The Tempest

Mischa had discussed while at the casino gambling the night previously about what Mischa would do with the money. And how to make more money from it. Sam suggested she talk to a lawyer from her family's firm since they would both be going into this together. He could take her money and move it around, increasing her credit so that she'd have the necessary funding to begin the casino right away. He'd be capable of getting the proper permits, licenses, and keep everything on track.

Cela answered the doorbell when it rang. Theros had gone out, looking for a new apartment for Mischa as well as other things on his list after eating breakfast with both girls. She blinked staring at the fellow for a long moment. "May I help you?"

Stephen Baxter was in his late twenties, attractive in a forgettable kind of way. With sandy blonde hair and hazel eyes, he tended to be overly serious and always seen in a suit. If one saw him in anything else, it was actually kind of shocking. He wears silver wire framed glasses and speaks with a slight scottish accent. There was more than meets the eye to him, but few would ever understand that unless they were around him and got to know him well.

"I'm looking for Mischa Renaue`. My name is Stephen Baxter. Sam Marlin asked me to see her." he replied watching the girl closely. She fit the description of the friend that was usually around.

"Come in. I'll get Mischa." She knew Mischa was finishing off a cup of tea in the kitchen.

After Cela told her that he was there, Mischa was a bit surprised that he had responded so promptly. She studied him a moment. "I'm Mischa. Sam mentioned you to me. I didn't expect you so soon."

"Is it a problem that I'm here then?" He replied.

"No. Of course not. Would you like a cup of tea or something?"

"Not at the moment, thank you." she watched him closely, offering him a seat. "I don't know what Sam told you, but we have decided to open a casino together. I don't have the first idea what permits or licenses are necessary."

"I can take care of that. She said you won at Gambino's last night." He glanced around. "You need a more secure location to live."

"Theros is taking care of that. He's going to be my head of security on the recommendation of a friend. He's very good at what he does." Asmodeus would have fits if she refused Theros. She was tempted because he irritated her with the way he watched her and the things he did. Like wearing green last night.

"Theros." he repeated the name as if to memorize it. It had a vague familiarity to it. "I'd like to meet him. Sam explained what you needed. I've already begun getting things set up. All I need is your signature on a few papers and the number of the account that your money was put into. I can get things shoved around quickly so that you have the line of credit you need to get the casino up and running in just a few weeks. Do you have a property for it yet?"

"Theros is doing that also today." she smiled faintly. "But I'm not sure what time he will return. As for the number," she moved towards a ledger on the table. Picking up the bankbook that had been supplied to her that very morning, she handed it over to him. "This was brought to me this morning. The man who took care of it was a contact of Theros."

He glanced up at her, taking the book to write down the numbers and the name of the accountant who had convenienced her. He recognized the name. It was one of the high level executives at one of the bigger instititutions. Placing the papers on the table in front of her, he said after explaining what the papers were, "Sign here, here, here and here. Initial there. Date there. And initial there and sign your name beside it."

Mischa signed her name in all the places that he indicated. Then she watched him put the papers away, explaining what would happen next. "Then that's it until we start building?"

"Yes. Once you have the line of credit, we will find you an architect to design what you want. I know a few that are familiar with the type of building you will want and need. From there we can take a couple bids on contractors. In the meantime let me know as soon as you find the property you want. We need it bought as soon as possible. Here's my card. Call me day or night for any reason." He leaned back taking the cup of tea that Cela had offered him spending some time talking to them. It paid to get to know clients.

That evening Baxter showed up again, this time at the new apartment. He had called Mischa directly after seeing the property. Barely two hours later, all the lots were hers and she was signing the papers for them. He handed her several papers, one was an agenda for the next day for several meetings. The first one included himself, Mischa, Cela, Theros, Thorne Jamison - the architect, Norman Feller- owner of Feller Construction, Edwards Carell- the head of the licensing and permit bureau, and several lawyers for all of them. When Mischa walked out of the meeting with Theros, Cela, and Baxter, she was already on her way to becoming a casino owner. Asmodeus had been there silently listening in on everything. The changes made over the centuries were interesting, and he found the knowledge useful.

By the next morning, Thorne had a set of plans ready for her, calling a meeting as soon as he had finished them. He had worked through the night. This was big money for him and he wanted to please these particular clients. It would mean more business for him later. The same attitude was in Norman and he had his crew boss there ready to take orders. When Mischa, Stephen and Theros approved the plans making a few minor changes, mainly the second level concerning security, offices, and the two suites for Sam and Mischa, they began immediately, pulling in some extra help to call to get the building supplies moving. There would be three crews working round the clock to get the casino built in as short a time as possible. There were no days off as the construction began.

Each day, Mischa and Theros checked to see what was done and what needed done. He already had the men he wanted for security, mostly those he trusted personally. All had ties to Asmodeus in some way and he knew they would be the proper ones in the appropriate place and time. Asmodeus would only be stronger for their presence.

And in just a short time, The Tempest stood gleaming at the edge of the lake. It had everything from a section of shops that Baxter had already lined up based on what Mischa had decided should be included. A two floor spa was on one side with the very top of the industry mud baths and attendants. A gallery of paintings and sculptures at one side would allow for a quiet escape from gambling.

The main floor was filled with slot machines, roulette tables, black jack tables, and even a few private tables for poker. The main reception desk to the side at the front entrance allowed for easy checkin to the rooms for those wishing to stay at the casino. The rooms were not cheap but they were worth every penny paid for them in elegance and comfort. One room would have shows each night where notable entertainers would be hired to toss jokes or sing and dance. Chorus lines also had access to the stage for dancing and singing in elegant costumes and beads. One area had a movie projector for current films as well as older ones with easy access by the patrons who would come to gamble their vacation away.

And then there was the darker side that noone would see. The hounds in the vaults invisibly on guard. The demons who possessed mortals to hide amongst them. The bordello on the second floor where both male and female prostitutes plied their trade under the protection of a demon guard. Even those who would be given orders to infiltrate not only the current criminal elements but also the law enforecement and clergy as well as the mayor's offices and courts. Theros, Asmodeus, and Seere left no stone unturned- no openings that would hinder what they wanted.

In the end it was decided that the actual security of the casino would be left in the hands of one of Sam's people. This person was a wiz with gadgets and the things that would be necessary. And after explaining what was necessary, it was installed by only those Theros trusted most. Noone would understand that it was not simply technology that protected the vaults and casino, but also various spells placed to seal private areas so that any breach alerted them. Mischa's office, the security office, the underground section where the demons played far darker games than most could see or even understand were but a few where alerts were placed.

It was the perfect setup and few were the wiser that two demon princes were loose in their midst.

