Quentin adjusted the lapel of his jacket for the umpteenth time. There hadn't been time to badger his employer for money to buy a new suit and get it tailored properly. The sleeves were a bit too long, and all he could do was pull on them anxiously, hoping Norman wasn't a stickler for fashion. He tightened the tie on his curly black hair, smoothing it back in the ponytail. It made him look a bit more professional, supposedly, though he kept the tendrils of his bangs loose to cover his pointed ear. The demon didn't want to frighten the kiddies before he got the chance to talk with them.

Though if any of them were, how to say, biased they were in for a rude awakening from some of their peers. But he didn't want to step out on the wrong foot; he was sure this school educated agreeable children. Mr. Bandersnatch put on a smile, trusting it didn't look too feral, and entered the expansive auditorium. His sharp green eyes found the Headmaster rather easily and kept looking, not wanting to disturb their chat.

Oh and wasn't this just a sight for sore eyes. The young boy's reputation preceded him even if he didn't realize. Actually he probably did. He felt bad for any teacher who was interrogated by Scyeth. It seemed best to just take a stroll through the booths, smiling at every face until he could find a student to talk with. Ugh, gaggles of youth made him feel so old.

Sasha wandered through the auditorium with obvious discomfort. He didn't exactly enjoy being thrust into a pile of strangers, especially strange teachers who seemed ready to pounce on students. And--oh dear lord what was that?! The man was a mountain of tasteless plaid and army regalia. He adverted his eyes as fast as he could, walking that much faster in hopes he wouldn't be noticed.

This was horrible!

No, you're the one still doing it.

Naturally Micajah didn't respond that particular feeling aloud, as he was not that much in a mood for a verbal argument despite how he may have come across. His voice did ache, he wanted to remind himself of that many a time as his challenging words came out in a harsh whisper that seemed to imitate broken plates. It was too rough for his young frame, even though his face was in just the same state of exhaustion.

"I'm not so much clever as I am trained to speak to others. You'll find this to be a very common trait among many of us here as you make your rounds. I think there are very few who are at a loss for things to say, probably more than a few with too much, but the trouble for you will be finding who is who."

He smiled, that thin-lipped one that could only flicker across his features before being replaced with something else. It was as if that expression was merely a mirage, something that never occurred no matter how one said it did, and the youth himself would never confess. That would take away the fun.

"As for working with me, you'll find how it is when you can decide which type of person I am."

Well, this promised to be interesting. They were supposed to be getting some new teachers, and Zach had heard of this little event meant to allow students to meet them and such. Not having been to many classes anyway... he was kind of hoping having new teachers would make it easier to do so.

He just couldn't get used to the idea of them basically teaching themselves. It was weird.

Sighing slightly, he glanced around, wondering if he should go up and just start talking to someone, or what. He spotted a couple of people he knew, but both were already in conversations of their own. So finally he settled for wandering over to the refreshments and picking at them while keeping an eye out for anyone who might try to talk to him.

---------------------------

A few minutes later, Ka'hmesh also came into the room, looking around curiously. He wondered if Far might show up too, but he didn't really know what the other was up to right now. So maybe not... Ah well.

In any case, it was important to see prospective new teachers, so here he was.

Wandering around for a few minutes, he saw various students talking to the newcomers and eyes widened slightly at one - dressed in an ill-fitting suit and with pointed ears. An elf..? No ... not an elf. Demon, then? How... interesting.

Head tilting just a bit, Ka moved to approach Quentin with a faint smile. "Welcome to Shinkami. I'm Ka'hmesh," he said, holding a hand out toward the other.

Micajah had already given Gideon a lot to think about, and he wasn't even a part of the school. That was a feeling that the older male relished. He'd been bored a long time. Grinning briefly, he gave the student a quick nod.

"Well played. Well spoken, as you have said already." A pause. "Thank you for the fascinating conversation, you've given me much to consider."

