Kayne nodded as Kira spoke. There was something about the way she was acting that bothered him, but not enough to voice. Pushing the thought to the back of his mind to mull over later, he returned to the brainstorming at hand.
"Hmm . . . yes, I thought that way too. The prints I discovered on the beach appear to be those of creatures never seen before, but they have similarities to the tracks of those we find on Earth. I have a memory hole between the briefing and arriving upon this beach, so the sudden change of scenery fortifies that we are indeed in something . . . well, the best way I can describe it is something quite close to virtual reality; the Matrix is something that consistently recurred in my thoughts." Kayne's expression changed, becoming serious, pensive. "One issue in particular has bothered me as well . . . the absence of 'Non-Player Characters'. If this is indeed a game, and a Massive Multi-player Online system, there should be multiple ones scattered throughout the area where the newcomers arrive . . . unless, of course, this isn't where newcomers are supposed to arrive . . ."
Still pensive, he began to scrawl upon the sand. Numbers, symbols, coding text appeared where his finger touched, and all the while, Kayne mumbled to himself.
"The spawning codes for first-timers might have been replaced by a code for an entirely different zone . . . in which case, this might be one of the oasis 'maps' within a large 'dungeon'. We would be considered first timers; this game is still in its beta stage, after all, and thus would have no previous 'save data' encoded in for each of us. So that would mean . . . either the developers accidently wrote the wrong co-ordinates in, or there's something wrong with the game itself." He grimaced. "Either hypothesis doesn't comfort me in the least."
((BAM! Wall of text. xD))

Catching on to Kira's passive-aggressive nature, he resigned himself to the fact that he would have to speak fast or not speak at all. "The code was disrupted." He said, after Kayne's analysis. "The players were to arrive on a passenger cruise, enter the nearby town, and when they left town the ship would be gone. I don't see a ship or town around here." He punctuated his thought by looking around. It was times like these Shin was thankful he had a selective memory and that he wasted days looking for any and all info he could about this game. "The code could have sent us to the wrong beach, or just had some parts modified."

Kira nodded and looked at the ocean. The intense look in her eyes revealed that she was concentrating. This place gave her the creeps. It felt so.... alive...
She had never heard of software this sophisticated. Surely it would be every where.... Unless it was top secret and they were the lab rats. that was a disconcerting thought.
"Maybe that was all a facade to get us interested." She said softly. "What if this is something bigger than any of us guess? How did we get into this 'game' exactly? I don't remember that part at all. Maybe the matrix idea is not far off."
She wondered why they did not have weapons. Didn't most games start out with a basic weapon of some sort? Why were they in their real appearance? Did not most games have avatars of some sort?
This was all very disconcerting and Kira wished she had never decided to do this. If only she were at home in her lonely room doing homework or something.
Suddenly her stomach complained loudly reminding her she had not eaten in a while. "Since when do you need to worry about bodily functions in a game?" She asked in frustration. Then she blushed. If you had to eat you had to defecate. If you had to do those two things why wouldn't other bodily functions work too? Oh no... what was she going to do? She was here with two guys how could they understand? She did not have anything with her either.....
She decided to think about that when the time came. Luckily it should not be very soon...
She noticed a figure coming towards them... he had a knife. She cast around for something that could be used as a weapon and scooped up a handful of pebbles. she could throw very well having played sports most of her life. She knew she could hit him, but that would be nothing more than a distraction. she hoped it did not come to that.

Kayne nodded as Shin spoke.
"Ah, yes . . . now that you mention it, I do vaguely remember them laying out how it would be for us once we began . . ."
As Kira's stomach complained, he smiled slightly. The smile quickly turned into a frown as his thoughts began to run parallel with hers. Oh dear . . . that could be a problem. From her expression, he could tell she was worried, and pitied her. Poor girl, stuck with two strangers, and both of us guys, of all things. This could become a bit of a problem . . . They'd have to arrange ways so as to keep modesty and privacy. The last thing Kayne wanted to see was the bodies of women, even ones as pretty as Kira.
Pushing the troublesome thought out of his mind, he was about to suggest they look for food when he noticed the girl's gaze avert somewhere beyond them. Instinctively he wiped the sand clean of his calculations as he whipped around to see who it was. The glint of a blade flashed in the man's hand. Great, he grimaced. Unwelcome company.
He noticed Kira's hand grasp up a handful of pebbles and knew her self-defense was kicking in. He wasn't sure how good of a shot she was, but doubt was never something you gave someone. Especially if they're to be your comrades for what seemed like a long, long time.
"Down, Miss Kira," Kayne whispered to his only female companion. "Perhaps some diplomacy will solve this." Standing up, he brushed himself off and stepped towards the man, just enough so that Shin and Kira were behind him. "Ho!" he called, as amiably as possible. "What's your business here, good sir?"
((Threadmistress Faery, is it alright if I make another beta-tester? I'm hoping to balance out the gender ratio.))