Moving In

As when she had moved into the new apartment, Mischa hired movers. They quickly packed up what she wanted and then loaded it onto the truck. She did leave a few minor things at the apartment. It would still be used sometimes, but for now, she wanted to move into the casino. It would save her from having to drive each and every day. And with the casino open 24/7 she was better off living there than where she was. The apartment was meant to give her some privacy and some needed space when she had to get away from the demands of the gambling and people there.

The car and driver that she had was hired by Theros. The man's name was Vincent Anderson and he was not just a chauffeur, he was far more than that. But only Theros knew that the man was in truth a mercenary. His job was to protect Mischa and keep her safe no matter where she went. Unless she was at the casino, he was never more than two steps behind her.

Vincent kept his eyes on the road also, answering her questions as necessary. He was only attached to her so far as the job went, but it would be a job for a long time and that had been what he wanted. Noone else would drive her unless it was Theros himself. And he was getting well paid for it.

He brushed the dark brown hair from his eyes, adjusting his sunglasses as he glanced back at her. "The casino, Mischa?"

"Yes. Just follow the movers." she said as she and Cela got into the back of the car. They began to discuss where to put things once there. He smiled faintly bringing the car in behind the moving truck.

When they arrived at the casino, Theros was waiting. He accessed the security panel for Mischa's elevator and the doors opened wide. Two of the people he had personally recruited were standing nearby to ensure that the movers only went where told. Theros was strict about that. The place was not open and he did not want anyone wandering around.

She nodded to them as she walked in behind Theros. Once on the upper floor, she smiled as did Cela. Both girls were looking forwards to this. It was exciting and new. And both were getting used to being pampered.

When she walked in the suite, it was like getting a breathe of fresh air for the first time in a long time. Large potted plants were scattered and the sound of a small waterfall murmurred throughout the immediate space. While the workers began unpacking and placing things where Cela indicated, Mischa moved towards the windows at the back of the suite but it was considered the front of the casino. She could see the fountains below and smiled. as she glanced past them to stare at the lake. She might have to get a boat to enjoy also and have a private dock set up.

"Everything as you wanted it, Mi?" Theros asked watching her a moment before glancing outside.

"Yes. Once Cela is settled, we need to start hiring. Sam's people will be moving in. And I'd like to get opened in the next three weeks."

He nodded, frowning thoughtfully. "I think we can do that. I have others lined up for security besides the two here today. We have those that Asmo commands for true protection but for mortals we will need to at least appear as they think. Others will come also. Demons, half demons, and more. They will want the safety as well as the power this will bring. Just think, Mi. You will soon be a very powerful woman." Once more he turned to watch her.

"Power is not everything, Theros. I just got tired of being on the receiving end. That's all." She walked away from him, picking up a book as she went. Sitting down at the couch, she began reading but was not really in the mood so she soon closed the tome. It was a distraction at best.

For a moment she glanced around her. It was almost hard to believe that this was all hers. The rich navy, burgundy, and cream fabrics around her said otherwise. The fireplace was lit, but it was a faux log that had been placed there. It was ambiance at its best and most luxurious. Someone would be hard pressed to tell the difference when a full fire roared within.

Theros watched her a moment, pouring two drinks from the bar nearby. The movers continued moving around and placing things where instructed. He held one out to Mischa before moving over to sit across from her. "Just soda water with a bit of lime." He replied when she raised an eyebrow but accepted it.

Nodding, she took it, sipping before placing it on a coaster next to her. Theros however held his glass of brandy in his hand as he watched her. "It won't take them long, Mi. Then you will have the place to yourself."

"Have you seen Asmo?" she asked frowning faintly. She'd not seen him since the previous night. Unusual.

"He was busy. He and Seere were moving their harems here." His lips twitched as she muttered under her breath. "He's not without his needs too." He smirked, then added, "Neither am I."

She stared at him a moment. "Stay away from the employees, Theros. I don't care what customers you get involved with so long as it does not affect the casino, but it will not be good for employee moral. So they are off limits."

His lips twitched. "Got it. Off limits. Then I guess that means I get you."

"Not hardly." she growled, eyes narrowing slightly. He was deliberately baiting her.

He laughed at her bristling attitude, still trying to figure out what it was Asmo wanted from her. She was exceedingly pretty with those jade eyes, but there was something he could not quite see. And it was that which intrigued him.

For a long moment they stared at one another. He could see the challenge there and appreciate it, but it slipped away as Cela walked over to them.

"They are finished, Mischa. I'm showing them where to put my things. I'll be back afterwards and we can fix some lunch and just relax a little." the girl stated, her eyes narrowing at Theros faintly. He'd said something that irritated Mischa and her lips twitched upwards. She was sure that Mi liked him but was trying to keep him at a distance. After what happened with Jeffrey, who could blamer her?

"Alright, Cela, I'm going to sit here and read awhile." She opened the book up again, deliberately ignoring Theros further.

Downing his drink, Theros got to his feet. Placing the glass in the sink, he moved towards the door. "After we get Cela moved in, I've a few phonecalls to make and then we can figure out when we want to spend the day taking applications." They were well on their way to causing this to happen. And he was definitely enjoying himself in the process.

Security

Theros leaned back into his chair. His eyes turned expectantly to the door though he was quite certain that few of them would use it. He had shut it merely to irritate those who would. His lips twitched in amusement at the thought.

Soqanu thought long and hard about the rumor of the new casino when he first heard it. The second rumor interested him more. Theros was to be head of security. The others still argued and talked of it, but none moved to find out if it were really true. There were options here if one looked for them.

His eyes narrowed thoguhtfully as he leaned idly against the wall. He listened but interjected his own thoughts in as he studied the situation. Even now most were hesitant, but others excited. Soq knew that if Theros was doing this, then Asmodeus was involved in some way. It had been a long time since the demon prince had pushed for something here. He must be unsatisfied with life at the court. Too tame for him more than likely.

With that fact in mind, he glanced over at Jennet. The girl was simply listenind, twirling a strand of violet tipped black hair. Her blue eyes shined as she listened. When she noticed him watching, she stared back for a long moment.

He lazily nodded towards the door. She returned a tilt to her head before nudging one of the brothers next to her. Discreetly, one at a time, they filtered outside the room to talk.

"So what do you think, Soqanu?" she asked simply watching him.

"I know Theros. He's an immortal. Rumored to have been raised by Asmodeus himself. If Theros is in charge, then something big is up. If that's true, then it simply becomes do we want in on it?"

"I've heard nothing of him being summoned." Lukal, the elder Aldir brother, replied, raising an eyebrow.

