Light, Ryuk, Shido, Matsu (sort of), near, mello, matt, and Teru.
i probably would not like death note that much or be so obssed if L wasn't there. he made the show funny. him and light. plus after he died it got a little boring.

masumi5 I probly wouldn't even watch the show. @_@ L was the reason i even started watching death note, if it wasn't 4 him, i don't think i'd even care what death note was, let alone watch it. but ummm i guess if i had to pick it'd be near 3nodding i think he's cute.

Mine would probably be light, misa, near, and matt.
persoanlly i think the show could work without L but he makes it funnier.

I don't think I would have watched it, because how I kind of got into the show was learning about L and finding some yaoi of him and Light while I was doing an innocent search... and then finally started watching it a few months later.
Otherwise I would have liked Mello and Matsuda the same as I do now.

Ryuk, Matsuda, and Near!
Ryuk is just plain awesome, Matsuda is totally funny, and Near is just like L, so I love him!
