He he could, Nikolas would have smacked his own forehead, though he didn't really want to seem like a crazy. He gave a laugh then she mentioned that he wasn't a 'shadow'. Though there were many forms to the word, he was sure she knew that, hopefully... Black eyes squinted up at the sun as it crept even higher within the sky making him back a bit further into the shadows. The light was already tapping against his white coat, making it's shine vanish to a dull paleness.
"There are many meanings to that word." He chuckled as she came closer to him, closer then she had been all night. "When the sun rises, I become like a shadow and flee to the darkness. Not mortally really, just..." Boy, now how to explain it in 'simple' terms to be understood?
Puzzling a bit he soon shook his head as the warmth from the sun grew against his coat. Taking a pace backwards he looked toward Yazmina as her coat still seemed to hold its shine even in the changing of light. Oh how could he compete with that? He was paler then hell and in the sunlight he would almost seem like a ghost of a horse framed by mantels of black with just a mere rose marking on his rump. Where she would look more like an angel or something, a light bringer that would always clear his shroud of shadows.
"Just don't stay up too late, you never know where you might wake up." He half warned, half teased playfully, but it wasn't as if he were implying on anything. "Anyway, I'm heading that way," Gestures over his shoulder. "You are welcomed to come if you like. I'm not one to turn away company."

The lighter it got, the more she could see what he meant. She didn't know how to say that without insulting him, though. He did seem to go pale somehow, despite the fact that his coat should have been just as bright as hers. It wasn't that she could see through him, but he seemed just a little ...insubstantial.
Like a shadow. And just like that, she understood. And felt rather silly for not having figured it out before. "I understand now," she said simply. "I suppose I confused myself." That was the best explanation she could give.
Again, she knew she ought to go home. She should have politely left him to go where he was going, and gone back to the others to sleep what little she could and ponder all that had happened tonight. Instead, she found herself ready to follow him. "Maybe just until you find a place. I don't want to disturb your rest."

Again he laughed at her saying she didn't want to disturb his rest, he was highly doubtful of that fact. his brother had been at his loudest when he woke in the daylight hours and still Nikolas had slept through it and only found out about it after waking in the evening hours. He doubted that she could disturb him, he slept more or less like a rock and sometimes thought that he might turn into a rock in the sunlight. Turning away from Yazmina he started walking further into the trees before turning again and walking along where he thought was parallel to the treeline.
"I doubt you could disturb my rest, unless you literally jumped upon me." He chuckled as an ear turned to listen for her to follow as she looked eager to follow a moment earlier. "Besides, sometimes having company isn't too bad of a thing. So tell me, where do you go when you go to rest?" he asked tilting his head to the side a little. "I suppose you have a family and all to go back to?"
He was just grasping at thoughts that might have made sense to his tired mind. The sun would soon be over head and he would be flat out on the ground sawing logs until the sun sank in the other side of the mountains. Then he would be up again and hunting... Hopefully something other then things that reminded him of Yazmina... Which was everything now that he thought about it, perhaps he could try his brother's berries again. Grass... He would pass on that, it didn't look very tasty... Besides, who at something that you step on and do other businesses on? the thought disgusted him..

Her ears tipped back, startled. "I wouldn't do that either. Jump on you." She knew he didn't really think she would, but still, the idea surprised her. If she'd been a filly, still, maybe, but she definitely wasn't. And she did follow after him, a step or two behind.
"There's a teepee," she told him. "At the edge of the trees. That's where we go if we need to be inside or under something, if the weather's too bad. Otherwise, we stay outside. The trees usually make a good enough shelter for us, and when we're together, there's always someone with their eyes open, so the rest of us can sleep." The way his brother watched over Nikolas, she assumed.
Speaking of which, "Won't your brother worry and wonder where you are?"

