She was quiet. He had been quiet. In her head she was screaming mercilessly at herself and him. Herself for being such an idiot, and him, for being so quiet and making her feel even more foolish.
She made her way through the people to the bar, where Samuel was, ordering herself what looked like straight gin.
"Here's to good company." She said, taking a rather large gulp and wincing as it burned the back of her throat, coughing slightly. It was stronger than she remembered it being.

Samuel chuckled, ruffling his hair back to its usual state and resting his head in his hand.
"I apologize. My temper can run away with me."

"There's nothing to apologize for." Olivia said. "You have every right to be upset with me. I forgot myself and did something really, really stupid."
She downed the rest of the gin and continued to speak, "But at the same time I can't guarentee it won't happen again. I honestly don't mean to, but to put it out on the table, I've been a mother to an energetic and eccentric child for the last two year's of my life. My whole existance has been about Ment ever since he popped up in my shop that fateful evening. I have not courted, I have not dated, I haven't even went out of my house to drink."
She smiled, giving off a laugh and sighing, "To put it simply. I don't know how this dating thing is supposed to work anymore, Samuel. All I know is how to be a mom, and a shop keep. So please, forgive me and bear with me until I understand how to do this again."

"It's simple," Samuel laughed, "When a man attempted to hold your hand, you either politely reject by pulling away, or by taking it." And, learning from his mistakes, he placed his palm upturned on Olivia's leg. She could take it, or she could not. She was getting one of Samuel's rare second chances.
Honestly, Samuel hoped she would take it. It would make the rest of this whole situation so much simpler for him. He didn't want to have to court three women in secret. It was not in his nature.

"I must be the saddest person in the world to be taught how to hold hands again." She muttered with a smile, taking it shyly with a sigh.

Samuel gave her hand a reassuring grip, his face lighting up. Good. Oh, good. He ignored her comment, preferring to not embarrass the woman any further.
"And if said man wished to kiss your cheek?"

"I would enjoy it highly if he did." She replied.

Everything about Samuel was bizarrely genteel, that could not be disputed. However, this kiss, as innocent as it was, seemed to be even more so. He leaned in slowly, eyes closing as if he were to meet Olivia's lips. He did not, of course, but instead placed his lips gently against her cheek before pulling back just as slowly, eyes fluttering open.
Oh, you terrible charmer.
"I'm glad."

Olivia smiled almost ear to ear and blushed, which mostly just made her look even more flushed as the gin had started to set in as her stomach was still empty.
"Would you like to dance, Samuel?"

"No," Samuel laughed, "This is precisely the music I was frightened of...but I will, if you would like to. I just don't want to be left alone."
