Zap relaxed when she heard Makaa running over. While she waited, she eyed the piece of sky...It hit the sandy ground, and fluttered a bit. Just how you'd expect the sky to fall, really. Slowly like a feather.
She tilted her head back as instructed, and grimaced as sand on Makaa's paw got up her nose. She'd worry about that later though. A little wiggling, and pop! She let out a sigh of relief and plopped down. "Thanks for the help, Makaa!" Hmm...he'd saved her. Would a hug be a good way to thank him? She'd think so, but then...

"Well, I said I'd protect you. Getting your head out of sticky situations kind of applies," Makaa replied with a shrug, sitting back and looking at the view again. He'd noticed that in her exploration and ultimate head-getting-stuckage, she had lost the piece of sky. A part of him was sad over that because he thought it looked good on her, however he wasn't going to say anything about it. He didn't trust her enough to give her leverage over him, namely his enjoyment of degrading colors. Plus, he shouldn't really care, in theory.

"I guess so." She watched him move to appear disinterested and sighed. Well may as well (carefully) explore some more. Maybe she could even hop down and get the piece of sk-HEY!
She'd peeked down to see just where that piece of sky had gone and to her surprise, there was a fat lizard munching away on it! "..." Perfect! She could get the sky back (in pieces at least) and even repay Makaa for the one he'd lost.
With a little growl she was over the side of the rock. Plumes of sand rose from below, and the sounds of cub-roars and lots of scrabbling. Then, finally, "I got 'im! Makaa, come see!"

One minute Zapa was right there beside him, the next minute, she was gone. Makaa blinked, but followed the sounds to see she had somehow gotten down between the rocks were she had dropped the piece of sky. He couldn't really see much because of the sand, but when he heard her call him down, he carefully jumped down into the space.
It was cooler down there, and shaded. But despite being happy for a retreat from the heat, he was slowly getting angry at her. What could have possessed her to drop down there? She could hurt herself! Or there could be something poisonous down here, hiding in the shade. "This better be good, Zapa. You shouldn't go hoping down into places that could have hurtful things hiding in them," he said lowly, blinking against the sand. When he finally spotted her, covered in sand and with a lizard in her grasp, he sighed, shaking his head, a small smile on his maw.

Zap was grinning ear to ear, with the treat safely in her grasp. There! THERE! She'd seen it, for just a second! Makaa was smiling! She nearly dropped the lizard in her excitement, but she managed to contain herself and trot over to hold the lizard out to her friend.
"'Ere! 'S good, huh? For earlier!" She mumbled around the flopping dead thing while trying to get him to take it. Eventually she simply placed it at his feet and leapt away, frolicking about in the sand beyond the stones. "Thanks for being my friend, Makaa~!" She called.

Makaa watched her bound off with an almost confused look on his face and a strange feeling in his chest. She had called him her friend. He wasn't sure how he should feel about that, really. He guessed he'd just have to figure out everything later on. For the moment, he lightly touched what was left of the sky-piece, and then left the crevice. He set the lizard's body off to one side so that another creature could come and get it, as he didn't really want to eat something like that, unless he had killed it himself, and then headed back towards home himself.
