((Ballroom | Namini))

Namini was a bit taken aback at the man's sudden nervousness, feeling herself become a little shaky in the conversation but she quickly regained her composure and continued smiling politely. She didn't recognize his face, not in the least, so perhaps this was his first Lab event? Well, whether he was new or not, Namini understood that it was still necessary to be courteous and so, at his outburst, she simply nodded in agreement and explained,

"The ensemble consists of very nice people. I'm not sure if it was my brother or one of the other hosts who looked into them, but when we listened to them practice the other night, they were very polite and graced with a good humor. Are you interested in music or perhaps," she tried to turn the discussion back to its original topic. "Food? Are you into cooking, maybe?"

((Ballroom –> Table))

“I’m fine.” As subtly as she could, Ebony pressed her hand against the jackhammer that was her heart. ‘Shut up, shut up…’ she kept thinking, hoping David couldn’t hear. Oh why was it acting like this? Sure, David was incredibly handsome and made even more so in that princely ensemble, and sure he could be charming when he wanted, but that shouldn’t make her chest do flip-flops. She knew his dark secret and she would not be one of his victims. Given he sort of knew her secret, but sort of knew was not the same as absolute.

Namini had rushed off before she had a chance to even speak to her. How unfortunate. Ebony didn’t want to be left alone with her brother and she was sort of hoping to make amends to the girl for her butting in at the last Lab event. A sigh escaped her lips, but soon found herself sucking it back in. David had intruded on her space once more.

At his comment she quickly grew more red and hissed at him. “Shut up! I really thought you might be hurt!” Ebony quickly clamped up and looked away, as red as she could possibly get now. She’d just made another slip, yet hopefully the departing asian had not heard. In a huff, the lavender haired woman made her way over to a table to sulk some. Oh he would pay for making her feel this way that she promised.

(( Ballroom - I keep forgetting this x.x )

Hearing that she wasn't at all phased by is uncountable outburst, he attempted his best to shake it off by looking up at her sheepishly. "Uh.."
'Its just normal conversation slap yourself out of it!'
"Well.. Food isn't my main interest I guess you could say. It's more so my family's interest." He bit back some frustration in his tone. He wanted to go back to the music topic already. If it was one thing he was most embarrassed about and the reason in which his past relationships; whether for friendship or for love, failed, it was his eating habits and tendency to talk more about food than relationships. Oh he couldn't help it if that's what was mainly on his mind when he was taken out to dinner or took a nice lady out for a date. His mom was a cook, and his father owned the resteraunt and catering service in which she worked for.
"I'm really more interested in a quartet of strings rather than a string of peas," He grinned cheerily rubbing his elbow as a sign of nervousness for his stupid comparison of a string quartet and a string of peas.

((Entrance-->Ballroom))

So many people... so many, so many conversations... Eep. No way she'd be able to keep track of them all. Ooooh, gallantry did still exist hm? Graf made a mental note to add him into her notebook with a plus-mark.

Getting a little cold inside from her own tension, the stalker decided it was about time to head inside, so she did exactly that, hastily skittering past the others inside, where she stood around for a moment lingering just inside the doors.
It already felt warmer here, and she took her time to mentally prepare. Oyyyy, unshelling.. Why was this so hard dangnabbit.

After five minutes of staring around like a cornered rabbit, she gradually relaxed, and finally slipped her coat off to ditch it somewhere.
Under the mass of black, she was wearing a loosely layered dark purple dress, no frillies or other distractions. Simple in form, sleeves that reached her elbows, revealing a rather pale skin. It comes with huddling up in your own darkness and preferring the shadow, and she surely didn't worry about the way she looked... much.
About wearing elegant shoes she hadn't been able to convince herself, instead she was wearing high boots, but not quite as heavy as her standard gear, with a subtle heel.

After another short while of acclimatisation, she let out a quiet sigh, and dared to follow the others into the ballroom, again staying near the walls and sides, moving casually to hide her nervosity.

Several conversations were already to going on, so she lingered around to observe them, glancing around towards the staircase to let her gaze linger on any new arrivals for a short while. Everybody seemed a little tense here, embarrassed or uncertain, trying to 'get into' the style of the night and getting stuck a little in the narrow bends of the reconfiguration, it seemed.

For now she remained that way. The people in this case were the most threatening variable... They actually had something to fear of her in return should they corner her. Or not. She very rarely resorted to violence, opting for a slinky getaway or just plain going braindead until the danger was over.

