in case you haven't noticed, society has a double standard. whites are racist if they express intolerance or even mild annoyance with someone of different ethnicity, but the same attitudes (and even outright hatred) when expressed towards whites is not racism but justified anger. because, yknow, obviously we're responsible for what europeans from the past have said and done.

sorry, crushing cynicism is leaking from my pores AGAIN. but seriously, why cant people just view each other as human beings? batt here is not a black man, he is a man. i am not a white man, i am a man. why does everyone have to try and assign some racial identity to us?

and why dont they make band-aids that match something other than a european skin tone? that's pretty racist too...

and yeah, i know that i'm rambling, and that these thoughts are only marginally connected at best but deal with it lol

well that's not exactly what i'm saying... i'm saying why do races need clubs? why do we split everyone into races? we're all human beings, damn it.

Define "heritage." Heritage to me means ethnicity. If Mega said he was going to celebrate his heritage, I'd assume that he was taking a trip to Scotland or going to a Scot folk festival.

Then I'm not quite sure what you mean. There are German, Irish, Scottish, Polish, Swedish, etc. festivals all the time in my city, and there's nothing racist about those. "Proud of my heritage" is a dirty phrase because it's a favorite of Aryan bigots being proud of their supposed racial superiority. The question is more complicated with black organizations because race and ethnicity are unfairly muddled in that case.

once again, people are misunderstanding what i'm saying. there is no "white" or "black" or "latin" or "asian" culture that everone of those races fits in, because those races are made up of MANY different cultures. yes, we can have a scots club or a latino club or a black union or whatever to celebrate our heritage, but in mainstream society - especially american society - there is no need to talk about "african-americans" and "latin-americans" and "asian-americans." we are all HUMAN, we are all AMERICANS, that is where it ENDS. or at least, that's where it should end.

I don't like being PC, and I hope never to be thought of as PC.

If I offend anyone, I hope they are mature enough to take a little criticism or tell me they felt offended so I can apologize, otherwise I'm glad I offended such a week soul who must clearly of been sheltered there whole life. Life is cruel, deal with it.

um... i laugh when i get called cracker. i also laugh when i get called ***** (which has happened, believe it or not).

and the reason for the switch from hispanic to latino actually makes sense to me. hispanic only refers to people of spanish descent (most of latin america). but brazilians are of portuguese descent, and calling them hispanic insults them by assuming they're spanish. so calling people from latin countries latino actually makes a little more sense. except for the fact that they're not latino, they're human beings, dammit. labels such as latino, i find, are really nothing more than stereotypes, and no one IS the stereotype of their people.

that also makes me laugh. i think of "hankey" every time i hear it.