Soqanu snorted. "Do you think he would allow that? He does not need to be summoned. All he needs is a contract and he'd find a way to get someone to agree. A female most likely considering what he is." He frowned thoughtfully. "The owners are female. Both of them."

"So who are they?" Jennet asked, folding her arms.

"A girl named Mischa Renaue`, recently widowed. And the other... is Sam Marlin."

Thaedon, the younger Aldir brother whistled. "There's money there. I bet Gambino is ticked off."

"More than likely, which leads me to believe that there's more than Theros getting a job." Soq added.

All four remained silent for a long moment. Jennet nervously tossing her knife at the wall. She pulled the blade out, fingers tracing the edge absently. "So, what are we doing?"

Soqanu watched her a moment more, dropping his cigarette. His foot ground it out as he glanced at the three standing beside him. "I'm going to see Theros. I'll see what's up and call you. I want some more fun before I'm sent to hell." A smirk crossed his face as he vanished.

All three laughed, leaving the building. They were soon in a car careening down the highway. It would not be long before Soq would be calling for them.

Theros smiled when the half demon appeared. "It's been a long time, Soq."

"Yeah. It has, Theros." He raised an eyebrow as he sat down in the chair indicated. Brushing his dark hair from his eyes, he said, "So, head of security... Coming up in the world."

"A good opportunity. For now." he replied, eyes gleaming. "Interested?"

"Always. Tell me." He poured himself a drink before leaning back to listen.

"Security. Most of it has been laid out, but I want those I trust in the top jobs so that everything is taken care of our way."

"I see. He's back, isn't he?"

"Yes. On his own terms. Lilith is dead, but it's not just him you serve here, Soq." Theros added. "He has allied himself with another prince since he's outside the court of hell now."

Soq blinked in surprise, asking, " Who?"

"Seere. Asmodeus' power does not lie in the court but Seere's does. Together they are strong. Very strong."

The half demon drew his breath in sharply. "Damn. A base of power..."

"Exactly. Neither intend to return for some time to come." Theros stated. "The job is yours if you want it."

"And summoners?"

"Mischa. Sam is Seere's. Both are off limits and you do whatever it takes to protect them and this place. We would like to keep the clergy clueless. So everything needs to be done as discreetly as possible though we will have those who can cover up in an emergency."

He nodded. "I'll take it. Three so far. How many do you need? Jennet and the Aldir brothers."

"I've met them. They were with you last time. At least five to six more. That puts the main bulk of the control with us. Half demons or humans who will not betray us. Although Asmodeus and Seere will have others walking around unseen. Hounds in the vaults. And there is an angel who will be staying here. She's Seere's and off limits. Don't go near her except to protect her. And the employees are naturally off limits. At least for the most part. Mischa's the main owner and it's one of her requests." A faint smirk was on his face that said what Mi did not know would not hurt them.

Soqanu laughed. "We can do that. Rooms?"

"Rooms are ready and waiting for all who need them. Both princes have harems for their own use, but there is a bordello here also. Razz, one of Seere's, will serve as immediate security there. If she needs help, you are to support her."

"Anything else?"

"No. I'll show you the camera room and give you access to it later. The rooms are on this floor at the west end of the casino. Should be someone there to ask. Just look around for now so you know where everything is." Theros stated as Soqanu got to his feet.

"Alright. I'll get them here and see what the setup is." Soqanu stated, turning towards the door. "It'll be nice working with you again, Theros. And him. It's about time we all had more again. Instead of hiding in the shadows." He then chuckled, " Although there is something to be said for that."

Theros tossed Soqanu a badge. "That says you belong here. You said there are three with you?" He tossed three more badges to the front of the table. "For them. The others you can bring to me when you get them."

Soq took the badges after putting his own on. "Suits I presume."

"Yes. We will furnish those. You will need to report for sizing. They will give you a week's worth of suits and they can be cleaned in one of the shops in the casino for free. We pay the bill." Theros explained.

"That's good. Alright, I'm going to take a look around and wait for the others. Later." Sog replied, walking from the room.

Theros grinned widely. He had been hoping that Soqanu would take the bait. And he had. As well as his friends. That made Theros' job much easier.

By the time the others arrived, Soqanu knew where nearly everything was. The two guards already there, had shown him the rooms and the basics. They would find out later that he was their boss as much as Theros was his. Theros trusted them so he would also.

He was waiting on the steps when Jennet, Theadon, and Lukal arrived. Handing them their badges, he explained the gist of things especially about Asmodeus and Seere. All were as surprised as he had been.

Then they laughed. This was going to be most fun, they'd had in ages.

Last Minute Preparations

Theros was still hiring. a few had come in last minute and he had taken a liking to them. She let him have his way, but she was sure that they served Asmodeus in some fashion. He was drawing many that she was sure were demons or half-demons or human servants. Who was she to argue so long as they kept the elegance and taste of the casino and what she wanted?

Asmodeus had placed a hand on her shoulder when he was looking them over, and all had glanced away from her. Except Theros who had an annoying grin on his face. For some reason she wanted to wipe it off by slapping him.

A warning of some sort to them. She was sure of it. But she had not liked their attitudes in the beginning. Now she was certain they would leave her alone and do as she expected.

But tired of the attention, Mi had finally gone to her rooms. Some part of her hated Jeffrey for forcing her into this. Another side of her thanked him. She was on her own, had her own money, and a business. She was actually making her own decisions for a change and treated as something more than a slave.

Once the casino was in full swing and the spa working, Mischa planned to pamper herself by making time at least twice a week to enjoy herself. She deserved it. As she glanced over the papers on the table, she sighed. They would need taken care of by morning.

Asmodeus stalked into the room, watching her a moment. A slight smirk settled onto his face. "Excited about the casino?"

She shrugged. "It works. Just make sure you get people that we can trust."

"We?" he smirked more. "I'm glad you included me."

She turned to him, a growl in her throat. "Oh, shut up."

"Well, well. Getting some spunk are we?" He grinned widely at her. "It's about time." Moving closer to her, he leaned down over her. "Fight hard, Mischa. In the end it will make no difference at all. You will still be mine."

Her eyes narrowed as she grit her teeth. "We will see, demon. I had no choice then."

"And you do now?" he broke into laughter stepping away from her. Sitting down he watched her in even more amusement.

"More than I had then." she replied, staring at him. "Who knows how much more I will have later. I'm patient. I'll bide my time." She smirked getting to her feet. "We will see then."

The next morning when she woke, Mi opened her eyes slowly. She gazed at the curtains for a moment, looking to see how much light there was already. The richness of the sheets and blankets wanted her to slide back to sleep. Even though she knew she had to get up, the girl enjoyed it for another fifteen minutes before slipping her feet over the side of the bed and forcing herself to get up.

