Callista heard footsteps coming down the stairs. No one was awake except for her, Raykine and the Innkeepers' lovely daughter, Cherise.
"Good morning there," Callista said and smiled to Ray. "Come have breakfast."
Cherise smiled shyly at Ray and placed another plate of food down on the seat next to Callista and walked into the back of the kitchen, pretending to do something.
"How was your sleep?"

"I didn't notice you had a fitful sleep, so I guess not," she lied merrily. Callista ate her breakfast, staring off into space and remembering the scars on Raykine's back, then to her mission. "Once we're done eating, we'll head out, get some horses, supplies and then we're leaving. I don't want to be in here very much longer."

"It's all the same to me," she said and laughed quietly. "I can't run though, so I'm going to buy a horse. If my horse gets skittish...well...I have a way with animals lets' say." Callista stopped and looked at Ray, wondering if he would take offence to what she said. Then again, why would he?

Callista smiled, realizing he took no offence, and watched him eat his other two meals. Running back up stairs, she quickly grabbed her scimitars and stuffed them behind her back once more, and headed out the door with a nod to Raykine. "I just need to get a horse Ray. Wait by the front gates okay?" she said and ran off toward the stable. She came back moments later with a pure white stallion. "Now, I'm ready." She mounted the horse and exited the gates and once they were outside, she turned at stared at the city gates for a moment, lost in thought.

Callista sighed heavily and then turned the horse in the opposite direction and rode very slowly. "Okay, are you ready to go quickly now? We need to get to they city of Orlan on the Plains before dark or we will be horded by the Dead Men. It'll take us about half a day at least to get there," Callista said sternly. Now that she was out on the road, she remained strictly business and nothing else unless it came to fighting. She kicked her horse lightly in the sides and they sped away quickly. She looked around to see if she could see Raykine, but her purple hair got in the way of her face.

Callista's eyes locked with Ray's yellow ones and she was lost for a moment until he broke eye contact. The only thing that brought her back to her task at hand was the rearing of her horse with an arrow in it's flank. "s**t! We're being ambushed!" she said and pulled her scimitars from behind her back. "Come out you b*****d and show yourself!"
From a small patch of forest to their left, emerged six, fully grown men who were muscular in more ways than Callista thought possible. Are you slapping me? Jumping down from her horse, she stood in a defensive position although her hair was getting in her face.
"Well. A pretty lady with a foul tongue. We'll have to fix that won't we boys?" one of the men said, and advanced toward Callista. He was large, maybe six and a half feet tall, with large arms and a torso. His legs were skinny, however, making Callista create a plan in her mind. He advanced towards her slowly, watching Ray out of the corner of his eye.

Callista caught the scream that was rising in her throat and watched the transformation just as awe-struck as the bandits. As he threw down his weapons though, she felt anger and hate for she thought he was betraying her, but his comment brought a sense of pride in her. She watched as one after another of the men fell. There was four left at this time, one charged her throwing himself ontop of her, while another ran off, and the other two battled Raykine.
"Why do you fight? Why don't you come to my hut where I can show you my nice new sword?" the bandit asked.
"Thanks for the innuendo, but that won't be necessary," she said and swung her scimitar at him. He disarmed her and spun behind her, locking his arm around her throat. How the hell did that happen? she thought to herself.
"You! Demon! Look what I've got! You just killed all my men, now I'm going to kill your woman," he said and brought his sword up to her throat, readying to slice.