Skittering through the throngs of potential teachers and curious students, Nash was not in the mood to really mingle. He had opted to show himself just in case he spotted someone of familiarity. Truth be told he hoped one of the potentials was someone close to him, maybe using this open house to see him. His outward appearance was that of a child searching, violet eyes darting left and right as he scanned the as much of the auditorium as he could.

As time passed his features took on a disappointed glaze. With a hefty sigh he finally made his way to the refreshments table, pouring himself some punch from the punch bowl. "He's not here..." he muttered dejectedly. Only vaguely did he notice another student [Zach] just off to his side looking around the room. He had yet to meet this one but wasn't sure how to begin conversation on his own. Nash ventured to tried, however, "Um.. hello." He looked away quickly scanning the room once more. "Have you talked to any of the potentials?" Okay so not the smoothest of opening responses but it was a start. At least he tried.

Seidus finished up his plate of refreshments, discarding his rubbish in the trash bin. He opted to just stand around but knew this wasn't the best course of action to take. He needed to understand the students, make decisions for himself if this was the right journey in his life to take. Besides what harm could there be in chatting with a few kids? He'd always wanted kids of his own right? This was just practice for the future in so many ways... Be observant, stay focused and just be honest.

Though he wasn't very observant when he clipped one of the students who seemed to be trying to avoid the whole event altogether. "Pardon." He murmured sailing clean past. Then he thought about it, shouldn't he be mingling? With an abrupt about-face he turned to the student plastering a decent smile (though more sneer then smile) as he tried introducing himself. "Shouldn't you be interroga- I mean collecting insight on the potential instructors?" Well interrogation was correct in his opinion but taking a glance at the tan skinned, purple haired runt [Sasha] he didn't think this one would be too much of a hassle... or challenge for that matter. His sneer melted into a liquid smile as he gave a curt bow at the waist. "My apologizes for bumping into you. I should probably watch where I'm going but do you mind if I steal a bit of your time? I'm curious about your school and what you hope to gain from it." Sugary enough? Seidus wanted to gag.

"I'm great, thanks. I'd ask how you're doing as well, but with an event like this under your command one can only imagine."

Noé smiled brightly and took the hand firmly, shaking it in the manner that his father had taught him - clap your hand on top so the other can't pull away and stab you. No wait, that didn't seem quite right, so Noé simply shook hands like a normal man and released. Shaking hands was getting to be too common of an event for him as of late, mostly with people that dealt in insurance and claims. He had to shake hands with a police officer too somewhere in there, if he could recall, and that guy had a weak grip.

"I must admit I've never seen such large grounds for a school, but isn't that what makes this place great? I didn't get much of a chance to look around since I was in a rush to get here, but if perhaps it's alright with you I would like a chance to poke around later. This place is simply too good to pass up."

He smiled again and rubbed his fingers through that mass of black hair again, a chuckle on his lips. He would have stepped over into a more comfortable standing position too if it hadn't been for the pants that seemed to be too fancy to actually move in.

The Headmaster smiled politely at the man's words, giving a singular nod of his head. "We cater to many walks of life, each student unique to their goals and dreams." Norman removed his monocle, cleaning it with the hanky in his vest pocket, considering the question before replying. "I would not mind in the least. Classes are in session, so it goes without saying to not disturb those learning today." He smiled, replacing the glass piece over a dark blue eye. "The students I've asked here today will answer any questions you have and undoubtably challenge you on some level."

Another slight and knowing smile graced his lips. Anyone could walk the grounds, but to impress his students, that would be more a challenge than any of the people in the room realized.

Quentin looked down and cracked a warm smile at the handsome student, his pointed ears flicking earnestly. He extended a hand readily, taking the young man's in a firm shake. "Thank you, Master Ka'hmesh is it?, it is very nice to meet you..." Mr. Bandersnatch folded his hands in front of him and studied the student with a gaze much like a cat watching a bird fluttering by its grasp. At least he wasn't going to eat him.

