Aekepi caught the ball before it bounced, and dribbled back toward the free throw line, before doubling again, and coming straight down the middle, this time with no deviation. He put his agility to good use, shoving off the ground in a leap that some of the more famous basketball players would envy. Given, it was close to the basket, but Aeka could definitely jump if he wanted to - and he soared RIGHT over Carl's head to sink another. 4 - 3.

Carl stared at him for a moment, impressed. Strong as the avian was, he couldn't yet achieve reaches like that. Aekepi wasn't even feeling well and yet launched himself far above the presumed limitations of his being. The bird boy smiled and called over his way whilst retreating the ball, "Good one! Keep that up and you'll sprout wings!" Whether or not the coyote would take that as a compliment would remain to be seen, but Carl wasn't about to waste time. Taking the ball lower to the ground, he stealthily wove himself around, under, and beside Aekepi. He bided his time well, and then shot! The ball sank lazily through the net, bouncing right off the ground.

Aekepi landed on his paws, and mock-cheered for himself before swishing his tail lightly, and walking over to Carl, ball in hand. He held it out.
"That was.... your fifth point.... You.... make this.... free.. throw, you... win the game..... Lose, and.... YOU are back... to zero."
He grinned, and tossed the ball in his hand for a moment before finally making sure Carl got ahold of it.

Carl nodded and began the shot, positioning himself properly. He had shot around Aekepi for the most part, but this was going to be a bit more difficult and he wasn't sure he could make such a direct shot. Carl dribbled the ball for a moment before resigning himself to it and shooting high and lending it a great burst of strength to back it. Much to his amazement, the shot went far above Aekepi and straight through the net. He'd won.
He'd won!
Carl whooped, jumping up and down before racing over to Aekepi. In good sportsmanship, he offered his hand and a wink. "Good game, man. You played it close there."

He had to kneel, but he did, and took the hand offered to him, shaking it as he spoke. "Good... game..." or was that panted? Looking pretty winded again, he made his way over to the bench from before, and flopped down on it. The sun had started to set now - they'd been out here for a few hours. Whatever. It was all good with him. Now if he could catch his breath again things would be perfect.

Carl followed, scaling it as he had before. The bird reclaimed his previous spot on Aekepi's chest and curled up there. He leaned his head to look at his newfound friend from a different perspective and could only smile at the slightly worn look he'd managed to bestow. "Was it good for you? You look a little winded."

The color rose in Aekepi's cheeks so fast that they were pale one moment, and red the next. He politely coughed, and tried to catch his breath enough to formulate an answer that didn't completely sound like he'd just had intercourse with his cousin to anyone else who happened to be listening.
"It was... good. Best I've had in ages."
And he failed, only making it worse. It was a facepalm moment if ever there was one as he tried to make it better.
"I mean... I'm not in shape, so it was difficult for me to score..."
Worse, that.
"Err... That is, you were doing better than me, even though I'm bigger..."
Oh gods, even worse. He shut up before he dug himself even deeper, now BEET red in the face.

The poor boy, Carl that was, had no idea what position he'd put his cousin in. Being a 'newborn' teenager, he hadn't exactly been educated in this delicate subject material. The fact Velvets didn't even HAVE the characteristics to associate it with didn't help. Thus the boy only nestled in closer and nodded, pleased.
"Good, I'm a little inexperienced. I'm glad you were my first time with a real partner. I mean, yeah, there are other velvets - but none that rivaled my size or stamina like you. We should do this more often, when you've recovered."
Only after he'd prattled on did he notice the redness his cousin had procured and the livid heartbeat beneath him. He arched a non-existent brow in question.
"Are you ok? I didn't make you pull something, did I? You're awfully red..."

