Once or twice a cat came bye, but Shimmerflight had them scurry off as soon as they came, not letting herself leave a trace of suspicion in their minds. Yawning she looked towards the horizon, glad to see the sun was beginning to set and would soon touch the edge of the world in a few minutes.

After doing some what he thought to be unsuspicious detective work, Magmafang learned that Swiftclaw and Spottedheart were on patrol, among other cats. It would be easy to make a fool of the idiot Swiftclaw, but he wasn't so sure about his mother. What exactly would she do if she found him out?
He shook the thought away. He wasn't about to fear his own mom! This'll just be a harmless prank, like when he was a kit~
He headed to back to report to Shimmerflight, totally into the plan. He completely forgot about trying to get back at Harbingersight.

Seeing Magmafang Shimmerflight bounded over to him. "So who's coming?" She asked, excited. Hopefully no up-tight warriors that will come and than chase them and then find out and then rat them out and then get them in trouble... cause that would suck. She lashed her tail at the thought, indeed, if any of those kinds of cats were on the patrol there jobs would become so much more difficult as they'd have to pick out certain sub-groups from the main.

Quickly, Magmafang relayed the list of the warriors who would be on patrol. He thought about how those cats could react. What would happen if they didn't get scared or surprised? What would happen if they chased him and Shimmerflight, and found out who they were? No way, that would never happen. They were too awesome for that.
Still, he couldn't help feeling somewhat paranoid...

Shimmerflight sensed his paranoia, "don't worry, we won't get caught. And besides, if we do, we'll proudly apologize, what's the worst the can do? We'll acknowledge we acted like kits and felt that in such dreary days we needed more enlightenment." She nodded, "the patrol will be out soon, we should get ready now." Quickly she padded off towards a large mud puddle she came across while he was gone doing detective research.

It was true that if they were caught, Magmafang would just say that he was bored and wanted something to do besides hunting or patroling. But they wouldn't get caught, he told himself again.
He followed Shimmerflight to the mud puddle, which he looked at in disgust.
"I suppose I'm gonna have to get mud all over my fur again..."
Oh how he hated the feeling of mud sticking all over his fur.

Shimmerflight snickered, "get use to it, you'll be covered in mud for half the night and you'll get slathered in mud again somewhere in the future probably." Holding her breath she jumped into the puddle, causing bits to fly everywhere. Quickly she rolled around till there wasn't a path of white or purple left on her body, excluding her eyes of course. She blinked, twitching an ear. "See? It's not that bad." Unlike Magmafang Shimmerlfight loved to get down and dirty, literally.
Strutting she padded over to a leftover pile of branches and leafs, rolling in it too till she looked like a monstrosity. She grinned, "how do I look~?"

"Like a monster," he replied, refraining from saying anything worse.
Sighing, Magmafang leapt recklessly into the puddle, sending mud flying. He couldn't help having a look of disgust on his face as he rolled and slathered mud all over his body. If he was going to go through with this prank, he'd better do it right.
After plastering the mud on, he walked to a pile of leaves and twigs. He rolled in it until he thought he looked as beastly as Shimmerflight.
"I hope the fun part will come soon..."

"Have patience, recklessness equals accidents. You remember our escape route, right?" She wanted to make sure, as the sun was half way down, and they'd have to be ready soon, and could afford to be careless about any details. Listening for an answer she padded back to where they were gonna hide, making sure that their scents weren't too strong around the area.
Lying down flat in the ditch she waited, blending in well even if there hadn't been shrubbery for cover.

"Yeah, we just head back to that marshy place where I fell in the puddle, right?" Magmafang answered as he followed Shimmerflight to their hiding place.
Now came the waiting... He lay down flat and tried to keep still.
I suppose I can't even make a sound, he thought to himself.
But there was no going back now. They had gotten everything set up, now they just had to go through with it.

It was dark now, and the patrol would swing by soon. Shimmerflight's fur tingled with excitement. Watching, waiting... oh, how the adrenaline got to her! Her blue eyes were slits and vigilant, and her her claws softly kneaded the ground. When she finally heard faint paw steps and voices after what seemed like an eternity to her she poked Magmafang with her tail slightly. They went through all the elaboration of this plan, it was time to stick to it to the end!

Magmafang's muscles tensed as he felt Shimmerflight's tail poke his side and the voices of the patrol come closer. It was finally time.
His heart beat faster and faster, until he finally saw the faint shadows that were the patrol cats. He prepared to jump, pushing away any nervousness or fear. It was now or never...
With a deep, loud "RAWR!" he jumped out behind the unsuspecting patrol.

Shimmerflight jumped out with Magmafang, roaring like a lion as best as she could while trying to look as big as possible. There wasn't as many as cats as she expected, but then again the less the better. Staying only for a second longer she turned tail and ran like a cheetah, a glimpse of their faces hilarious enough for her.
This is good, exactly as planned! As she ran to their hideout she figured that the patrol might not actually give chase, and guess that it was just two Shadowclan troublemakers, as a rogue or monster wouldn't just roar and then suddenly run. "What do we do now?" She hissed to Magmafang, "if we go back to camp or stay out all night it will look suspicious. One of us has to go back after the patrol arrives at camp and the other must stay out all night."

Magmafang ran alongside Shimmerflight, trying hard to suppress laughing after seeing his mother's shocked face, plus the looks of the rest of the patrol.
Then he thought about Shimmerflight's question. He didn't really like the idea of staying out all night... although he could try to do some hunting. He also didn't want to go back to camp and risk being questioned.
"Hm..." he pondered, then he finally decided. "You can go back to camp."

"But it's awful obvious that it was me if I go back, there's probably a lot of cats that already suspect that it was me, and I have no believable alibi." She slowly came to a stop as they finally got to the marshy fogged area. "Alright, how 'bout we just get cleaned off first and then decide who goes back nyah.~" Shaking off the leafs and twigs that covered her body she began to scrape off the dried mud on a rough tree. "Before either of us can go back though we have to do some super fast hunting, like, right now and gather up as much prey as we can." Once most of the mud was off she began to lick off the rest.