"Are you Arabic?" It was perhaps a sudden question, but he was fascinated with that hair color. "You have a dark complexion, but your hair is a remarkable shade..." He had seen some strange hair color in his many years, but on a human it was something that needed to be asked. Unless he dyed his hair.

Sasha didn't see it coming either. He was pushed back and almost toppled over. "Ehh--" He was going to apologize as well, but the man kept going which was fine with him, he didn't really want to talk. But life wasn't so kind as he whipped back around and walked toward him like a starving man stalking an injured animal.

His eyes bugged pathetically and if he wasn't so nervous, he probably would have bolted. Some challenging student. "U-Uhmmm ehh--s-sure that's fine..." What was he supposed to tell him? "My name's Alexander..." There was a start. "I'm uhmm going into magic..." And that was about all he could think of. He really didn't know what he wanted to get out of this school, he just followed his brother here like a dog.

((Just in case Master seems an odd choice, Master is used as the title of young men who are not yet considered Mr. My Latin teacher called my brother by master so that's the only reason I know this XD or if anyone has seen batman movies, Alfred always calls Bruce Wayne Master Bruce because he isn't married yet >__> SO THERE YA GO! 8D )

"That's true," said Siona reflectively. She'd seen some of the structures on her way in, and a few more as she'd carefully piled her cinnamon-brown hair on top of her head at a window before coming into the auditorium. "Two years? That's quite a while."

Pausing for a moment, she contemplated stepping away. It didn't seem likely that she'd get much further with Weiyuan, as interesting a puzzle as he seemed. After an unobtrusive glance around told her that many of the other students in the room seemed occupied, and the headmaster as well, she smiled and decided to continue to speak to this student. "I've applied for the position of defensive secretary. Which role do you intend to take in the science and technology school?"
"I suppose, but time seems to pass quickly here. But there's also enough time to make it feel like you're getting eough done in a day. "Weiyuan also glanced around, noticing the arrival of more students and prospective professors. The room was getting crowded fast enough and he wanted to see to other prospective teachers as well. He turned back to the woman, smiling a bit. "Defensive. I plan to become a doctor."

Sharp taupe eyes had landed on a blonde boy. For a moment he was talking with one of the boot lickers. The kid had spirit in him. A lot of spirit. Vigharthur moved away from the wall, treaded across the floor positioning himself into a closer proximity. The kid sounded annoyed. He glanced at the man that he was previously talking too. He'd get annoyed with a man like that too. He moved away, letting the boy come closer to him before approaching the student. "Soldier-in-training, eh? You seem quite small for a soldier. Are you sure?"
PostPosted: Thu Oct 23, 2008 6:19 pm

Zach blinked slightly and glanced over as another boy came up to the table and then muttered something under his breath. And though the brunette wondered, the other obviously wasn't talking to him, so he turned his attention back to picking at the food.

Until Nash actually did speak to him, that is. Then Zach turned and smiled slightly at the other. "Not yet. I just got here," he answered in a friendly sort of fashion. "What about you?" A small pause... "Oh. Uhm, sorry, I'm Zach," he offered a bit sheepishly, juggling plate to hold out a hand toward the other.

---------------------------

Ka didn't seem offended, though - if anything, slightly confused by how the other was addressing him, but that wasn't a big deal. It was just that, having grown up in America - and not in the best part of it - he hadn't really heard someone call a young man 'master' before.

But it was fairly clear by how the potential professor said it that it was some kind of formal address, so Ka chose to ignore that. "Half Arabic," he replied quietly. "Good guess. The other half is German..." Then he reached up and tugged at a lock of hair with a bit of a self-conscious smile. "This? It's dyed... but even naturally, it's almost white-blonde." He shrugged slightly - well-used to questions about his appearance and origins.

"What about you, Mr.....?" he trailed off as if waiting for a name. "Where is it you hail from?" In all honesty, Ka didn't know much about demons, and he was curious...

Gideon, without company, had headed to the refreshments table, seeking a beverage, only to spot Zach and Nash. Why not speak with them while they all were at the same place? He'd seen other potential teachers pick at the food, some of them doing so even before greeting anyone at all.