Shin, obviously being the most offensively minded of the trio, instinctively clenched his right fist and shifted his left foot forward. He didn't want to make enemies in this new world, but if worst came to worse he should be able to overtake the stranger with Kira's distraction and Kayne's help. He waited for Kayne to get a response; it didn't seem wise to assault the new comer with multiple salutes.

Kynum finally reached conversation range, the tails of his robe undulating in the heavy shore-wind. He heard one of the three newcomers greet him rather formally. "Greetings, friend. However it should be I who questions you about thine business." Kynum was careful not to remove his hand from his blade hilt. "You seem, from your clothes, not to be from the area, so that means you're trespassing on royal land...Who are you people? Pirates are not tolerated here."

((Aleyn you certainly may. Any of you can. I probably will along with creating a few NPCs permanent and non.... this place needs more people... I will have to collaborate with the ones in existence. I like the trespassing on royal grounds bit, but I think this place needs to grow a face.))
Kira sighed in relief and dropped her hand full of pebbles. "We aren't pirates good sir." She said kindly. "And we don't exactly know where we are... Or how we got here... where ever here may be."
Trespassing on royal grounds hmm? It sounded as though they had been dropped into some medieval kingdom... She wondered if this guy would help them. He seemed kind enough despite the knife.
She glanced at Shin and smiled slightly. His reaction had been a bit similar to hers. Though he might have ore of a chance of taking him out. She was stronger than she looked, but the guy had a weapon and she was bare handed. She was not about to bring her fists to a knife fight.

Kayne heard the short exchange between the stranger and Kira, and relaxed slightly. Two emotions flared momentarily within him: the first was relief, that the stranger didn't seem to be an enemy; and apprehension. Trespassing upon royal lands was, as he remembered from his books, a serious offense. Good call, Miss Kira, he thought. Explaining to him. Last I checked, the Medieval Ages abhorred harming women.
"It's as the maiden says, sir," Kayne vouched for Kira, this time in a more subdued manner. "We awoke upon this shore with no memory of how we came to be here. Pray, good sir, would you be so kind as to tell us where this is?"
((Okee-dokee. Thank you, Threadmistress.))

Ailis finished her freespirit song and wolf howled again, tilting her head back so that amber strands of feathery fire fell back from her closed eyes. She sighed and knew then, she should be at the beach. But the forest was surely beautiful, and it brought her comfort that she wasn't sure why she needed. Nevertheless, she knew the testers had woken already, and her cue was approaching. She brought her hand in and out of her bag, replacing the flute and bringing forth salve and gauze. Considering the medium-high degree of bleeding, Ailis could only work a bandage that would last a few hours. She set off with a song on her lips, despite her circumstances, because she was about to meet the well-heard-of testers.
Ailis reached the beach soon, but not too soon, due to the leg slowing her down. With a silent vow that she would track down whoevergashed her open, Ailis listened. *Aye, there's my fun.* She said when her foxish ears picked up voices not to far from her position. *A'ight, well...here I go then.* She raised her hand to the dangling vines draped across the branches above. Two decended, seemingly on thier own mindset, and caught her up with one around her arm and the other around her waist. The vines lifted her to the forest canopy.
From there she tree-hopped, leaping from branch to branch until she came to four figures on the shore. She stopped, nestled in the branches of a strong pine, and stood with one thumb hooked casually in her belt and the other draped across an above branch.
*Aye, you there! The foursome at the Whiteline!* She called to them, using her pack's name for the coast. *How fare ye, and to be speaking more to the point, what's being your business on the Dragon's Rocks?*
((mind if i put a sea dragon there? or should i edit?))

While he could get used to it Kynum confused as to why everyone was calling him 'good sir'. He looked behind himself and to the left and right looking for some nobility that they were actually talking to, but it was just him around. He looked back at them. "Well, since you seem not to know, this land is Almalexia. You say you woke up here? That's...interesting. Methinks you've all been having a bit too much fun with the vices, eh?

Kynum heard a voice call over to all of them, calling them a foursome, and snapped his head back to see where it had come from. What the deuce?!...The forest seemed to be talking to him! Kynum had heard of stories of wizards and warriors of old that had conversed with the forest and the earth, but he never believed that it would happen to him!. He knew some useful tidbits about the forest, but it never honored him with a conversation. He bowed to the forest. "Oh, great forest! It is an honor!"

By his regal dress and manner of speaking, Shin assumed this man was a royal guard. He seemed amicable enough, but he would have to be careful now. Trespassing on royal grounds could raise suspicions and possibly weapons. Just as he was getting ready to speak, he heard the voice call out from the nearby forget. 'Great.' He thought to himself. 'Middle ages and magic.' He decided to be the first to move and took a few steps towards the forest. "Three of us are lost, spirit of the forest!" He called out, from a safe distance. "Our only business is to determine our whereabouts and find shelter!"
