When you're wearing Rings with high CL you're drop rate drops on the easiest monsters. So taking off you're high CL rings and putting on low CL rings when you kill them will increase there drop again.
I think that may be worded right, feel free to switch it up a bit.
This has helped me because I tried progressing to fast on my own only leveling like two rings to play with. But I got to Zen and started getting owned- No drops from gnomes and all that cal. So I just use lower leveled rings to farm orbs from cannons and what not trying to fix my past wrongs.

When using the scardy cat ring and having a ring with a high CL enimies are less scared and will not run away.