Namini watched as the newcomer slow began to crawl out of his shaky shell and smiled at the pace, continuing as politely and sincerely as she could to draw him further out into the open, "Oh, do you play anything? By the enthusiasm in your voice, I suspect you play...something elegant like a cello, or flute, or um..what's another...a violin perhaps?" Another cavity-producing grin and a small bob of her curls.

David had just removed himself from Ebony's presence and was quite happy to see the results of his wooing. With a reddening vixen behind him, the alluring Asian sought out new acquaintances, his hopes more set on the female kind but willing to make small talk with just about anyone interesting; There weren't as many attendees as David had suspected but then again, the night was still young, still...very young. And fairly appealing. Stormy eyes locked onto a mousy looking girl, a lovely little wallflower, and David couldn't help but laugh at himself, thinking of how he just jumped from one extreme to the other, as he sashayed over to his newfound prey. Dressed in an intriguing shade of violet, though the overall attire was fairly plain and straightforward, the girl seemed lost and quite vulnerable. Immediately, the smooth talker wasted no time.

"Excuse me. Miss?" he cooed, extending a hand and a gracious smile. "Good evening and thank you for coming. I'm one of the hosts for tonight's event and well, I hope I don't sound too forward but I thought that if I started a dance with a beautiful lady, such as yourself, it could help the other attendees break the ice a little easier. So, what do you say? Do you mind gracing me with the opportunity for a dance?"

With a widening of his smile, David looked into the other's eyes and hoped the act had worked.

((Ballroom – Table -> Mistletoe))

Ebony had been sitting at her table for a while now, idly playing with her fan. Her face had finally returned to its normal tanned color, but where the burning blush had been was now replaced with an expression of slight gloom. It wasn’t fair. She shouldn’t have been the one to get all flustered tonight; it was suppose to be the other way around. And how did she manage nearly falling in a dress that wasn’t that difficult to walk in? Sure it looked a tad snug, but the bottom flared out enough that she had plenty of striding room if not the ability to lift her leg extremely high.

The woman gently shifted her legs to glare at those demonic black heels and sighed. “Stupid shoes…” Though she blamed the shoes, she knew it wasn’t them she was truly mad at. More like she was mad at herself. Not wanting to admit it, Ebony had wanted to impress David on some level. But why should she find the need to do that? It was just…dumb. He wasn’t much to impress and she’d never needed the approval of anyone before. Who was he? Just some insignificant boy, not even worthy of her glance, let alone her time.

Her silver eyes wandered the huge room slowly, not really seeing what or who was there. Soon she’d have to snap out of her little depression and mingle again. Yet, she needed some plan to wipe the smug smile off that perfect face. Something that would really get under the man’s skin like he always seemed to do to her. She needed to prove he held no power over her whatsoever and put the game’s advantage back on her side.

This time when her eyes skimmed over the room and it’s crowd, Ebony took great care into seeing what was there. Namini was speaking to that male stranger from earlier who’d opened the door, he seemed a bit nervous talking to the girl. A few others she didn’t know, some mousy looking girl doing whatever at another table, a somewhat disgruntled looking girl had just come down the stairs followed by some guy she’d never seen before who looked about ready to punch the Santa decoration. It was then that she realized there might be more women here than men. Great, just what she needed.

Speaking of which, David had just strolled over to some shady looking female in a purple dress. Right on cue, her nose scrunched up and twitched in that unusual rabbit manner of which she was still unaware that she even did. Okay, now how the heck was she going to play this? Suddenly she spotted a familiar male figure. Her lips curled into a satisfied smirk. David hated this guy from what she remembered.

She stood to her full height, which was a little over 5’3” at the moment since she was in heels, and strolled over towards the youth. The other seemed a bit preoccupied as he hovered around in wide circles around a particular table. At the table a pretty dark skinned half torso floated, her long bunny ears twitching every so often. Since she’d never seen this Raevan before and given the boy's odd behavior, this girl must have been his Raevan. Curious, Ebony changed course slightly and wandered over to the rabbit instead.

Coming up along side the girl, she saw that she was holding some mistletoe. In fact, the whole table was full of the leafy stuff. Again came that smirk. It was all just too perfect. Trying to play it off, Ebony looked curiously at the mistletoe the dark skinned Raevan was holding. “Oooo, that’s pretty.”

(( Ballroom ))

... eeeep.

Not much else that could summarise Graficcha's state of mind at the moment.
As soon as she'd felt the man's attention shift over to her, and remain there, she'd felt the need to draw on her shadows and hide under a table somewhere. However, she did not, simply because she'd get herself into more trouble overreacting rather than by going along with the flow.

