Ethiradan couldn't help but let out a small sigh as he shook his head back and forth. Perhaps he was wrong about her. With his eyes shifting in her direction he stated, "Wait." He was being careful with how he approached this now. She wasn't as strong as he thought and his actual letting her in scared her more than it helped, how was that? "...You have pledged yourself to my cause... do you mean it? I could use another to help.. but in the same respect... if you are offering yourself to help me, I suppose I should do the same." Taking a step closer he made sure to stop a yard from her, not wanting to impose himself. "What is it you want from this world Islandia? ....What is it you want from me?"

Isi paused in mid-step, careful to keep from looking at him, instead staring at the ground in front of her feet. For a long time she said nothing as she thought over his question...what was it she wanted? "To work together as a team requires trust, and I've realized that's something I don't think I can do. Trust you, I mean. I'm younger, definatly more inexperienced, amoung other things, and therefore can be manipulated. Perhaps not as easily as some, but the it still can be done."

Sitting on her haunches, she stared him in the face, her expression serious and no sense of playing anymore about her. "My offer was rash, and frankly unwise for me to make without knowing you better. That can be blamed on youth and the thought of an adventure, but I don't withdraw it. My mother taught me to keep my word, and so I shall. However, I want you to promise you won't play mind games with me anymore. Once I give a promise, I pledge my honor and loyalty to keep it, but I need to know you do the same. No manipulating, no backstabbing no games. Either you can keep your promise to me or you can't. If you can't, there is no point for us to continue farther. Simple as that."

Ethiradan watched her carefully as he considered what she spoke of. His eyes narrowed for a good long minute. Could he stop the games? A part of him wasn't so sure he could, the games were how he survived, it was how he got by and made his way in the world. Though on the other end, he didn't want to stop speaking to her and he knew if he didn't at least try that it would be exactly that.

Twisting his head in one direction, he completely averted his eyes from looking at her. "I'll tell you this right now.. I'm a monster, completely so. I don't ever expect you to trust me, nor to want to trust me. I am what my creators made me to be. But I'll also tell you this," His eyes now peered in her direction, "the fact that you even know this much, that I'm telling you what I'm telling you is a sign that I have trusted you with more than I have ever trusted anyone. You know more about me, about my situation and my life than anyone ever has. I haven't played you once Islandia.. and I don't plan to, but the decision is and always will be up to you. For once in my life... I am being honest and I am being who I am on the inside. Though what this monster is... I would never blame anyone for hating and never giving a chance to trust." Sighing, he turned his head again. She was right about him afterall, and some part of him believed that he could never hope to be more.

Isi was surprised and a bit humbled by his words. She sensed the honesty of them, and probably how hard it'd been for him to tell her all he had. Perhaps he was a monster, but she sensed better in him...good. Deep inside. Maybe just a little flicker, but enough for her to doubt he was a complete monster. He still hadn't promised to not play her, though he had said he didn't plan to, but if she did agree to venture with him, then the risk was hers and she couldn't say he hadn't warned her.

She turned her gaze away for a moment in indecision, searching the lightening horizon for some answer, but she knew what she'd pick. She'd given her word, had made the offer. Rash or not, she couldn't back out without regretting it later. Her face softening, she looked back at him and nodded slowly. "I've made my decision. I will come."

A part of him relaxed when she agreed though another part of him became a little more on edge, though the edge was due to himself, not her. "Thank you..." He stated quietly though that had almost taken more effort than anything else had that night. Er... morning now? Musing, Ethiradan's eyes ventured off toward the horizon, noting a break in the darkness that had previously engulfed the whole sky. "..In that case... the rules of our engagement are up to you. I'll try my best not to tread on them. But for now... I should let you be. Perhaps I'll come again when I need your assistance." He tried to give a light smile, trying to make it somewhat genuine though he wasn't quite sure how strained it came across. Part of him owed her for giving him any false hope at all, hope even if misplaced on her part. No one had ever wanted to help him before, not that he could blame them. "Until then Islandia." He then began to walk away to let her have her peace.