So much was different now. A widow instead of married. Her expression flickered for a moment. She should feel bad about killing him, at least causing his death. She did not. Her gaze crossed the rich creaminess of the paint on the walls. The casino would open soon and this was her life now. She could do or have whatever she wanted. And there was still alot of work to do yet.

A sigh slipped free as she walked towards the bathroom. A hot shower would wake her up, but as she walked past the mirror, she glanced at her reflection. Mischa stopped staring at her reflection for a long moment. Her natural color hair was showing at the roots again. It would have to be redone before the grand opening. She wanted to look her best that night. Maybe it was time to have something done again.

A quick shower and a phone call later, Mi left her apartment. She'd not eaten but she would be testing the chefs again today, so she would wait until lunch. Her hair was more important at the moment and she walked down the hallway towards the area where the salon and spa were.

Theros glanced over at her as he spoke to Soqanu a few moments. Both men watched her closely for a moment, then after nodding turned back to what they were discussing. But Soq noticed that Theros had changed his angle to watch her as far as he could. His lips twitched upwards minutely as he continued speaking.

Mi nodded to them, but she did not stop. Anything that needed dealt with later would be. Right now she wanted some pampering. A smile crossed her face as Dorinda, the salon manager greeted her with a smile.

"Mischa. It's nice to see you here. What can I do for you? I was rather surprised to get your call this morning." the older woman stated. She was familiar with all the things that could happen in a casino, but it had been an opportunity that she just could not pass up. It was a chance to run her own salon rather than be a stylist under another.

"I need something, Dorinda. I'm not entirely sure what, but the natural color of my hair is coming out again. And I'm tired of the black. I've had it since I was about 17 or so I think."

"So... time for a change. Are we going short or long still?" She had already begun laying out the things she would need on the table beside her. There were no others in the salon this early and those that were coming were setting up their stations and to be there for orientations for their duties at the casino.

"I still like the length, though I'm sure it can use a trim. I like the curls. I think just a good condition, color change, and trim." Mi replied taking the seat offered.

"Alright. We will see what we can come up with. Your hair is naturally curly, but I'm going to even that out a bit with an iron after we color and cut it. First I'll have to strip the black dye from it. Too bad I don't have a piece of the original color. It would make it easier matching it."

Mi pulled a small ringlet from her purse. "Here. My mom had this in her jewelry box for years. I know it's mine. I remember her joking when she cut it." The girl's voice was soft and Dorinda patted her shoulder briefly.

"That will work great, Mi. I need to mix a few things. Keep talking while I am. It's just around the corner. I can hear you." she stated as she moved away.

The sounds of mixing could be heard, but Mischa began to talk anyhow. "How ready are you?"

"Really we are ready now. I'm just orienting the girls on what they will have to do here and for the employees. How about the rest of the casino?"

"A couple weeks. I'm testing the chefs after I'm done here. I plan to taste the afternoon away." she laughed. "I hope I don't gain any weight. My dresses might not fit for opening night."

"I'm sure you could get another one." the woman laughed. "Probably have several designers on hand anyhow."

"Actually a couple that Sam introduced me to."

"I would imagine. I hired a couple extra girls for the first month like Cela asked. If they work out, I might assign a couple permanently to help with the showgirls only.

She walked back into the room carrying a couple things she had mixed. It had been easy enough to match the color with the hair on hand. Mischa's hair was actually a shade between two and the hardest color to even get to come out accurately. But reds were like that. When the girl's hair began to grow out, it would be even more vibrant on her. Oddly she could not understand why the girl had colored it at all. Many of her customers would kill for such a color.

"Good. She was hoping that you would. It will make it easier. When I called I was not sure you would have things set up enough."

"Oh. I have all my supplies and then some. And the girls are simply adjusting to what they will need to do. We are pretty much ready now."

As she took care of Mi's hair, both women talked of many things. Not limited to the casino. At one point, the stylist laughed.

"That Theros is a cute one, Mischa. Where did you find him?"

"I didn't. He found me." Telling the woman that he was a half demon under the beck and call of a prince demon was out of the question.

"I could stand an older version of him finding me. He's just a bit too young."

"He's annoying." Mischa replied, knowing that she could not tell Dorinda how old Theros really was. His immortality and racial heritage could not be discussed with the average person. The woman would probably run screaming if she knew of the ones running around. She'd probably have a heartattack if she knew of the two harems that Asmo and Seere had or even the bordello that was planned to be there. Appearances were everything at the moment.

She never commented further as the woman finished her hair. A quick trim and she began curling it so that it cascaded around Mi's face. "By the way, if you do not want to ever do your hair, just call and the girls will take care of you. But leave the coloring and cutting to me. Your hair color is a very touchy one and I'd rather you not end up with green or something."

"Green?" Mischa blinked. "I hope not."

"Well, that's usually the color red shifts to if the dye is wrong. And sometimes orange. It's really hard to fix once that happens also. All done." she said, removing the apron around Mi's shoulders. "It's beautiful, Mischa. You should keep it this color. It really really suits you."

Mischa nodded, getting to her feet, turning to look in the mirror. She stared at her reflection briefly wondering if it were really her. "Wow, Dorinda. It looks really good. Thank you."

"Then you like it?"

"Yes. What do I owe you for your time today?"

"Nothing, Mi. This is your casino. I just really appreciate having the opportunity to have my own salon. I've always wanted one." she laughed, hugging Mi tightly. "Go on. I'll clean up before the girls get here."

Mi nodded, hugging her and then left the salon. Continuing towards the elevator, she stopped to get her keys.

"I'm sorry, miss. But this is a private elevator." The voice was suddenly behind her causing her to jump slightly.

She turned around to find Theros standing there with Soqanu. "And why would I not be able to go into my own elevator, Theros?" Mi smirked slightly as he stared at her and then his eyes narrowed.

"Mischa? Damn. From the back I didn't even know it was you. Why did you change your hair?"

The girl watched him a moment and then laughed. "Actually, this is my natural color. I got rid of the black dye. I was tired of it. Not that it is any of your business."

Theros folded his arms, just staring at her appreciatively. He'd not suspected she dyed her hair. "It suits you. I like it much better than the black."

She looked annoyed suddenly as she stared at him. "Maybe I will redye it." Turning on her heel, she entered the elevator, glaring at him.

Soqanu broke into laughter as the door closed. "Man, she really does not like you."

"We'll see." Theros smirked, then added, "But damn.. I like her hair red." Maybe this was what Asmodeus saw in her all along. A fire unlike any other. It was just bringing it out from where the abusive husband had driven it. Time would tell.

