It's not you, Aaron, I just got an odd feeling. And not being able to see our dear Rosalyn made me feel apprehensive for some reason...", Mikalos explained as they walked quickly through the forest. Suddenly Mikalos stopped, and he looked around rapidly. "I smell humans...", he murmured almost imperceptibly. "let's get to Rosalyn..now", Mikalos was rarely so darkly serious, but now was one of those times. He started jogging, which was the equivalent of a human's flat out run. The presence of humans was disconcerting, they had to be together, if something was going to go down...

Aaron felt a shudder go down his spine as he too picked up his pace. There was the distinct scent of human in the air. He liked humans, really. But they tended not to like his kind very much. Not that he could blame them, when he thought on it. And thinking on it was something he did not want to do; getting stuck on his past would do him no good if these humans were here for a fight. Aaron suppressed the painful memory as he broke in upon Rosalyn and the stranger. Aaron spared the man a glance that really did not do his elegant visage justice, then to Rosalyn. "Mikalos scented humans in the area." He murmurs to her, finally seeming to take the matter seriously.

Julian looked strangley at Rosalyn. He couldn't quiet follow what she had just explained to him.
"Cop a feel? I do not understand. And why would a female expose her skin in such a way as to look like a common harlot? Has human society really deteriorated so much in so few years?"
Julian glanced at the new arrival to thier discussion. Humans? Usually Julian would be more than happy to find the mis-placed meal but he ha told Rosalyn he would not and he was a man of his word.

Vance walked on, pushing deeper into the forest, away from the town. Behind him, he could hear the low muttering of his younger sister. She was cursing at the twigs and branches that made fresh cuts on her bare skin. “No one told you, Vi, to wear shorts, you knew you would be in a forest,” he called out behind him. He ignored the rude finger Violet thrust up at him. That was his younger perverse sister, always doing things contrary to what is accepted. If it was disgusting for young ladies to be gutting fishes- she would gut them. If it was improper for young ladies to wear revealing dresses, Violet would wear them. Just to show that she didn’t care about society’s view.
"Where we heading?" Violet called out from behind him.
Vance frowned, he had sworn that this path would be right. There should have been a clearing that would lead them back to town. He looked up at the sky and frowned, the clouds were moving and hovering them them now, sun gradually disappearing from view. If they didn't pick up the pace... Vance wasn't too fond of the nighttime, especially in a forest...who knew what might happen to you.
His foot jolted to a halt and his head jerked up as a reaction. "Vi, get up here quick," Vance ordered. His eyes darted around alertly, fingers gripping tighter to the gun. He smelt them. Vampires. Two? Three? Four? How many were there?
"Stay by my side, don't move a fraction," he whispered quietly to his sister.

"They are close, now." Aaron continued quietly as he heard the soft rustling of footfalls through the underbrush. The sound soon stopped and Aaron frowned, waiting for it to start again. He harbored some hope that all they had discovered were a couple of lost humans from the nearby city. Completely harmless and only out to stir up mischief by necking in the woods. But if that were the case, shouldn't they still be moving about? Finally Aaron seemed to notice Julian fully. He looked at the stranger curiously, but said nothing to him. He was certainly easy on the eyes. And old; Aaron took in the outdated mode of dress, his eyes traveling down then up along Julian's form. Much older than Aaron, but hell, who wasn't?
