A small shiver ran it's way down her little spine and she shook it off. It was almost as if she felt him staring at her, wondering what to do. She, naturally, had no idea what to do. What good might she accomplish this way, if any? What did she truly desire? She was small, and little, and new nothing of things she could form with words. Only emotions that compelled her onward forcefully. His sigh was an indication of something she couldn't quite place, but gently, she leaned forward and licked his hand. Perhaps he would be disgusted, or back away, or maybe he would speak up and talk to her. If he didn't say something, she couldn't know.
Wouldn't know. After all... she was blind.

She.. licked him. It was kind of gross, but at the same time... It made him think. Even though she was clearly in pain, and even though things looked pretty shitty for her, she still reached out to him, in a gentle gesture.
He never would do that.
The only person he was ever nice to was Emre. And sometimes his sister and his other dad. Usually because he had to. Everyone else, save for his jerk father whom he hated with a fiery passion, he treated with indifference. But she.. she had reached out to him. He stared down at her for a few seconds, then sighed again.
"Would... You like to sit with me and Emre while I work on... something?" he asked hesitantly.

"Sit...with you and Emre?" Amelia returned incredulously after only a moment of processing it. Gingerly, she tilted her head to the side very slightly. It was a wonder that he hadn't cried out in disgust and rid himself of her right then. Clearly, he should have. She was worthless and miserable. What good was she to anyone? Pathetic and unloved. There was nothing good about her. She ruined lives and sat poorly, only able to speak countless apologies that amounted to nothing in the end.
Because in the end... she was still alone, dreaming of things that could never be.
"If... if it's... all right..." she went on, ducking her head submissively, "I would... I would like that..." To like something. To enjoy it. To ...be happy. She couldn't say she was happy, she didn't really know what happy was. But whatever emotion she felt now, it was slightly different from the pain that normally coursed through her chest. It was that same pain, but sharper, brighter. Maybe worse, not quite better, but new. Different. And that was enough.

"Yeah," he huffed. "That's what I said, isn't it?" He sighed softly and moved off for a second to get more paper to start over. Emre stayed by her side reassuringly, so that she wouldn't think that they were leaving her.
When Alter returned, he set the paper out on a dry table, then came back for her. Gently, he scooped her up and carried her over to where he was working and set her on the table. "There."

Gently Amelia reached out a shaking paw to Emre, trying to test where he was in distance to herself. And then she was lifted yet again and placed onto a table. Her head tilted to the side again, a habit she seemed to have with increasing intensity lately. The entire situation was just so absolutely strange that she couldn't quite understand the basis of it. She was just living through it.
"Thank you," she murmured as she curled herself up into a ball and urged to press close to the table. If she disturbed his work again, Amelia was sure Alter would not be so forgiving towards her a second time.

"You're... Welcome?" he mumbled, as if he wasn't really sure if she was or not. Settling back down in a chair, he pulled the fresh paper forward, glancing at the small pup. He scowled at himself for doing so, and dove back into his planning.
Emre hopped up on the table and curled next to her, his tail wrapped around her. He nosed at her gently, smiling warmly at her.

Blinking in slight surprise, she moved her head in the direction of where the tail came from, and the body that was now curled nearby. "Emre?" she asked softly, hoping not to disturb the other, whom she could tell was working again merely by the intense silence that broke through. She couldn't see smiles, and she couldn't tell very many things, but at least she could vaguely understand the world outside her head, if only a little.

Emre yipped cheerily at her, earning a glare from Alter which he of course promptly ignored. Alter scowled at that and dove back into his work. He mumbled to himself, scowling and sneering, but after a while, something seemed to be working. His mutterings got more frequent, but there was an almost excited quality to them.
"Emre! I've got it!"

Curling about herself gently, the little blind thing tried not to disturb her new... companions? Whatever they were. The less they heard of her, the better things went. Even when Emre seemed to defend her or protect her, she took little notice to try and make it seem less like she was intruding. Still so young but already such a bother. The pain in her chest seemed to blossom with the idea. And so, she began to doze off to this concept before being startled out by Alter's exclamation. Yelping, she jumped up and fell off the desk... again. Geeze! She was just a walking klutz. Or falling one rather! More a danger to herself than anyone else.

Alter looked up startled as she fell. "... dumb girl," he mumbled, but he picked her up and set her back on the table--without Emre yapping at him and telling him to. Distracted and pleased by his new--and better!--plan, he even gave her head a rub before turning to Emre and explaining his plan.

Blinking in surprise as a reaction, more than because she could see, she found herself purring against the touch and then startled more because of the reaction. She wasn't used to such affections and found herself distracted by it. Still... she padded forward lightly, or whichever way seemed like a good forward... and tried to feel out his plans. She couldn't see them, but she felt like for all he'd done for her, she too wanted to listen. Not that it was her business, so she shirked down a little, wondering if she should just excuse herself quietly and hope it worked for him.

When Alter realized she had moved forward and was pawing at his plans, his first instinct was to yell and push her back. After all, he couldn't risk her ruining these! His second instinct was to wait, and watch her to see what she was doing. Surprisingly, he went with his second, his eyes on her warily.

She was careful this time. Stepping lightly as if the desk was made of coal, as if she knew she had to walk upon it and could not avoid it, so might as well tread lightly at the very least. She pressed her nose gently down, onto the paper, as if getting a feel for it, before she stood a little straight and pushed back her ears. She tilted her head in curiosity, aiming to turn her head towards him, but not really knowing what direction that was. So instead she sat herself down again, accidentally on top of the papers, but doing them no harm for once.
