Ophelia rubbed her cheek and watched Wisp and Carlisle depart, a bit confused as to what had just happened.
"Yeah, pretty much," she laughed to Casca. "But she's neat - I mean rad - so you've gotta excuse her, right?" She smiled charmingly, starting to warm up after Wisp's hurried complement. "So," she continued, "Who's your Secret Santa?"

"Someone called Ylaine Taylor?" the gargoyle boy said a bit helplessly; Casca tended to switch from worldly to slightly baffled, back and forth. He was still just a kid, after all. "I don't think I've even met her; I only have a photo."
Poor Ophelia, obviously with such a tiny friend circle that she was forced to consider girls like Wisp Darnell neat. "What about you?" he said.

"Grayson," shrugged Ophelia. "Apparently he's a penguin but other than that I don't know the guy."
She shrugged. Her social circle was hopelessly small.

Struggling under the weight of the nicely wrapped gift, Neflheim managed to spot Maddy out of the corner of his eye. Walking over with great difficulty, Neflheim said "Hi Maddy!" He hoped he wasn't intruding on her conversation when he did so.

"Oh, Kashmira! I met her." Kaimi giggled a little. "She's pretty cool. Chris is too, actually. He looks all big and scary and I think he was annoyed that I was talking to him while he was eating. Ohman can that guy pack it away! But he was totally nice and everything. What did you get for Kash?" She spotted Bishop entering the gym, but the girl had made a beeline for another group of kids. Kaimi was determined that she would snag her at some point. "I wonder if they'll play music or anything. I wonder if there will be dancing."

Joshua smiled at Elizabeth. "Nef is," He pointed at the icy boy, then whispered, "His presents' alive, so I have to be extra careful." Then Joshua looked to Bishop. "Is your secret santa here?" He asked, curious. He planned on delivering his present to Nef as soon as his friend was done talking to Maddy.
"Hi Luc!" He called, waving frantically at his friend. "Come here and sit with us!"

"Oh, yeah," said Casca, feeling even more hopelessly stupid than ever: that had been pretty obvious, when she asked about him. They spent a few quiet moments hunched over on the bleachers, Carlisle gone wherever Wisp had confined him, and eventually he said bluntly: "This party is terrible."

Bishop nodded in response to Josh's question but was a bit too curious to reveal the secret just yet. " You brought something alive? How do you do that without suffocating it?"
At this point the amber eyed girl set her own gift down as well to give her arms a break. Still, she was glad she hadn't been trying to carry anything alive, clearly Josh had better carrying skills even if his gift looked smaller.

"I got her a silver hairclip - it's really pretty, and Mom thought it'd match her hair." She shrugged, not particularly good at matching things together. "What'd you get Chris?"
With a start, she remembered that someone had said her name, hadn't they? She turned around and spotted Nefl, standing by with his present.
"Nefl!" Maddy smiled cheerfully and gave him a little wave in lieu of a hug, "What're you doing standing around for? Come on over and sit with Kaimi and me!"
She turned back to the girl with the tropical flower in her hair, and introduced the two: "Kaimi, this is Nefl, and Nefl, this is Kaimi."

"Yeah, it's broken," Austin said, heading for the small group as he played with his compass. He paid no attention to the fact that Maddy was in the middle of like, two conversations. Instead he stopped in front of her, grinning crookedly.
"'ello, lovely!" he said cheerfully. "We need to 'ave a bit of a chitchat." And reached down to offer her a hand.

Maddy blinked, still unused to being called endearments by people not her mother.
"Right, sorry guys. I'll be back in a bit, OK?" She smiled at Neflheim and Kaimi, feeling a bit bad for leaving them alone so soon after introducing them. But no matter, this was the whole point of the party, wasn't it?
"Sure, just lead the way." She turned to Austin, blushing a bit and taking his hand and getting up before following him off.

At the sound of his name being called, Lucien had - in one sweeping movement - gathered his presents in his arms and bounded excitedly over to Joshua and Elizabeth. After carefully dodging several conversing groups and crawing between legs he deemed obstacles, Lucien skidded to a breathless halt and wrapped his arms around Joshua, his presents now tucked awkwardly under his arms.
"OhgodIthoughtIwasgoingtobealoneforever," he said in one breath, leaning back from the hug and shrugging the presents back into his arms. He then looked to Elizabeth, smiling warmly. "Hello, my name is Lucien." he greeted, waving his head from side to side.

Kaimi grinned at Nef and then blinked as Maddy was dragged away by a boy who looked vaguely familiar. Shrugging it off, she turned back to Nef. "Hiya, I'm Kaimi." She grinned with her usual cheeriness.

"Sort of boring," nodded Ophelia in agreement. "I'm always awkward at parties, though," she added with a sigh. "I never know what to do."
She drummed her fingers on her knees and surveyed the gym below them.
"I think I recognize some people down there," she said. "But not well enough to go talk."

Joshua grinned at Bishop, "It's a secret." He said. He didn't want to reveal what he'd gotten Nef to anyone just yet. He was slightly surprised by Lucien's hug, but returned it just as eagerly.
"How are you?" He asked, smiling. "I thought I was going to be alone too! But I made a new friend," He looked at Elizabeth, then back at Luc. "Mommy says you should come over and meet Vinny soon! He's my little brother. But he's bigger than me." He put his hand over his head to show how tall Vinny was.
