a really good exercise for your side muscles:
- stand with feet shoulder width apart. - clasp your hands behind your head - bend to your right side as far as you can. - straighten - bend to your left side as far as you can. -straighten.
that's one rep. Try to do 30-50 of these or more. You'll really feel your muscles working.

The best way for me was putting my tv to teh exersize channel. So when i turned on the TV first thing on was someone yelling through the screen to get off the couch. But the most effective is just joining a local swim club. The group ethic is the most motivating for me. Especially when the group competes, it makes me want to work twice as hard when the group gets together.

Sors I live in a place with a small exercise room. I love going up there and watching my TV shows on the nice TV and just doing the stationary bike! It's easy and good for my heart. Sometimes I'll download audiobooks on my ipod and listen to those when I exercise. Either way it works, I just have to keep from getting bored. xD

For work out videos, I really like Zuzana's YouTube channel. Even though she is very impressive looking, she gives very good information in a manner I find very easy. Here's her YouTube Channel. I've done most of her work outs and all I've needed is some weights and my yoga ball.

thanks for the link! I need to start incorporating something other than the treadmill (even though my vascular health has greatly improved from it)

A couple days ago... I did a push-up! More than one even! Without the knee modification! Just normal pushups, five in a row! Maybe I can build up to more... and go lower and stuff...
The last time I was able to do that I weight about half of what I do now and was in elementary school sweatdrop

Yay for push ups! Congrats! Whenever I feel like I've eaten too many fatty foods I fast for a few days to a week to flush my system. I find that when I come out of the fast, I feel less inclined to eat the fatty foods that I was gorging myself on before. http://www.yogitea.com/Pages/OurTeas/BodyTeas/Fasting.html is the tea I use. But don't use fasting too much or for too long to lose weight. It's supposed to be for detox purposes only!

I am the one who perfers 'healthy' over 'skinny' any day. As long as my cholesterol is doing good, the ticker works fine, and my asthma does not act up, I am ok. That is my view on things. Certain amounts of fat are ok, but not too much. My problem is I do not exercise that much, and I need to get back to doing that.

hurrah under 240!
I don't really want to be skinny. I want to be healthy. And unfortunately my weight is too high. I can feel it some days more than others.
This week i'm starting to incorporate strength exercises in with my treadmill at the gym. Time to start building muscle.

One thing that's been helping me:
I used to have my last meal of the day be real heavy and for breakfast i'd eat almost nothing, so that by the time i got home from work at night, i'd be starving and would eat A LOT.
I've since reversed this. I'll eat my heaviest meal for breakfast and lighter meals for lunch and dinner. This way I have energy to sustain me during the day and i'm not zomghungry when i come home.

Awesome. :3
Remember that muscle weighs more than fat, so take that into consideration when you weigh yourself.
What sort of breakfasts are you making yourself?

I've been trying to loose a few pounds, as well. It's a bit tough, mostly because my boyfriend is trying to gain weight. It's pretty hard to continue on with salads and such when he's munching on a burger. sweatdrop
