"Ah, the good china," she remarked cheerfully at the paper plates, looking around for plastic forks to compliment them. She found an unused package in a drawer and pulled two for them to use. "And the fine silver. You know, I love when Sven comes and bails us out. It makes life so much easier. He's such a sweetie."

Alex shrugged, forwning slightlty. "Yeah sure, I love getting babysat. Best feeling ever at age twenty-one." He replied, shoveling more tortellini into his mouth. Sven was great, but sometimes the concern he radiated was a little over much in Alex's opinion. He already had two parents in the Resistance, three was way too many.

She waved her plastic fork at him, a plump piece of pasta skewered on the end. "Any love is good love, love. You try to take the world on your shoulders and you end up like Sven, with too many worry lines and a bunch of grown children he feels the need to tend to. I've done the homeless thing, the one where I'm the only person to rely on. The best feeling is having a family that wants to babysit me."
She beamed with flawless cheer, nibbling on her tortellini one piece at a time. Her heels knocked against the cupboard beneath the counter she sat on as she kicked them back and forth.
Sometimes it was easy to forget Alex had been born and raised in the overprotective environment with the Red Hounds. Keeli was just kind of dumped into it after living on her own most of her teenage years.

Alex shrugged, rubbing the maroon canine on the back of his neck. Every now and then the tattoo still itched like new. "I guess I can see where you're coming from. Trust me though, spending high-school under camera surveillance was no picnic." He chuckled, inwardly groaning as he remembered random instances from years back.

She chuckled. "Did I really have it much different? I spent most of high school in detention whenever I showed up." Being off and on the streets had been a serious cancer to her education. She'd learned far more after during her years in the resistance than before. Sven didn't want uneducated people filling out his ranks.
She finished off her plate of pasta and hopped off the counter top to put the paper plate and plastic fork in the rubbish bin under the sink.
"So what entertainment does this place have? I hope somebody was smart enough to stock it with movies or something."

Alex nodded, removing his own empty plate to the trash and washing his hands quickly. "Maybe not so different then." At her mention of entertainment, Alex grinned widely and beckoned her to follow, eventually coming to a comfortable living room with a good sized television He stopped before a medium sized cabinet, which upon opening revealed a wide array of DVDs. "Courtesy of me. You're welcome." He said rather smugly.

"After my own heart," she sighed dramatically, skimming over the variety of DVDs and picking out familiar titles with her eyes. "I'll watch anything, so why don't you take your pick? I really have no preference." She glided her fingers along the smooth backs of the cases as she read their titles.

He groaned. "You cannot make me pick one....if I don't already have one in mind I can never choose." He dropped back onto one of the couches, flinging an arm over his eyes dramatically. 'Just, close your eyes and grab one or something."

Keeli slapped a hand over her eyes and plucked one off the shelf at random, spinning around and striking a pose. "Bond. James Bond." She shot him with a finger gun before turning to the television and finding the DVD player.
"Oh dear, this means technology. Don't worry. When I push enough buttons I usually get it right."
She was exaggerating a little. She got it in the player and turned on before flopping onto the couch with the remote and turned to him, eyes dead serious. "Now I have one question and I demand you answer truthfully. Does this place have popcorn?"

Alex watched with one brow raised in amusement as she put the DVD in, shaking his head at her comment. "Don't worry, this particular device doesn't bite." He answered her serious expression with a matching one. "Didn't we just have dinner? Neve rmind." He thought aloud, before looking around suspiciously, then leaning toward her secretively. "It is hidden......in the cupboard......above the dishwasher." the words came out quietly and with painful separations.

Peeling herself away from the couch, she lifted her chin daringly. "I'm on a mission. If I'm not back in an hour, come and save me." Flicking Alex a parting salute, she strolled back to the kitchen to locate the dishwasher and said cupboard above it that contained the popcorn.
Microwaves these days were great. They all came with popcorn buttons. She never feared burning her delicious treats anymore.
The popcorn revolved in the microwave while she returned to stand between the kitchen and living room.

Bemused once again, he chuckled, replying that he would count the minutes just to be sure. But he was notorious for his impatience, and soon appeared, leaning around the door frame into the kitchen. "By heaven, are you done yet? I'll be asleep before we even start this movie!" Alex whined childishly, wondering suddenly when Sven was going to decide to arrive.

She frowned in disapproval. "Tell the microwave. Maybe if you yell loud enough it will speed up. It's a whole three minutes, Alex. Don't pop your cork." Her Irish accent came on thick and heavy as her sarcasm level rose. There always seemed to be a direct correlation with those two.
The timer dinged so she jumped to remove it, holding it gingerly with the tips of her fingers as it steamed.
"There, happy? We have popcorn, I didn't go missing, and you managed to survive the wait." She poked his chest as she walked by, coveting the popcorn to herself. "And we lived happily ever after with yummy popcorn."

"Keeli, you greatly overestimated my patience. Three minutes might as well be days. There are a thousand and one things you can have done in three measly minutes." Alex ranted casually as he followed the buttery-goodness back into the movie-room. Keeli merely being the agent of its arrival, Alex was eager to get some of the hot, fluffy popcorn that she was being such a miser of. Scooping up the remote, Alex dimmed the lights to a comfortable level, and pressed play. The images of chase scenes and gun fights soon flashed across the screen, and he settled comfortably into the couch to enjoy the movie and hopefully its accompanying snack.

"Why isn't it," she wondered, settling on the couch and offering the popcorn across to him, "that in real life fight scenes aren't as cool. I've been in plenty of fights before, and not once have I felt the thrill of slow motion or looked that cool when I dodged bullets. This is a sham!" She gestured to the TV with one hand, popping popcorn into her mouth with the other. "And there is a serious lack of banged elbows after these movie fights. Or maybe I'm just prone to elbow banging. Do you ever bang your elbows in fights?"