Mischa sighed, pulling her coat a bit closer to her. The wind tossed her red hair about. As it drifted into her face, she smiled faintly, glad that she had returned to her natural color. It suited her much better than the black had. For once she felt entirely like her old self before Jeffrey and briefly she hoped he was burning for his treatment of her.

As she stepped along the street, the girl glanced at the windows stopping here and there to see what was displayed. But then she would move on slowly down the street, pacing herself. For weeks she had been working on the casino and trying to stay closeby, but this day she found a need to get away from everything there. Especially Asmodeus and Theros. Both constantly looked over her shoulders and it was getting annoying seeing the smirks on both their faces. So much so that she wanted to lash out and wipe the smirks right off. As hard as she could.

She suddenly laughed drawing the attention of a passerby to her. Sam would have told her to go for it. So would Seere. He was a gentleman in comparison to Asmodeus. It figures she'd get stuck with someone so bullish and intent on doing things his way. Shrugging at the man, she continued walking, thinking that whatever she did the demon prince deserved entirely.

It was then she noticed. It was the same shop she had found out about her demon prince in. She stopped, hesitating as she glanced at the things in the window. A smile on her face, she wondered briefly if that handsome fellow was still working there. Most likely. And she had invited him to the opening of the casino. A thought occurred to her and she wondered what her irritants would say if she were escorted opening night by this fellow who seemed to dabble in daemonologie. It would make the night more interesting to say the least.

With another soft laugh, she opened the door, stepping inside. Her gaze glanced around noting that it was pretty much the same as before. Running her fingers along the spines of the books next to her, she called, "Is anyone here?" She hoped it was him.

For a few months now, Edward had been reorganizing the shop. Or... he thought he had. His memory was strangely foggy, distant and somewhat blind to details, which was extremely abnormal. Even the murder of his parents was crystal clear in his mind's eye; that was why Hae-min made jokes about him being the camcorder of Daemonolgie.

Well, camcorders didn't work on the premises and now he couldn't remember anything quite clearly that had happened since... much of October. Just the summonings remained in their normal, crystal clarity. One of them in particular interested him - the foggy quality persisted, a small bit, into this meeting. Mischa, he thought, wasn't that her name? But the log was vague; no name was listed, and so he could not enlist anyone into the location of the woman. Mischa, dark-haired...

He was closing the cookbook he'd been examining when he heard Banshee speak - Asmodeus's summoner approaches. "Does she now," he said, mostly to himself, and he shelved the book and proceeded down the stairs. There was a redheaded woman browsing the stacks; she called out, and he quirked a smile. It seemed to be a talent among the workers at Daemonolgie, to remain hidden until they were needed. Even now he would be obvious to one who was carefully observing their surroundings, if they knew where to look.

Edward straightened his shirt and said, "Yes, I'm here," as he stepped off the final step. "How may I assist you, miss...?" He offered a courtly bow from the waist as he waited for her name. Mischa... something...

"Mischa Renaue`. You've changed things, at least you are," she said softly turning to watch Edward a moment. It was him and she smiled as she studied the way he was dressed. Definitely still as handsome as she remembered. She had nearly made a pass at him that day. She probably would before she left here this day.

"I was just curious if the shop was still here. Many of the shops along here have closed. It's a shame. I really did not need anything." She hesitated a moment, but then laughed. "That's not entirely true. I do want something but I'm still trying to figure out if I should ask or not."

Her lips twitched upwards. She moved a bit closer to him, her eyes just watching him as if she were trying to figure him out. "I just wanted to talk to you a few minutes. Not really about anything, just curiosity. What is your name?"

Her teeth tugged her lower lip absently as she waited on him to reply. It was a nervous habit she had picked up after her parents died. With a sudden sigh, she added, in amusement at herself. "Or you can tell me to leave without my asking since I'm sure I'm confusing to say the least."

romantic wishes
He straightened, letting the arm that had been folded across his body fall to his side. With a rakish tilt to his head, he said, "Yes, it's quite a shame, isn't it? Still, it's well for us - fewer people to mistakenly decide they have need of us. Though the summoning arts are dying, it is an act that should be the last resort... as I'm sure you know, miss Renaue`." A commiserating smile: he understood the drive for revenge, the way it could force you to do things you'd never imagine doing. He understood even more the pain of realizing that you could never strike back at those who had hurt you.

Though, Edward doubted that troubled this particular summoner. She seemed very urbane. "Ask away," he said, picking up a book from a nearby table and placing it back into its space on the proper shelf. "I assure you, I am the utmost of secret-keepers, if that is your worry. I have had young boys asking me to bind sex demons to them before - a contract which, regrettably, was broken, and so I do not feel compelled to remain silent on this matter the longer. I will not be troubled by any question you care to ask."

Upon hearing her question, he laughed. It wasn't intended to be cruel, nor cold; in fact, it seemed rather more warm and relieved than the man's appearance called for. "Why would I conceal my name? I am Edward Fauste. It's a pleasure to meet you again."

Eftemie

She laughed softly. "Edward. It suits you. I suppose I should if I had summoned him. He came to me but not through my doing, but his own. I suppose he's been kicked out of hell. He hinted at such, but it seemed to suit his purposes. And I did take his offer when I had little choice for anything else." Mischa shrugged. "I'm actually the better for it when he keeps his smirks to himself. I'll figure something out to stop the big jerk in his tracks no matter how tied up he thinks he has me and then laugh at him when I do."

"And I'll ask soon enough. I just wanted to get to know you a bit more first." Mischa stated, reaching out to straighten the collar of his shirt. Her eyes watched him with a smile for a long moment, before she pulled her hand back. "I suppose it could be very interesting working here. All sorts of people coming in and bringing you their problems. But you make yourself sound like a priest. I certainly hope you are not. I cannot see a priest escorting me to the opening night of my new casino."

Mischa laughed again. "You did say I could ask you anything. I'd be lying if I did not admit some is to get back at Asmo and Theros, but I'd be lying also if I said I was not interested inspite of them. I nearly made a pass at you the first time I saw you. That's why I came back, Edward."

romantic wishes
He lifted his brows in question; Edward had never seriously considered a demon being able to freely break through the Veil. Not even he could cross the Veil to the demonic realms and he was not only human, but he had the backing of several others more powerful than he. It was something worth puzzling over, this tidbit that Miss Renaue` had given him, probably without even knowing what she offered or what he would have done not five minutes ago to know for sure: Demons could break through the astral veils.

"Heh, I am hardly a priest-" he started to say, but then the rest of the sentence sunk in.

