"So, my suspicions were correct. You're never one to pass out on free troops. Simple plan, use the abominations to attack humans, and then kill off the abominations after the foul deeds are done." Erik glared at Krious. Killing off any mercenaries he hired was a trademark of his. Krious laughed. "You know me to well, Erik! If you figured this out so quickly, then I really need to change my style-oh wait! I don't have to! What will you do about it? Rally the common people? Gather an army of corn-fed country folk? Even if you managed to beat back the first wave, you'd still have me to face." Erik rolled his eyes. Here was Krious, always thinking he was some kind of God. But, as Erik once told Krious, even Gods can fall.

Hagedis eyed the two scenes coldly. In one corner of the bar two men were quietly whispering death-threats, in another several abominations were causing a commotion.

Mentally Gedis swore, people were so obvious when they were angry.

From the corner of her eye she examined Alice, she seemed sweet and simple, from the countryside without a doubt. Somehow she felt protective of this meek child.

Hagedis downed the coffee in one go and popped the mint into her mouth. "We should probably leave, things will turn foul here soon."

She walked towards the door, not looking to see if Alice would follow. However two men blocked her way. She grimaced, these were big ugly men, stone drunk and sluggish.

"Wossa pretty lady like you leaving so early for?"

Gedis pulled her face into her coat, her eyes and face in shadow. Anger and frustration flared within her. How dearly she wanted to bite these men. Instead she bit her mint, it's crunch crunch strangely loud and ominous.

Erik hated it when Krious started laughing maniacally. The only way to stop him was to stick him with a sword. Which Erik did. Krious backed off, covering the stab wound with his hand. Erik pointed the now bloodstained blade at Krious. "Leave this town, or I will show no mercy." Krious laughed, but stopped when Erik's grip on the blade tightened. "Do you really think you can beat me? Look around! You're stranded in a foreign land! You have no backup, no allies, where I have an entire army at my back!" Erik smiled. "And let's not forget how easy I rip through your supposedly undefeatable army." "Oh, make no mistake Erik, standing alone is no way to go." Erik smiled even broader. "I wouldn't say I'm alone." Krious gave Erik an inquisitive look. "And who are your allies?" "The same as yours, Krious. The so-called abominations." Krious laughed. "They hate humanity! How on Earth will you get them to fight for the people who hate them?!" Erik shrugged. "I'm not asking them to fight for all of humanity, I ask them to fight for themselves. You may promise better lives for them, but you always go back on your word. You want them to die. But I want them to live. You have lost faith in the good of humanity, but I have seen that anything can change in the blink of an eye."

The man, who had not really been paying much attention at all jumped up in pain, yelping, knocking the a drink out of his friend's hand. "Oi, you stupid girl, you just wait, I'll have what's coming to you!" he roared in a drunken slur, throwing a punch towards the girl, but rather, missing completely and socking his friend in the face, who was now jumping up and down and clutching the right side of his face in pain.

Although Serena had found it all rather comedic, she found herself rising to the side of the man who had not yet been hurt... Maybe irritated that his drink was now gone, but nothing more. It was strange, but for her size, she was able to grab the man around the neck, one of her many daggers now pulled out, sharp point held mere inches away from his throat. "You don't call my brother a chump... And don't hit on girls just because they're dressed, perhaps, like me. I'm not looking for any..." she said in his ear, a harsh and threatening whisper before she extended her pointer and middle finger and squeezed, moving before the man's body fell limp before her.

Nathan roared with laughter, watching it all happen. "Brilliant, Serena... But insanely scary. I hope I never anger you," he said as he stood up, the man who was in pain now off to the side, shooting them mere side glances, but nothing more. "Oi, you... Better come haul your friend off the ground," he said, casually stepping over his body and moving over to the girl who had stepped on the other man's foot. "Thanks, eh? I'm sure if you hadn't done it, Serena mighta killed both of 'em," he joked and smiled, holding out his hand... "The name's Nathan... That's my sister, Serena," he said.

Serena stuck her tongue out at her brother. "Hmph, they should just watch who they mess with is all..." she said softly, also stepping over the man to introduce herself. "So, miss, what be your name, hm?" she asked curiously, her golden eyes hidden beneath her hood, but reflecting, gently, the dim lights that hung about the tavern.