Opening a bottle of water, he took a long sip, casually speaking to them with a smile. It was nice that the three had other things to do, such as choose food. That would make it less awkward. He caught the last part of one of the boys' words.

"Zach, hmm? I'm Gideon Burdock, prospective head of magical research. What's your name?" He addressed Nash. "Would you two mind involving me in your conversation?" He grinned at the well-laden table. "This is a great spread. Do you always eat so well here?" One could hope so.

"Wouldn't dream of bothering them while they're actually trying to learn something useful. It's when they're feeling idle that I'd let them have a taste of what science can really do and become. We humans have such a stuck up idea of what we can do it's almost a little saddening...but that's beside the point. What matters now is actually getting someone to want to chat about it before trying it, or should it be more of the other way around?"

Noé gave off a good-natured grin as he followed his own gaze to the plethora of students that were slowly filtering their way in. He noticed most if not all had engaged with teachers already while some stood to the side. There was a woman here - not much of a surprise - and a man leaning against the wall wearing quite the stunning outfit (if he said so himself).

"Ah well, I don't want to take up much more of your time. Really just wanted to give my regards and a thanks for consideration no matter the outcomes, since it's hard to find anyone willing to talk to me after this latest incident. I hope we get a chance to talk more in the future, even if it's just about random things. Adeus, Senhor."

The Portuguese scientist gave a little tip of his head in respect to Norman and slowly moved away from his side, making his way down to throw his lot in the the youthful nature of the beasts.

The older man laughed amiably and nodded. "It is nice though. I have wanted to try dying my hair once, but I heard it smarts like a son of a b***h. And with black hair," He grabbed a loop of his own wavy hair and flicked it away, "... Yeah I am not that eager..." He shrugged casually and the sudden change on his face was almost amusing. He gawked most uncharacteristically and no doubt amusingly.

"Oh lord, I am sorry, yeah it would kind of help if you knew who I was... My name is Quentin... Bandersnatch...." He was almost reluctant to complete his name as it was unwillingly picked for him, and by goddess it was unseemly. "I am actually from China, surprising I imagine, but I have spent most of my long years employed in Australia. I am applying for the head of the magic division. And you, are you going into magic?"
PostPosted: Thu Oct 23, 2008 8:58 pm

Ka actually laughed softly at that. "It doesn't really ... only if your scalp is very sensitive." He eyed the other, though. "But you're probably right. With black hair, it would be difficult... you'd have to use bleach first."

And though he blinked at the other's name, Ka chose not to comment... there were some who would probably think his own name weird, so who was he to point fingers?

"Mm... I've been thinking about it. I started out thinking of going into Science, but.." he trailed off, not sure if he wanted to disclose the entirety of his reasons.

"Bah!" The demon barked with a flippant wave of his hand. "Magic is where it is at, let me tell you... Not that there is anything wrong with science, but meh..." He wrinkled his nose with comical distaste. He really didn't have anything against science, but if you couldn't pick petty fights with someone or something what was the point of living? "If I get hired, we will certainly talk more about it. We will find your niche, if you will, in magic... It will not be the easiest subject, but if it was easy what is the fun in that? Might as well be a doctor..." His humor was probably old and dry, but his lop-sided grin was bright, if not a bit wild.

He took a moment to let his olive green eyes scan the room in quick flutters. He found Norman was unattended. He looked back down at Ka'hmesh. "Would you like to continue talking with me and the Headmaster? I have not met him yet, and who better to help me introduce myself than a student, right? I would appreciate it..." He placed a hand right behind the young student's back, being mindful not to touch but simply to lead, finishing their grave discussion about hair dye. "Well the next time I have a midlife crisis, I will put my trust in your hair dying handy-work..."

"Headmaster Prinwaltz I presume? I am Quentin Bandersnatch. It is splendid to meet you finally..." He extended his hand to Norman. "And Master Kah'mesh has been nice enough to let me borrow some of his time..."