Edward was a handsome man. He knew he was a handsome man, and he was used to using his appearance to get what he wanted, which generally was some kind of ancient research tome or someone to sign a contract they didn't particularly want to take. Even the somewhat common stares from people on the street became rather... normal. But blatant declarations of interest of any kind, especially in the vein of 'used to make a demon jealous', seemed slightly... dangerous. Hae-min's little friend would have said sketchy.

Still, he summoned up the smile again and said, "It would be an honor to escort you, Miss Renaue`."

Eftemie
Mischa laughed. "Frankly, I'm glad you are not a priest. I'm just tired of them staring over my shoulder and I want to have some fun that night. That's why I thought of you. I thought you might need some fun too. So it's a date." She tilted her head, her eyes softening a bit as she really watched him closely. There was something about him she really liked. Then she smiled, teasing him. "Make sure you put on your dancing shoes, Edward."

Reaching into her bag, she pulled out a simple card with her name and number on it. A pen was suddenly in her hand, writing the date and time on the back. "My private number and the date. I live at the casino now. The glassed-in front is not simply security offices. I'll send my driver for you. His name is Vincent Anderson and he will show you where the private elevator is for my suite. I doubt he'll say much unless you ask him a question directly." Holding the card out, she waited for him to take it.

"And... " she frowned If you have any friends that want to come to the opening, they are welcome. Just let me know and I'll see that their names are added to the list for that night. I have to limit the capacity to 2000, and the first night is special invitation only, but I reserved a few spots for myself."

Tired of the demons or of staring priests? A moment's thought rendered the answer - the demons, of course. He smiled thoughtfully - yes, it would be nice to get out of the shop. The two Mhin siblings would be more than enough staff to hold the 'keep', as it were, if Tae-yul stayed upstairs and Hae-min sat down here to wait in case of customers. "Of course, miss Renaue`," he agreed amicably. "Would you prefer tap shoes or spats?" A somewhat rakish quirk to his smile exposed his joke for what it was; Edward more than understood the expression.

"Of course," he said, tucking the card into his back pocket. "Thank you again, miss."

Eftemie

Mischa's lips lifted, her eyes mischievious and she laughed softly. "Miss Renaue`? I don't think so, Edward. My name is Mischa or Mi to my friends. I suppose if you wear spats you'd have to wear a zoot suit also." Then she teased, "I could have one sent to you. Complete with hat and chained watch."

Laughing she shook her head. This was more fun than she'd expected. Sam would be proud of her for being brave enough to ask him when she did not really know him at all. "After the welcome to the casino, I'm not doing anything but enjoying myself and dancing with you."

Her watch buzzed and she sighed as she shut it off. "I have to go. I sneaked away from Vincent. But I'm sure he'll be tracking me down soon. Edward, thank you for agreeing. I appreciate it." With a smile on her face, she left the shop. The limo pulled up in front of her, stopping. Vincent got out asking as he opened the door, "Ready to go, Miss Renaue`?"

"Would it matter if I said no?" Mi muttered under her breath. "Nevermind. Don't say it. Yes, let's go." She sighed. As she had thought, he knew exactly where she was.

romantic wishes
"I will see you, then, Mischa," said Edward, taking to the name as easily as if he had been saying it the entire time. Barely moments after the door closed, two very separate sets of feet pounded down the stairs - one light and tentative, barely audible, and the other bold, the anger clear in their steps.

Tae-yul, of course, spoke first, whirling around to face Edward. His gray eyes were narrowed and suspicious. "Who was that b***h," he snarled, his face bestial in rage.

Hae-min, behind the two men, piped up before Edward could get a word in edgewise, and before Tae-yul could finish his angry gesture. "Yes, and what was her star sign? She seemed very nice, not like I was listening at all, of course I wasn't!" Tae-yul shifted sideways to peer at his sister with clear disbelief. Edward turned around to catch an eyeful of her bright, guileless smile. "That would be rude," finished the woman, as if she had no idea what she had just interrupted. "Dongsaeng, you should get your best suit cleaned, I think we are going to go out somewhere else on the -" she paused, forehead wrinkling, and then turned to Edward and said politely, "Of course, if you don't desire his company, I'll happily occupy my silly dongsaeng."

"Occupy me," snapped Tae-yul, "as if I were a child!"

The diminutive woman smiled, and her brother slowly quailed. "Of course, dongsaeng," she said, and she looped her arm through one of his and pulled him unceremoniously from the shop.

Well, thought Edward, at least his day had been rather exciting.

Eftemie
As she rode back back to the casino, Mischa thought about Edward. It would be amusing if he did hunt up a zoot suit, but she was sure that another suit would be more like him. Maybe for the next costume party or Samhain. It was a thought she filed back for later.

She honestly did not expect him to bring anyone with him, but she had wanted to make the offer. And she was sure Cela would want to meet him. Her friend did not know about the demons yet. But it would make no difference to her either. The girl would be upset with Mischa, but then after thinking about Jeffrey, she knew that Cela would be as glad as she was.

"Tell me something, Vincent. Is it cold of me to be happy someone is dead? I mean..." she hesitated. "Someone mean and abusive who was only getting worse?"

He glanced in the mirror at her. "Death comes to us all, miss, but sometimes we all feel that way. I don't think it's wrong except dependent on the point of view of those watching. But they haven't walked your path to know why you would think that either."

She nodded, frowning softly as they arrived back at the front door. "Just see that the packages are delivered to my apartment, okay?"

Mischa stepped out as he nodded, but turned back quickly. "Thank you for the opinion, Vincent. It's appreciated. And if you and Cela need anything for opening night, it's on me."

Turning away she headed up the elevator to her door. After unlocking it, she sat down tiredly on the chair in the living room, tossing her coat and purse aside. She heard the footsteps and knew it was him. Turning to stare at him, she could barely keep the smirk from her face.

Asmo's eyes narrowed as he watched her. "What are you up to?"

"Nothing."

"Where have you been? It shouldn't have taken that long." He scowled as he watched her closely. She looked like a cat that had eaten a mouse secretly spoiling her supper.

"Just shopping." she said getting to her feet. Then she laughed and tossed over her shoulder. "And getting a date for opening night." Then Mi took the easy way to avoid his questions. She entered her bedroom which was off limits to the demons. All of them.

The Designs Of Asmodeus &
You Are My Thrill

The demon prince sat down in the chair nearby. He thought about Mischa's words. The female was up to something and he suddenly had the impression that he would not like it. A sudden grin split the demon's face.

She was becoming all that he had thought she would be. Much was coming from the girl as she got her feet back under her. He wanted her to fight because he'd have fun breaking her to him but in a way her husband had never understood was within the girl.

