He felt himself be pinned, pressed to the sand so he couldn't escape. A shrill cry of terror rattled through him. She was calling mama! No! Mother couldn't know about this! They'd be told off good and proper! Maybe they'd be stopped from going out when everyone else did!
With a shrill cry he attempted to wriggle free. "Bro! Bro, quick, make a runfor it!" He paused when he saw the second lioness and then felt tempted to call for mother himself. "You! You stay away from my brother!" He wriggled ferociously, finally breakng free. But like Ngoma, he struggled to find his footing and fell flat on his face, spitting sand.

Finding his footing, Ngoma made a mad dash for the den entrance. The dark cool space never looked so welcoming before now, and he wiggled his whole way in. Pausing to look back, he lifted his ears just a bit. "Come on, Rap, you can make it!"
Smirking just a bit, Jua sat down. They were fun to scare... She looked to the white lioness, one eyebrow going up. The slave had done nothing, but had done plenty to scare them back into the den. This was easier than she'd thought.

With another squeak Rap made a mad dash towards the den, staggering as the sand moved beneath his little paws. Then, without glancing back, he tumbled head-first into the den and fell into the welcome darkness of the den.
Where it was safe.
Where it was quiet.
He found his brother and moved close, leaning in to whisper. "That was a close one, bro. But we sure showed them, right?"

Nodding, Ngoma tried to catch his breath. As he turned around, he noticed the furry masses of their brothers and sisters, as well as their mother. Slowly and carefully climbing over them all, he went and huddled next to 'Runt', peeking at their mother's sleeping form. "She didn't wake up while we was gone, did she...?"

With a yawn he moved after his brother, nestling down beside him and another furry lump that seemed to be Zap. With a quick shake he cuddled down and let the warm darkness take him away to the land of sleep.
But not before answering.
He opened a single fiery eye to look through the darkness at his brother. "I don't think so. She's sleepier than we are." And with another yawn he tucked his head down and let himself drift off towards some much needed rest.