Her dark brown eyes trained on the male, not an entirely unpleasing male at that, she listened to his every word. It was hard to resist not drawing her hands up to her chest, squirelling up defensively, but Graf managed not to, and deviate the gesture into keeping her hands loosely on top of each over her stomach. By angling her head down a little and looking up at him, the piercing nature of her glare was softened to a submissive peeping up.

His compliments towards her, she gracefully ignored, before they made her blush. The purpose of his words weren't to compliment her an se, they were a part of the protocol to convince another person to go along with his proposal, after all. Just that, no more. And she was perfectly fine with things being that way.

His suggestion made sense, and she was glad to hear he hadn't sought her out because of personal reasons, no, this was merely a strategy to get the evening flowing more smoothly. Dancing? Ooohoho, the bane of her existance... Then again, over the years it was hard not to pick up some vague skills, and her body was fit and supple enough to give this a go.

After a brief moment of thought, Graf nodded. "... alright." She looked up now to make up for the difference in height, looking directly back into his eyes, after initially avoiding that blatant contact surreptitiously. "I will dance with you, and I hope others will follow. .. what is your name, sir?" she asked him, reaching out and taking his hand with a slightly trembling grip, but not the sort of limp kittie-paw you'd expect. Firm, but gentle.

She WOULD have to make a tab on him later, if only for his bold act towards her.
Well... at the very least this teensy distraction had all her focus, for now. Else she'd have gladly peeped over to where that other not-so-comfortable lady was going.

You keep her busy yo, before she starts fawning over that delightfully warm bunny-Raevan there.

[[ Entrance to Ballroom/Mistletoe Table : Seeded a link so that people know who/what Balamb is. ]]

Bridget had researched what this lab did, oh yes indeed. It intrigued her much the same way that icy creature had when she met that magister so long ago. Tasteless expression - and a horribly fleeting moment. She must ask for forgiveness for the exterior that she had. It was so un-becomming of her. Luckily, there was another event - perhaps she could see Lucretia and her companion, Asahi again, if not, it wouldn't have been a waste. The sounds greeted her ears, faded like the merry tinkling of a faraway bell from outside the doors to the place.

"C'mon, Balamb, I'd like you to meet new people, you're so very afraid of the public." He only half understood her words before her hacking coughs spewed the dust and small rocks everywhere again.

"Wanna go 'way. Home." He said tentively, "Want car! Broom, broom."

"Yes -cough-, I understand Balamb. Let it be for a little while," Bridget turned away so that she wouldn't keep on raining down magical pebbles onto Balamb's nice Yule-tide outfit and coat.

"No."

"I will get Walrus if you come with me," Bridget replied after she released the magic she had been using for the day. "Lets spruce up." Balamb mumbled 'spoose oop' as she hoisted him to settle on her wideset hips. She took it for a yes, and she entered the building.

The stairs were enormous, and they were festooned to glittering golden decor, at least to Balamb's young eyes. The music was jovial and the air full of reserved cheer. Some people had started to dance, others lurked about. He shifted this way and that to take in all the sights, turning back and forth from the door to the layout before him. It was so nice and warm in here! Balamb sighed and laid his head on Bridget; the little dip where the collar bone and shoulder met. It was bare execpt for the little white fuzzies of her red-red dress tickled his nose they made for a good warming pillow and the bright blue and white coat she had slung into. However the coats were readily discarded to the nearest area where they belonged.

Bridget smiled at everyone she passed, usually looking upward at each face, Balamb kept his head close. "Please," she murmured by the mistletoe table, "Be happy Balamb. See look at this?" Bridget picked up one of the mistletoe corsages. She smiled genially to the raevan and woman near her talking to one another.

"Want one blue dude?" Bridget slipped one on and peered at the table for a moment. It looked like there were plenty there, available for the guests, before turning back. "Its called mistletoe."

((Ballroom - Mistletoe ))

LuLu was not concerned with the people pouring into the ballroom; rather, she was busily trying to clip the pretty embellishment she had just found into her hair. On her first attempt the corsage made a feeble effort to stay in play but ultimately slipped off her fuzzy, blond ear. On her second attempt the troublesome trinket slid out of her perfectly pinned hair. On her third attempt the crafty little raevan got creative. She pinned the corsage strategically to her bracelet and shook her arm. The little bundle clung safely on her wrist. Her rosy lips broke into a charming smile. She continued to flick and rattle her arm; her bracelet made a subtle clink to accompany the swirling green and gold hues of her accessories. She spun around and bumped into a splay of black and plum twirled attractively around a small woman. Her ears fell back and clung to the sides of her head. A pang of fear glinted in her soft, lilac eyes.