Hot-tempered and passionate just as the red hair stated blatantly. He'd always seen a fire in her though. Just like he had Zuleika.

Asmodeus frowned slightly, leaning back comfortably. Zuleika still had not appeared. He had hoped that when she understood he was gone from the court, she would come with him. At least that had been his intention. She had been wasted on Lilith. Limited.

He thought back to the last time he had seen her.

romantic wishes
Her hands were fisted tightly at her side, the hallway coated with an inch of thick ice. The servants avoided her gaze, the younger ones eyeing her beastly sharp teeth with more than a healthy dose of fear. Some of them whimpered, which did nothing to appease the ice demoness as she stood in the hallway that was the only egress from the Unconsecrated Queen's throne room. She was so pissed off, her cheeks were actually flushed a bright red that was especially striking against her icily pale skin.

There. The object of her ire proceeded towards her - nonchalant, of course he wouldn't think about stealing her career, her obsession, in the name of some ridiculous coup. Zuleika watched Prince Asmodeus proceed down the hall and tried to pull herself together enough to bring the ice back under the control of her mind, rather than her emotions. An unearthly, cruel chuckle managed to slip past her as she considered the image of that a** falling on the ice - but no. That would not be the right response.

"You son of a goat-whoring b***h," she said, her voice perfectly modulated and deadly in its crooning. "Who do you think you are."

Her armor glinted in the strangely wintery light as she moved to intercept him. Zuleika knew she could stop him in his tracks if she so chose - he was higher ranked, he had more legions, but combat was what she did, it was her purpose, and now she could no longer employ those skills in the service of she who needed it the most because of this outsider Prince. "Explain," she ordered, barely even noticing that she had already half-drawn her sword.

By all the gods of Hell, she was so. pissed.

Eftemie

Asmodeus strode down the hallway. It was certain that Lilith wanted to see him for what he had done. Zuleika. He would not apologize for it. Even to Lilith. This demoness pulled at him in ways that few others ever had, but he would never admit that to the queen of demons. And he was quite sure he would be punished in some way. He'd not done it without expecting that.

Would she have rathered that the demoness fell to one lower than he? Most likely not, but then Lilith had not wanted Zuleika to have such a weakness. It was why she trained constantly. And whether he wanted to admit it or not, Zuleika was a weakness of a sort to him. He had wanted her not just because of the bets by the lower ranked demons, but because HE had simply wanted her and she was worth more than those gambling on her. But it had been thrilling to pursue her and succeed. It made him remember the days when he had been above. Everything was an adventure then. Zuleika was definitely one.

A grin nearly broke across his face at the ice, but he managed to keep it under control showing none of the amusement he felt. The one thing he knew was that she was deadly in combat. Something he admired about her, but she was wasted protecting Lilith, though he knew someone had to do so. The demoness was worth far more than that and should be out fighting and bringing souls back. At least he felt she should. It would take time to make her see that though.

This was but the first step. The next step was getting out of hell. He was tired of the court and its ways. It had been centuries since he'd been in the world directly. And the demon wanted that. He had plans. Zuleika was but a portion of it.

"Asmodeus, a demon prince." he replied seriously. "Do you really think this was merely about some low level coup, Zuleika?" He folded his arms to watch her a moment. She was beautiful and he enjoyed looking at her more than he had others in a long time. "You are worth more than that, but you consented to my seduction. It is not entirely my fault, but I must say you are beautiful even if angry. And I'd tell Lilith the same thing."

romantic wishes
Was he blaming her for his indiscretions? By all the powers, she'd done nothing wrong! It was a consensual relationship, as if that mattered in Hell, but no matter, she had not abandoned her duties to be with him, never had she served Lilith to anything less than the Queen's perfect satisfaction. Even if she desired another demon romantically, didn't the Queen know that Zuleika's purest devotion and loyalty was hers?

"Well, sweetie," she said, her sneer adding a cruel twist to the word, "if it wasn't about a threat to my Queen, I wouldn't have lost my position, you - you -"

Ugh, she was not going to lose any more control because of this b*****d! She gritted her teeth and pressed her fists to the side of her head for a moment. Analyzing the situation from a calmer place - the ice began to melt, the first flames of her fury almost extinguished - she noted something rather odd about his posture. It was relaxed. Almost casual, like he was - like he was - laughing at her - "I love - loved you and you used me," she snarled, descending quickly into a more dangerous, frozen rage. Her eyes had glazed over, turning from a painfully virulent red to something... icy, like blood when splattered on snow. Almost a dark, burgundy red, and it was a shade that barely anyone had ever seen.

Lowering her hands for a moment, she said, "What am I supposed to think? I don't know what you do, you b*****d, and -" The enormity of the situation hit her, again, and without thinking she slammed a fist into the side of his arrogant-a** worthless unthinking face with all two thousand years of near-constant training behind it. Her right hook had put Princes to the floor before; she hoped sincerely, with vicious pleasure, that it would do so again.

Eftemie

Asmodeus staggered backwards, nearly losing his footing completely. Instead he went down on one knee hard, shaking his head. He'd almost swear that it rattled. For a moment he'd seen stars. Or perhaps ducks. Either way it hurt as he knew it would. Getting back to his feet, he rubbed his jaw, just watching her. "Nicely done, Zuleika. The Queen should be proud of that, but the threat perceived was hers. My intent is what should have mattered and it is not what she thinks. She sees plots against her where there are none and ignores the real threats. I could care less for the plots of the court and the other princes except where they affect me and mine. Then I'm obligated to protect."

He stared at her a moment, then openly admitted, "I did use you and the results are exactly as I expected. But know this, I did not touch you for the supposed coup. I did because I loved you- wanted you and for what I do have planned. It was simply my plans that mattered in the beginning, but it was not lightly done between us." Asmodeus said, folding his arms again. "And I do not expect you to know what I do or even to believe me. Are we finished here now? I was ordered to see her."

Asmo had admitted to her more than he had ever confessed to another. He did love her, but he was sure she hated him now. This could have been done no other way, and he knew she would not believe him. At least not now. He hoped she had enough sense to come to him when she understood he was not here. There was more for them yet and he smiled inwardly. Much more.

romantic wishes
A visceral satisfaction warred for the barest moment with nausea; she stood there, at the end of her follow-through, half-collapsed herself and vulnerable. "What pretty words," she laughed, but the syllables were oddly jarred as she tried to draw a full breath. This had been everything. Her entire existence as a demon had been centered around protecting the Queen Mother. Now she had lost her vantage point. Some other demon would take her place, would not be as skilled as Zuleika, no matter how hard they tried or how many hours they trained. "I despise you. I want you to die."