"LOVELY weather we're having today, isn't it?" Aekepi said, perhaps just a little too loudly. He was red enough to cause chuckles among anyone else who saw, and had to change the topic, or fall over laughing. That, or melt from embarrassment. He stretched, allowed the eagle to find better purchase on his chest, over his wildly beating heart.
"Nice and cool, this evening." he continued, looking up at the skin. "Pretty sunset."

The sudden announcement caused him to start a little, turning away from him to look at the sunset. Carl shifted a little placing a hand over the heart.
"Y-Yeah...pretty sunset, and it's nice and cool as well. I hope I didn't get you too hot, playing basketball. Are you feeling ok?"

A soft chuckle came from the side lines as what appeared to be a female fox with long black hair. Blue eyeliner and pink lipstick added to the feminine appearance. Even her hands had painted nails. But her figure seemed a little off. Then again her outfit was definately female. A soft orange tail swished back and forth behind the blue skirt she wore, which ended at mid-thigh. A pair of boots graced her feet up to her knees. The pattern over all was asian. "I'm sure he's perfectly fine. Just not use to so much activity."
That voice was Bijin, one of Aekapei's benefactors. The fox was already selling a few of his designs online, which was the only way to bring income in at the moment but it paid for the coyote's therapy. "I see you are already making friends Aeka-chan. That is good." The female fox bowed in a japanese way to the bird. "Ohayo, I am Bijin."

Aekepi KNEW that voice, and his tail did a happy wag as he looked up from the bench.
"Jin! I was hoping you'd drop b... by. What are you WEARING? ... And where can I get something like that? Just not so... you know... I love that pattern."
He made sure that Carl was safe before he sat up, and stared at his friend in awe. He wanted one... In male fashion of course - but he wanted one nonetheless.

With Aekepi's aid, Carl repositioned himself upon the newly righted figure of his living perch. The small harpy looked eagerly up at the newcomer and raised his talons in greeting. He didn't speak too hastily to this new person. Moreso because he wasn't sure whether or not it was a he or a she and didn't want to cause offense by trying to charm the wrong spectrum. Than again, was there a wrong spectrum? He decided it to be so, at least for the moment, and settled on a generic sort of introduction.
"Hey, how's it going? I'm Carl."

"Why I made it silly. I make all my own clothes you know that. No store carries what I love to wear in a man's size. Rather silly if you ask me." The now announced male flipped his hair over his shoulder and sat down next to the two of them. Long white legs crossed ever so delicately. His kitsune blood made him seem quite beatiful, almost erethral. He patted the coyote boy's head. "I'll make you a more....masculine....version if yo like. As not everyone prefers my sense of style." He paused for a moment, his delicate fox ears listening. Aeka's heart was all a flutter. He just needed to calm down. Placing a hand over Aeka's eyes he spoke very softly. "Just remember. Visualize your heart calming down as you rest. It will help."
He smiled to the avian friend Aeka-chan had made and nodded. "It is very nice to meet you Carl. Aeka has a weak heart that we are trying to make stronger. Like an muscle it needs exercise. Might I ask what kind of creature you are? I have never seen one such as you before."

Aekepi nodded at the advice, and closed his eyes as per suggestion, envisioning his fluttering heart slowing down, picturing the valves easing in their frantic opening and closing. It seemed to work - at least a little. His heart slowed, as his breathing decreased to match what he envisioned. It still hurt - but not as bad. And he was able to stop shaking... something he hadn't realized he'd been doing until now. Once he opened his eyes, he felt much calmer. Still sick, but better than he had been. Stupid heart. But these things took time. Lots of it. Not like he had anything BUT time now...
He noticed 'Jin talking to Carl, and smirked a little at what he assumed the man had inferred.
"Carl's my cousin, 'Jin. His mom's Donna - Dragon's sister."
Sighing, he leaned back against the bench.
"I'd love you to make me some clothes, 'Jin. Seems that all I've worn for years now is plain black, blue, or white. And jeans. I think I need a makeover. How much would I owe you, though? I'm sure Dragon can pay. Gods only know he has enough."
