Grinch sighed, looking up a moment to where he knew his den was, then followed Aidan and layed down, "Alright, for just a little while." He muttered.
But he wouldn't even fight Aidan snuggling up next to him. Having to deal with a new lion---and a cub at that---had exhausted Grinch more than he would have ever admitted.

Now, the pair went off again, Grinch toting Aidan until they come upon another lady, by the name of Maleah. Let's watch. =====

Grinch had woken before Aidan, and gone to catch something for them to eat. The sun was setting now, and he took the cub out to go find a lioness.
It was well after dark before they came open the grey-colored lioness out getting a drink of water.
"Evening, ma'am! My name is Grinch. I, uh, have a problem and was wondering if you could help me..." Grinch had put Aidan down for a moment and now picked him up and put him by Maleah, "This tyke is lost. Are you his mama?"
Maleah jumped a little at the sudden voice, then blinked in surprise as the baby was put by her paw. She took a step back, then bent down to lick his fur down, stuck up from all day of being toted by the other lion, "I've not had cubs. You're lost? Poor darling, how lucky to have found someone that will help you and not hurt you! What is your name?"
She nuzzled Aidan. Heh, he was cute.

Aidan blinks, waking up when he is put down next to the lioness's paw. He looks up and smiles sleepily. "Hi..." He looks around and spots Grinch, then stretches. "My name's Aidan...i lost my mama..."
He sits up and looks at Maleah, more awake now. "He's my papa though, so i'm not scared. He's real nice. He even taught me how to sneak up on frogs without fallin' in the mud."

"Your papa?" Maleah asked, surprised, "Then why don't you take care of him, and how come you don't know the mother?" She demanded of Grinch.
"I am not his papa, his brain is rattled! Found him today and am trying to find someone that can take care of him, because I can't! I cannot take care of a cub, I cannot do it, I live too high."
"You could take care of him here, or go down to the plains where he'd have friends. If he likes you, you should." She nuzzled the cub again. "Poor darling."
"I cannot take care of him in the plains. I cannot take care of him here or there, I cannot take care of him anywhere! I am not his pa, don't you see? I am not a pa, but he just won't let me be."
"Uhm, 'kay. Well, I'm not a mom either, don't YOU see that?" Maleah blinked at Grinch's sudden outbreak of rhyme, "Well, you want a papa? I bet we can find you a papa if that's what you want." She smiled at Aidan, "Down in the plains, there are lots of nice lions.

Aidan purrs when the lioness nuzzles him. When she mentions another lion though, he backs away, tail between his legs. "He's my papa! I don't want another papa!"
He runs over to Grinch and hides behind his legs, peeking out as tears roll down his face. "He's my papa...i'm not gonna lose him like i lost my mama!!!" He wraps his paws around Grinch's legs tightly.
"Don't take me away or i'll run back to him..." He lets out a pathetic little growl.

"Oh, darling! I am so sorry! I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. You poor thing." She looked down at Aidan. She looked up to Grinch, hissing very lowly, "You monster, trying to get rid of your own kid? Hasn't he been through enough?"
"I'm not his pa!" Grinch protested, lifting his paw up from Aidan, "Aidan...we're trying to find you a mother, remember? Let go, you'll fall." He snorted and let his paw very low to the ground then shook it a bit.
"How could you deny him!"
"I am not bad, but life can be sad, and this Aidan cannot live in my den."
Maleah rolled her eyes. Bother!

Aidan holds onto Grinch's paw as long as he can. After a few shakes he loses his grip landing on his rump. He looks up at the big green lion and starts to cry. "I don't want a mama if your gonna leave me!!!"
He runs around behind the big lion and uses his tail as a rope, climbing up onto his back. "If you want me gone...then knock me off your back. If you do then i'm gonna go off on my own. Your the only papa I want!!!" He holds onto Grinch's mane as he continues to cry.
"Please don't make me go...I love you papa....your the greatest papa in the whole wide world..."

