Yaruka listened to Lynod with silent amusement at the idea. She also took in the disapproval from Setsushi and yet she continued to smile in that strange, knowing fashion that she might not have been famous for, but it had earned her a slight reputation for possibly being a snoop. Of course, that wasn't the case. She looked to Setsushi when he inquired about soulmates and the look that crossed her face seemed whistful.

"It's not a custom so much as it is a state of mind and being. The idea of a 'soulmate' is having a deep connection with someone that surpasses just the ideals of friendship and love, going into a more cosmic and spiritual sense." She tried to explain it to the Porcelain, her voice hinting to a touch of longing.

"There's no real procedure to it. It just sort of...happens. It's a moment when you meet someone, look into their eyes and feel as though you could see into their soul....into their heart and suddenly know exactly what they are thinking and feeling, and know that they see the same in you. It's as though Fate itself has placed that person before you to bring you together....and no one other than that person could ever understand you so deeply.

"It's an emotional and spiritual connection that can grow stronger over time, especially with intimacy....but that shouldn't be the only part of focus. When you find your soulmate, you don't necessarily need intimacy...you can just be near them, talk to each other or just sit in silence in each others' arms...and you just feel complete."

For a moment, she's silent as she looks off into the distance. A hazy gloss seems to shine over her emerald eyes, and soon a slight pink tinges her cheeks.

"I'm sorry...I'm babbling a bit. Back to the point." Her voice wavered a bit, but she still held a confidant smile. "It's hard to find the right person. You may try things with other people and think that they may be your soulmate, which makes you start to form a bond in yourself....though the other person may not feel it. Therefore, it's one-sided...and unrequitted. That makes it a lot harder when things go sour and you separate. It hurts you much more, because you wanted to believe so hard in your heart and soul that you two were meant to be....but for one reason or another, the connection was never made and your devotion was wasted on a heart that did not know your worth....or, perhaps, never wanted to know."

It was at that point that the usual confidence she held had broken and the smile had long-faded. Her wings had huddled closer to her, hugging at her sides and she turned her face away quickly as her eyes gave way to a few stray tears. She used her long curly hair as a veil.

"I'm sorry. Personal experience and all..." She quickly brushed the tears away and composed herself again before facing them. "Half of my heritage is a creature that mates for life. We find our soulmates and bond with them, like Porcelain would. It goes deep and if it's broken, it's shattering."

And has Lynod listens to Yaruka, his eyes soften as the past tightens around her, coating her in a pain that can't be forgotten. He slowly makes his way to her, his fingers extending towards her face.

"May I?" asks the human gently, even as his hand moves to brush away the strands of hair that mask her face. When he sees the mask that she has constructed in such a short time, he smiles before releasing a gentle sigh.

"There's no need to hide what you feel from us," says the human, experience dotting his face in each wrinkle of his face, "We're old hats at sorrow, you see. While we can't wipe away the pain, we can at least be shoulders for you to cry on."

Setsushi lets Lynod comfort Yaruka, hanging back himself, as if he feels a bit shy or awkward -- but he sends feelings of kindness and compassion towards her. Though Setsushi cannot truly understand her words, as he has never felt such a profound loss himself, he can at least give her his sympathy.

Then among her species, as well, great joy comes comes coupled with great sorrow, the latter sometimes stronger than the former... That is something they seem to share with his people.

He pauses, then shakes his head briskly. "This is too sorrowful a topic," he begins, his tone a little hesitant; "We should not linger upon it."

Would Yaruka perhaps like to accompany Lynod and Setsushi to the shop, where he will prepare a warm soup and they can talk of cheerier things?

Yaruka looked to Lynod with a sad, but gentle smile. She did accept his sympathy and offer of comfort, but she was far too used to hiding her weaker emotions for the sake of her family. It was a well-practiced art for her, choosing to show strength so that others would not feel lost or vulnerable....part of which earned her the nickname of The Mother, amongst a select few.

"I know that others have experienced such things as I have. It's just difficult for me to let my pain show." She tried to explain, hoping they wouldn't take offense to her sudden emotional masking. "I've learned to hide my weakness so my family won't suffer."

She nodded in agreement to Setsushi and offered a warmer, more genuine smile.

"Yes, that sounds like an excellent idea. I can make some of my best hot chocolate, if you two would like?"

Lynod smiles faintly at Yaruka before nodding, beginning to once more take the path towards Setsushi's shop.

"That sounds delicious, thank you," says Lynod before lingering on the previous topic, "But please know that, if you ever need us, we are happy to be there for you. You are a good woman, Miss Yaruka, worthy of care and attention."

Lynod looks to Setsushi, a broad grin replacing his slight smile as he raises his own eyebrows slightly.

"Alright, now we can move on to cheerful things," says Lynod playfully.