he just kept walking letting her speak of where she went to sleep, it was different then him and his brother. They lived out in the weather at times. Most the time retreating into the caves around their home when it became too much to remain out in the open and trees. Namely when it was thundering and lightening out and it was dangerous under the trees of course. But to live where there might be humans? That would have been dangerous to him, well more dangerous to them actually.
"Sounds like a splended place to stay when the weather isn't the best." He nodded stopping and looking back, not really wanting to be 'leading' the way, come on, they were equals after all... Right. "Nah, 'm known to be away from him for who knows how long. He's used to being alone. He's actually older then I am by two minutes." Nikolas nodded before walking on.
The trees had started to thin again as the sounds of water came to the ears that listening. Frowning a little he stopped at the edge of the stream and dipped his head to drink and to wash what blood there was still dried to his muzzle away. Straightening he shook out his mane a little before turning his gaze toward the almost eggshell blue sky that was seeping across what could be seen.
"This place seems as good as any." He muttered to himself before glancing around some. "So are you planning on staying up again tonight? When the shadows creep across the plains and shroud all in darkness?" he wondered looking toward Yazmina, "Or should we have a daylight meeting sometime?"

"It's warm," she said as she caught up with him and now only walked more or less at his shoulder. "And dry, or mostly dry, unless it rains enough for little streams to trickle through. That can't be helped. Oh," she added when he explained about being separated from his brother. "And he has his ...fledglings, right? To keep him company."
She let him choose the place. After all, he was the one in need of shelter. She liked the fact that there was fresh water close by, but again, it wasn't her choice or her comment to make. Instead she looked at him again, a little amused. "I'll probably be up again. I'll have to sleep some time," she allowed, "and since I'm awake now, I'll sleep late. So. If you're out and wandering, I. Might see you again." Now why did that seem like a forward thing to say?
She smiled at his next suggestion, ears perking up a bit. "We could. Meet in daylight, some time. If you were willing.

Nikolas has busied himself with pulling a couple branches aside from where he would more then likely rest. The needles from the over hanging pine branches made a good bedding he found and he was well content on laying in them until the night grasped the lands again. Things went on about his brother having the little ones to look after and teach, that way he wasn't really all that much alone.
"Yea, he has the little nippers to be around and take care of while I'm away. We will be moving them again, to teach them our ways and everything like that." He looked Yazmina over, she still seemed to have that scratch from when the wolves attack, his wounds were still there. Faded at best, but still there and still healing. "I..." He stopped not really knowing if this question would get him a kick to the head or something more subtle, but always one way to find out.
"I was wondering if you wanted to join us. True our little band ain't much, my brother, myself and one or two little ones. But they seem to need a more mother's touch then we can really give them." He shrugged looking away a little. "Take your time in choosing, I know right well that there's more better groups out there. so I'm leaving it up to you."
He ended the question there and looked away. Letting her have her time, not that he really expected an answer from her. He was sure that she could find better for herself then a small band of misfits trying to fit into the world, by taking in little ones, mostly from other families, to teach as their own before letting them go again. But he would leave that up to her, if she wished to come with them, then fine, if not, that was also fine. He wasn't about to force anything onto anyone.
"You don't have to answer now, take your time in thinking about it. The offer is always there, as not many take so kindly to me or my brother." He half chuckled before settling down on the pine needle bed close to the trees.

She did still have the scratch, proof that she really had been in the attack she'd told the others about. They never would have believed that she hadn't simply fled at the first sign of trouble, without that mark. She didn't particular wear it with pride, but she took no pains to hide it, either.
Yazmina wasn't the sort to kick anyone in the head, really. She still startled, still surprised by the question and the offer. Ears forward and eyes wide, she said, "Oh. Oh. Well. I should." Nikolas had completely caught her off guard. "I'll have to. It's very nice of you to ask. To invite me to join, but I should. Think. And." And finish a sentence. She took a deep breath.
And let it out again, composing herself. "Thank you," she said clearly. "I will think about it. And you should talk to your brother." She nodded, confirming the thought with herself. "I'll look for you again, or you can look for me, and we'll talk about it again? But for now." She backed out of his resting place. "For now, you rest and I'll go home. I'll see you again, Nikolas."
She gave him a last smile, then turned and moved a few paces away, sprang into a trot and leapt into the sky to fly home. She had much to think about.