Grinch whisked his tail back in irritation as the cub climbed up then clung on to his mane. Of course he wasn't just going to roll the baby off of him, but he sure would like to get rid of him, "But I'm not your pa! You cannot live alone. You are only a cub!"
Maleah's ears were flattened at this point, "Denying your own son! What a coward and fool and terrible lion you are!" She hissed, "I don't believe you. That poor baby. Oh, darling, there is so much better out there for you than...than....this stinking, stanking, stunking....stinkified...fiend..." She glared, "Arsenic-filled heart ten sizes too small!"
Well, that struck a chord. That was what he had been, it wasn't what he was meant to be. But... He snorted, "A cub needs a mum, and I am no mum. I'm not even a pa. I cannot do that job, I cannot." He both sneered and looked defeated, then shook his head a little, "Stop crying."
"Poor little cub." Maleah cooed a little, rounding about to sniff at Aidan, "You poor, poor...Oh! Don't let this monster break your heart. I could be your Mom." She nuzzled at Aidan, being very careful not to touch Grinch.
"See there? We found you a mom." Grinch's voice edged on hopeful now.

Aidan just tightens his grip looking at the lioness moving closer to him. "If your my mama...my papa will leave...please don't make me lose him..." He looks at her pleadingly, not wanting to move from atop Grinch's back.
Hearing the big lion tell him not to cry helped him to calm down. "Ok papa...i..i won't cry no more..." He stops crying but does not budge. "If papa leaves...i leave too..."

"You have such a good boy," Maleah muttered, "Why get rid of him? He does what you ask, and he loves you...How could you do this?"
"I'm not his pa." Grinch was defeated sounding now. Well, THIS one wasn't going to do, that was obvious now. He shook his head, "Nevermind, I"ll find him a different mother."
Maleah made a face, "What did you do with the first one?"
"Well, obviously she was as good as I am!" Grinch growled now, "Apparently abandoned him as well--Uh..I'm not abandoning him though, I'm finding him the very perfect mother there ever was, so that he can be the happiest, healthiest and safest cub there ever was!"
Maleah looked upwards in frustration. This lion!

Aidan smiles brightly and manuevers himself so he can lick Grinch's nose. "Thank you papa. I knew you wouldn't leave me." He sits up on the big lion's back and faces the lioness.
"Your real nice ya know? I'd love for ya to be my mama, but i'm stickin' with my papa. He saved my life." He smiles and puffs his chest proudly. "He's the biggest strongest papa in the whole world!" He leans over and licks the lioness's nose, but loses his balance and flops down hard onto his stomach. "Ow!"
He blinks and rolls to his back rubbing his tummy. "Sorry...i'm clumsy still..."

"Ugh...eh..Cub!"
Maleah and Grinch leaned down together to pick him up off his back, and ended up smacking each other in the head.
"Watch what you're doing!" Grinch shoved Maleah away a bit to pick Aidan up and put him back on his feet, "That goes for both of you!"
Maleah shook her head, gaining an inkling of understanding about this strange male, "Right. You two go along then..."
"You don't want him?"
"It would seem that if I would be his mother, you would have to be the father, and we'd have to stay together, so no!" Maleah laughed a bit.
Grinch grumped a bit, running a paw to Aidan, pushing just hard enough to knock him over again, but not so much as to hurt him. Ugh, cubs!

"It's not my fault i fell...and it's not her fault you two hit your heads...both were accidents." Aidan gets up, only to be knocked backwards onto his back again. "Hey! I'm not a toy papa!" He rolls over and runs to a little hill, his back to both the lion and lioness, tired of being pushed and yelled at.
"If i only have my papa i'm gonna be happy. So i don't care if we have to leave." He frowns refusing to look at either of them, obviously upset.

Grinch sighed and picked Aidan up again, "Comff on." He muttered.
It was getting late, but maybe before they stopped for the night they would find someone else.
Maleah shook her head. What a strange pair!! Well, she wished them luck...She couldn't go on worrying about everyone she came across. Maleah turned to go find a place to rest herself.