Zuleika was not one for pretty lies. She turned her gaze up to his face, the glazed look warring with despair, as if she didn't recognize him. "We're demons, Prince," she continued in a tone of dead formality, straightening and pulling herself rigidly under control. A shake of her head set her straight locks of ink-black hair back into order. The armor protecting her from shoulder to wrist glinted and clinked coolly as she hugged herself tightly. "We lie like we were born to it. We lie because we were born to it." Then her gaze sharpened. "This is not a lie: I will see you bleeding for your betrayal. Not of the Queen, even though that's a crime deserving of the final death. But because you lied, and now, faced with this, you continue to lie!... Even lower-ranked, useless demons like me have a breaking point."

She started to push past him, giving him the option of moving out of her way or slipping once more on the ice.

Eftemie
Asmodeus moved to the side, bowing to her. "As you say, Zuleika. But one day you will know the truth of this and perhaps more. There are times when it is important that even we tell the truth. Don't wait too long when you understand. Even I will cool from what I truly want and take another."

He stood back and watched her go. He could not not watch the demoness leave, but she was not ready to hear, trust, or understand his words. Not yet. Perhaps one day she would.

Turning back to the door in front of him, Asmodeus shook his head. Now to face Lilith. Hopefully she would word it in such a way that he could take it to mean as he wanted. And he would.

To leave Hell. That was what he wanted. Needed. He was tired of the intrigues and plottings. Of watching his back all the time. It was getting old when faced with the same manipulations and threats all the time. But up there, he had a chance to see something new. To do what he wanted. It had been a long time since he had been in the upper world. The world of humans. And he wanted it again. How he craved the rush of life there. He could almost taste the blood pumping out into his hands as he tore the heart and soul from some human. And enjoyed it.

Of course, he had used Zuleika, but that did not mean he did not love her. It was the only way he was certain that Lilith would give him the space he wanted. And that he'd be able to bring her with him and into her own. The demon prince was unsure when he had begun to plot this. Whether it was upon first meeting her when she first became Lilith's guard or when the bet had been made amongst the lesser demons. He had not wanted anyone to have her, but him.

And now all he had to do was face the Queen.

He frowned rubbing his jaw. She had hit him hard that day, but once more he grinned. She was all fire too where Lilith had wanted her cold as ice. Fire suited her better and his bed would be warmed by her again, but he would have to make her see that he did love her still. At least more than he loved anyone. Afterall, he was a demon who lied, used, murdered, and did far worse in the name of gathering souls for use.

Perhaps he would throw a bit of a curve Mischa's way. He needed.... A sudden smirk crossed his face as he got to his feet. It could be fun to see what happened. Asmodeus vanished, the grin firmly planted on his face.

He languished in the silk sheets as morning rose, the scent of jasmine in the air. For a long moment he simply lay still with his eyes closed thinking about his planned day. Three meetings in the afternoon were scheduled for his attention. They would not take long but were necessary.

Opening his eyes, he looked about. The girl that had been in his bed was already gone, knowing he did not want the small talk of the morning after. He was a prince and they were at his beck and call. Not he at theirs. Indeed when he traveled anywhere there were always three that accompanied him though they were never seen with him.

He stood moving towards a silken cord, tugging it down before walking to the window. The sun was just rising, casting a pinkish glow over the sand colored buildings below giving the city a rather romantic though hot and dusty atmosphere.

"Khalif." Asmodeus stated as he walked into view.

The man turned an eyebrow raised in surprise but then bowed quickly. "Lord Asmodeus, what brings you here?" he had only seen the demon's face once before this moment. It was etched within his mind. The demon's help had been needed to procure a very special girl and Prince Khalif dul Abdir was used to getting what he wanted.

"I have something for you to do. Make plans for a trip." the demon stated casually. "I need a body for something and I've decided yours will do nicel for this event. You will enjoy yourself."

"Then you are not here, my Lord?" A body? The demon needed to possess him for something he planned. Most unexpected.

"I am here. I have a contract with a young woman named Mischa Renaue`. She's a beautiful girl, hair like fire, emerald eyes." The demon smirked, "I have built a casino thru her. I'm here to remain. At least as long as possible. I am no longer in the court of hell. I left." Khalif did not need to know the details. He was faithful and those people under him worshipped faithfully. The prince would do as asked.

"I see. And I am going to this casino?" The prince hated the idea of relinquishing control, but Asmodeus was a demon prince and worthy of such. In this circumstance it was an honor to do so.

"Yes. The grand opening is soon. I have an invitation to the week's events." The demon placed an envelope on the table, a smirk on his face.

The prince nodded, "And this Mischa? What about her?" Anything that concerned this female he was interested in.

Asmodeus laughed. "Off limits, Khalif. She is NOT for your harem. I simply plan to have some fun with her." Sitting down, the demon began to give details. "Barely 22. She's just beginning to show some spirit and regain herself again. Husband was a b*****d and abused her badly." A grin crossed his face. "He's dead and serving me in hell."

"A treasure then that did not deserve such treatment. I understand." the prince replied, watching the demon thoughtfully. Asmodeus had plans for her.

"Yes. Our contract was an opportunity of convenience that drew me to her. She is partnered with Sam Marlin, the other money behind the casino, though Mischa has millions now."

"The Marlin name is known to me. I have done business with the family before." This was a look but do not touch duty. A temptation he would be pressed hard to resist if she were as the demon described. "Anything else I should know?"

"Bring your best clothes." Asmo smirked, getting to his feet as he added, "Sam Marlin is Seere's summoner."

Khalif blinked, his jaw dropping open. "Lord Seere is... ?"

"Yes. And allied. That is the other reason for my visit. His are to be sheltered should they need it. I do not plan to go back easily, Khalif." the demon prince stated as he turned to look out the window a moment.

The prince blinked as he gazed at Asmodeus. His mind whirled at the implications. "Of course they will be welcomed. I'll set those instructions out immediately. What did you do to leave though? If I may ask, my Lord."

Asmodeus laughed as he turned away. "Something I wanted to do. I seduced Lilith's Captain of her personal guards. Opportunity presented itself when I was told to leave. My motive in the first place but not my only one." The demon vanished.

The prince blinked staring at the empty space before walking over to the invitation. A servant carried in a tray setting the table with the food, turning after a bow. "Wait."

The woman turned back, "My Lord?"

"Send Meldor to me." His thoughts were chaotic as he focused on the staggering implication. The priests would need to be informed ad preparations made for a trip. Asmodeus and Seere were allied. And if they were here, who else would soon be?