“Oooo, that’s pretty.”

The words buzzed in LuLu’s mind. She clung on one in particular. Pretty. That word. Something about it made LuLu feel more comfortable. The fidgety raevan found her voice in that moment. It rang out clearly and sweetly, “Very pretty?” Her face glowed with curiosity.

~~~~~
Meanwhile, Josh was making himself at home in the ballroom. He spared a pleasant smile at the guests who trickled in. It was a slow start he concluded. Josh had expected more of a turnout in the beginning of the event. He smoothed out his nerves… he didn’t spend all yesterday and this morning hanging decorations with David for nothing. The boy was about to move to another area to drum up a conversation when he noticed a familiar bed of waving, spiraling curls. Namini. Josh walked over and gave the man she was chatting with a cookie-dough-and-kittens-sweet smile. “Hello there, I’m Josh,” he turned his smile to the bubbly girl next, “It is wonderful to see you again Namini. You’ve been well?”
Now whatever nefarious plots Ebony had been thinking of in those few minutes she’d taken to move from her seat to the table covered in mistletoe had all but been nearly forgotten in that single moment. Those wide, violet orbs full of innocence and genuine curiosity accompanied by that simply adorable toned voice were nearly heart melting. The British woman, temporarily forgetting her prior frustration with a certain Asian male, couldn’t help but smile warmly and nod towards the Frei.
“Very pretty. Much better than mine.” She pointed towards the huge red poinsettia resting snuggly between her right ear and curls of lavender. Silk black fingers hovered over the other pieces of mistletoe on the table, hesitantly moving from one to the next. “Hmm…I’m not sure which one.” Turning back to the Rabbit. “How about you pick one for me?” Ebony didn’t know how much of a vocabulary the Raevan had, but she hoped she’d understand enough of what she’d said.
LuLu felt a tremor of pride swell in her small chest. She hovered a little higher, enamored with the new feeling. She clasped her hand around her glittering bracelet and giggled merrily, “The prettiest.” She nodded as if agreeing with herself; she was satisfied with this statement. Tonight, she was the prettiest.
LuLu followed the woman’s sleek, ebony hand upwards to the scarlet blob that was … eating her head. The raevan shuddered. That was a dreadful decoration. Not pretty at all. The raevan reached up and plucked the hideous ‘creature’ from Ebony’s cascading lavender curls. Even this woman deserved to be a little pretty tonight, nowhere as pretty as LuLu, but enough to save her from embarrassment the young raevan decided. LuLu turned back towards the table; the gradating fringe on her half dress swayed with her movements. Her tanned fingers worked deftly to pick up another cluster of mistletoe from the table. She had examined them all, and this was a good specimen…. Second best. The raevan hovered over and clipped it securely in a patch of purple just at the side of the woman’s head. Her voice chimed lightly in the air again, “You are pretty too.” She had done a good job at this 'makeover' thing.
((Ballroom | Both))
David's lips curled wider until his sparkling smile was revealed. The prince-like approach had proven successful and as the taller man graciously took his new companion's delicate hand in his and escorted her to the dance floor, he made sure to continue his courtship. In her hesitation towards his proposal, David picked up on her defensive mannerisms, noting especially the attractive way she continually redirected her dark eyes, and carefully planned a counter attack. Reaching the middle of the dance floor, David casually placed his free hand on her unsuspecting waist and finding her gaze raised, locked his eyes on hers. Then he began to shift his weight and lead the fragile doll. He would make it so she was cornered and all that was appropriate would be to blush and go along with it or flirt back. Either way, it was a win-win situation and at this realization, David smirked.
"You're a wonderful dancer, miss. And my name?" David paused, giving her a gentle twirl before catching her in their original position and laughed softly. "My name is David, David Nao. And yours, miss?" A side step, another side step, twirl. David was going to enchant another damsel if it killed him.
- - - - - - -
As Namini chatted with the kind stranger, she had not realized how vulnerable to surprise she had left herself open to. All she had on her mind was the meeting of new faces, friendly, new faces. But familiar faces had never crossed her mind, not even in Ebony's situation, and so, when her playful friend approached, Namini was momentarily stunned. "J-Josh?" Namini gaped, before remembering the significance of the other boy. Another host! Raising a palm to her forehead in self-mockery, Namini then broke out into a foolish grin as she continued the conversation,
"Yes, I have. The decorations you and David put up are really well-done, thank you for your hard work. Have you seen Lillian yet? I really should thank her for tolerating my clumsiness."
