C.S. Lewis wrote an incredible book called "out of the silent planet". I encourage anyone who enjoys c.s. lewis, fantasy, or sci fi to check it out.
Other favorite writers include Anne Rice ( whom I have met ), Isaac Asimov, and various big time nerdy science FACT writers. I read a lot of books about space travel and science ... the kind that make my brain hurt.

My favorite books are usually stuck in one genre: Paranormal Romances XD
-The Sookie Stackhouse/Southern Vampire Series by Charlaine Harris (8 books so far. 9th comes out in May 09. I don't think I can wait that long though XDD) - The Real Vampires Series by Gerry Bartlett (3 books are officially released. Some places have released the 4th already, though... whcih i've purchased and read in one night XD) - The Undead Series by MaryJanice Davidson (I'm a few books behind though OnO) - More that I can't think of.
People all around me (Especially women) keep going on and on about Twilight-- both the books and the movie. I haven't read or seen either. I'm not that big on Teenage Ramonaces, but I was wondering if I should spend the probably almost 3 hours watching the movie, or the 10+ hours reading each book.

I do not normally read multiple books by the same author due to the limited size of my city's library. However, I especially enjoy Scott Westerfeld, Thomas Harris, and Markus Zusak. I'm sure there are quite a bit more, of course.
My favorite books are just about every book I have read of Westerfeld's, though I especially enjoyed Midnighters and Peeps. Harris's Silence of the Lambs was really good, but might I say I probably enjoyed Red Dragon More? Hannibal was alright, and I lost interest by Hannibal Rising.
I really enjoyed The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, and it is one of my favorite books of all time. At first, however, The Messenger by Zusak bored me. I never got past the first few pages. Then I decided to push on through and really, really enjoyed it.
I also really liked Otherworldies by Jennifier Ann Kogler. I hope she continues it.
The series by Tiffany Trent is also really good, but it is beginning to bore me after book three.
Taken, by Edward Bloor is my favorite book. I wanted it to go on forever.
However, Elsewhere, by Gabrielle Zevin gave me more nightmares than any normal book should. o_O

I've unfortunately not read as much recently as I used to in high school, but I still manage to keep up with some of my favorite authors from time to time. I have a taste for unique science fiction, (i.e. no Tolkien knockoffs) and in particular I love His Dark Materials, the Abhorsen trilogy, and the Keys to the Kingdom series. My favorite author is probably Garth Nix.

I don't read much anymore either. I really have to get my lamp fixed, is why!
But when I did... well, my favorite writer is William Burroughs. I like 'The Western Lands' and 'the Cat Inside' most of all. I like Clive Barker- 'Weaveworld' and 'the Thief of Always' are faves. Stephen King- but then who doesn't? 'Pet Sematery', 'Needful Things' and 'the Shining' are all great, but then so is 'The Stand' and 'It'.
heheheh. I like Stephen king.
Let's see, anyways, I read a lot of Chuck Palahnuik. 'Fight Club' obviously, but I also like 'Lullabye' a lot.
Mercedes Lackey. I particularly liked the Last Herald-Mage series, and the Diana Tregarde stuff.
early Poppy Z Brite. I love 'Lost Souls' even if she no longer does. Her collection of short stories was cool- 'Swamp Foetus' was it called? and her book that's in 'The Crow' series, 'Lazarus Heart'. I even kinda liked her book about Courtney Love.
The earlier books of Anne Rice's vampire series were fun. It dragged on too long and really jumped the shark when she had Lestat meet Jesus, but hey, some authors never know when to call it quits.
Of course I've read all the Harry Potter books. Am I the only one who found the ending anticlimactic? The only good chapter in the last one was the one about Snape!
I like Roger Zelazny, but not his Amber series.
Terry Pratchett is hysterical.
Anything by Lydia Lunch is amazing and unsettling.
I like a lot of those old REsearch books from the late 80s/early 90s. They covered some weird topics and have a lot of cool interviews in them.
The Foxfire series will tell you anything you need to know to get back to living on the land.
and laugh if you like, but I'm still reading the Bible. They say it takes a whole lifetime to figure out what the heck that book is about....