Alice followed closely behind the woman only to gasp when their way was blocked by the very tall men. She glanced around and then looked up at Hagedis for guidance. She did not want anyone to get hurt. It was very clear that if they did not move they would be in horrible pain. "Excuse us, but we must be leavening now." She said quietly and stood at the woman's side with her head held high, and her sun hat perched daintily on her head.

From the depths of her coat Gedis considered her options. She could just bolt past the two drunks, but that would leave poor Alice. She could follow her instincts and attack, but she really didn't feel like fire and pitchforks. Or she could wing it.

"Mr, please leave me be. I have a family to return to, and I'm sure this one does too."

The man on the right grinned stupidly. "One night won't hurt I'm sure.." he slurred, spreading his hands and blocking any hope of escape.

"Whas with the stupid hat on this one anyway?" burbled the other, reaching towards Alice. Gedis shifted her stance slightly and started licking her fingers compulsively.

Alice cringed as the man took the hat from her head, revealing her horns and ears. She felt like crying but knew it would do no good. "May I please have that back now?" She asked in as commanding a voice as she could muster. She wanted to run and hid, but maybe that would be too intoxicated to notice the things sticking out of her skull. Her eyes watered slightly and she shifted he weight back.

The men blinked stupidly, their piggish eyes filled with confusion- then rage. "Youse an Abomination!" One screamed as the other flailed wildly trying to scare her away.

Hagedis grabbed the flailing man's arm just as he was about to hit her. The man's struggles abruptly stopped as she sank her newly formed claws into him. Already Gedis could feel the pricking of scales emerging from her arms. Her eyes met the man's and he was trapped under her golden gaze.

"Give the nice girl her hat back." she growled through pointed teeth. "And we'll just leave so no one gets hurt."

((Raargh! I had a super awesome post and then my cat walked over my keyboard and paged back and when I paged back to this one all my stuff was gone! >w< She must secretly hate me. This is like the third she's done it this month. Oh, sorry I wasn't here last night, I would be, but I started puking my guts out, and my parents made me go to bed. In the middle of doing chores.))

Paania's ears flattened as the scene grew intensively scarier, though her facial expression did not change. They sat up when the boy approached her. He didn't seem to be upset with her for starting a fight, and neither did the girl. "Paania. Sorry about that, I think his foot may be broken. That certainly looks broken." She took the boy's hand, his hand much larger than her own. When she withdrew, her eyes turned toward the commotion at the door. "What is it today with drunks? Usually they hit on you, then stumble off when you threaten to kick them in the beanbag. It's not that hard, too often. Something must be going on. Or these people don't have half the common sense they need."

"You belong in hell, Erik" Krious was indeed pissed off. Erik laughed. "Sorry, but I'm still right here, standing before you." Krious stormed off. Erik sheathed his blade. He heard someone yell something about an abomination. Great. Here we go again.
Just what he needed. A couple of drunkies hitting on an abomination, only to become sober for long enough to alert God and everybody to what's going on. Erik decided to hide in an alleyway facing the bar. He was curious to see what would happen, the yell was loud enough to alert the town, and if a mob started forming...Erik shook it off. Nothing to bad would happen...hopefully.

Anna's eyes glazed over as she stared hungrily at the drunks bothering the abominations.

"No, Anna! No. N-" It was worthless, Gwen knew, as soon as she saw her sister bolt for the door, her eyes splitting into their compound form.

Anna was standing next to one quickly, her tongue extending into the neck flesh of the one holding the hat. His eyes rolled into his skull, and his grip on the hat loosened as his skin went a pale, bloodless white. As she was jerked back, her tongue was pulled from him and collapsed onto the floor, gasping. Anna convulsed, writhing in her sisters arms, then went limp and still.

Gwen held onto Anna as she thrashed, then held her bridal style as her eyes closed and she dropped into a REM cycle. "You might want to pick up your hat, girlie. He's still alive, and he may or may not stay that way. Good day." And with that, she walked past the girls and out the door, helping Anna down as she awoke, and holding her up as her sister stumbled almost drunkenly away with her.

((BUMPITYBUMPBUMPBUMP!))

"Oh, man. Why do i get the feeling that something bad just happened?" Erik was paranoid, but he had good reason to: His bad feelings were usually followed by bad events. Deciding to follow the two girls that just stumbled out of the bar, Erik slipped between shadows with ease. Erik rolled his eyes. When would people realize that a bunch of lights don't make an adequate security system?
