Era let out another feeble cry, being struck by another critical hit. It wasn't as easy for her to level herself in flight, but she did, though she would go down if she was struck again.
Piney bit her lip at how close she was to losing. Hoping for a miraculous turnaround, she shouted out "Dragonbreath!"
Panting as she tugged the sled along, she dove down and sprayed the Girafarig with what was hopefully not but her probably last attempt at stopping the onslaught.

The dragonbreath missed as the girafarig pulled the sled to the side. Excitement caught Ren's tongue for a moment, but she managed to shake it off.
"Ok. Let's finish this! Use crunch girafarig!"
Then, Ren prayed it would hit and this exhausting race would be over.

And it was. Era couldn't withstand the last crunch and fell to the ground in a heap of feathers. Piney got out of the sled and hurried over, worried that she might have suffered from some lasting injury and exhaustion. Seeing that she was ok, she whispered some comforting words into her ear before returning the fainted Altaria to her Pokeball.
"That was a good race. Maybe we should try again sometime." Piney said to her opponent while extending a hand out.

As Ren's opponent's Alteria hit the ground, happiness filled her. She won! She leaped of the sled and gave her girafarig a congratulatory nuzzle before running up to the other sled.
"It was nice racing with you. Perhaps we could even be partners sometime?"
She took her hand and shook it.
"Now let's get out of here. I'm freezing!"