There was a pause before something caught the brunette's eye. In the faint distance was her brother, obviously charming another innocent girl, but despite her instinctive protest, another side of her kind of yearned to be that kind of girl. Someone charming and interesting... That's when the idea hit her. Returning her attention to the men in front of her, Namini unhesitatingly chirped, "Would any of you mind a dance with me?"
Perhaps she didn't have persuasive skills of her smooth talking brother, but at least she got her point across.
Ebony was a bit shocked when the Raevan literally ripped the flower from her head like it was some horrible abomination. Normally the woman would have been giving a sassy protest, yet she couldn’t quite get there as the girl started fiddling with her hair. She sighed and merely glanced down at the crushed flower with a slight pout. She’d really liked that flower, poinsettias being one of her favorites.
When the girl was finished and had pulled away with a look of great pride, Ebony hadn’t the heart to say anything. She could imagine how the Rabbit’s guardian might feel dealing with such a child-like creature. Well okay, the Raevan was a child technically, but yeah, whatever. Giving the tiny plant a gentle nudge, Ebony sighed, but smiled. “Yes, thank you. That’s much better.” Well, at least she was ready for a little mistletoe fun.
[[Ballroom / Mistletoe Table]]
Briget chuckled softly with a slight smile playing about her lips. Balamb had watched the whole encounter with wide eyes and ignored the dangling mistletoe.
"Now, Balamb," Bridget continued to try to get the newt-boy's attention, but it was so fleeting that it almost seemed to be borderline ADD.
"Pretty!" He exclaimed and took Bridget's corsage she was trying to give to him only to try to stick it to Ebony's shoulder, which was really the only place he could get it since he could not reach down to try to stick the funny looking plant on her wrist like the Reavan did. But it did not stick as he intended and the plant landed with a soft rustle onto the floor, his orange-yellow eyes trailing its descent.
"Oh I'm so sorry, ma'am!" Bridget exclaimed before turning back to poke Balamb lightly, gently reminding him of his good manners, "You're supposed to say 'Hello, My name is Balamb.' And greet people first." But he only frowned, his eyes still on the stickiless mistletoe corsage.
Why didn't it stick?
(( Ballroom -dancey dancey))
Hmm... Now don't get too personal ey chap?
Graficcha was well aware of almost every movement he made, anticipated that hand-on-waist trick a moment before it happened. She didn't jolt nor blush, did not recoil, instead smiled at him. Not a very warm smile, more of a 'I see what you did there' little smirk as she puffed up a little, drawing in a breath. Oooh, bold move, mister. In any other situation she'd have gnawed his hand off, but this particular moment allowed this crude intruding into her personal bubble.
Said bubble had a ten-foot radius anyway, she no matter what he did, he had been absorbed anyway.
The stalker kept half an eye on his expressions, and had to admire him for his expertise in controlling exactly what sort of emotion he was evoking in the minds of easily-swayed people. What a charmer you... she almost rolled her eyes at him amusedly.
At his compliment on her skills, she softly uttered the necessary 'thank you, you are very skilled yourself', not delving too deep in how much truth and how much flattery the message had contained. She let him lead, but her every nerve was on edge, so she'd be able to deadpan halfway a step and turn this thing around if the need should arrive. After a while, she let her body take over and relaxed somewhat, flowing about almost playfully while her attention was drawn to the surroundings.
"My name is Graficcha.. Graficcha Ti'Suki. Pleased to meet you mister Nao." she murmured when a move required her to come closer to his face -his ears more exactly. The way the say her last name, it sounded more like a skittish-snippy 'tiski'.
In the meantime, she had let her gaze slip over where LuLu, that delightful young bunny Raevan, was playing with the people-decoration, and apparently relishing in her task. Ohoho, yes m'lady, you let them all bask in your warm glow there. A fond smile ghosted over her face for a moment, then she had to return her attention to David.
Most of the other attendees didn't radiate quite that aura of attraction, at least not for her, and she easily maintained her naturel, glancing across the room every few seconds, until yet another ensnard her attention.
Graf wondered how she'd missed them, blamed in on her current activity. Fascinating, utterly...
From what she could see, she deducted this little thing she was holding must be rather young, in a more direct sense then the Raevans. It was endearing how the female who was holding him mothered over him gently -she did suspect the little blue nestling was male, if only from his voice, that exclamation he'd uttered. Awwww.
This time her gaze lingered slightly too long, and she let out a rather unladylike meep when another twirl broke her visual on them. She'd sounded like a startled ... something? That soft, surprised yip she usually held inside and only used freely at home, when nobody was around to look up and wonder where that sound came from.
Eeheehee, how embarrassing. She did blush now, but not for the world because of the man's tactics.
