Duskai's tone turned uncharacteristically bitter as she spoke. "They deserted me... My mother... and father... deserted me. He was just about... mad... I think. My brother was... about the same too. Though he... he tried to protect... me... I think. I don't remember... my about my mother... I think she was kind... though. Even though... she deserted me... to the foals." The mare glared at nothing in particular. Her eyes softened a bit as she pictured her parents, though they were blurry and unclear.
"I get my... markings from my... father... I think... I remember... him being covered in them... like my brother..."

Misaki nodded her head while she listened to her new friend. She seemed hurt...but still unsure of herself or her past. "Perhaps they left you for a good reason?...To protect you from something?"
Misaki didn't want to pry too much with Duskai being in such a delicate state of mind. Her memory would come back in time.
"Do you remember anything good about them? That's what you should try to remember...not the bad."
She looked over as the pair walked along, casting a friendly smile towards Duskai. "You're more than welcome to stay with me for a while...If you'd like." She wasn't sure that she liked the idea of Duskai wandering alone in the lands. Especially with no memory to serve her.

The mare shook her head. She couldn't remember anything from her past that was good about her parents and brother. There was too many vile things stacked in front of them.
She nodded her head. "That would be... very nice, Misaki. It would be nice... to be with... someone like you," she said with a smile. She enjoyed the older mare's presence. Moreover, she did not feel threatened by her. It was hard to feel threatened by someone who was so caring.

(I'll try to wrap this up in my post. We can discuss what role, if any, you want Misaki to play in further plots for Duskai. *smile*)
A pleasant smile crossed Misaki's face as she looked over to the young mare. "You're more than welcome to travel with me, Duskai. In fact, I'd quite love the company." she said with all sincerity. It had been quite some time since Misaki had a traveling partner, and this mare seemed as though she could use a friend.
She continued along at her slow and steady pace. "I'm heading to the mountains, to look for my sister...Perhaps we will find what you're seeking along the way." she turned her head looking back down the path. Her heart felt lighter, she knew she had chosen the right path...she knew that her fate had lead her to Duskai for a reason yet to be seen.

Duskai smiled at Misaki and she nodded. "Yes... perhaps we will... find what I seek," she said, even though she had no idea what that was. She would find out eventually, she reminded herself. Now was not the time for this.
What it was time for, well... that was left to be seen as they traveled to wherever they were going.
