You know, I've noticed that many of the figures show D frowning...I didn't realize he had facial expressions really. Kind of odd....these are, however, Badass

Felix B. Hellsings You know, I've noticed that many of the figures show D frowning...I didn't realize he had facial expressions really. Kind of odd....these are, however, Badass Yeah, the better figures and models do show him with his frown, as he's often described having in the novels. The 12" Doll actually looks pretty impressive outside of the box. The box cover image makes the figure look bulky and even a little misshapen. But once out of the box and in front of my camera (as crappy as my camera is) the doll really does look nice. His facial expression seems to change with each shot; maybe it's just the lighting? The first images I captured yesterday were on my Digital Video Camcorder and they are much brighter and clearer then these. However I couldn't find the S-Video adapter to plug the Video Camera into my computer to extract the images. So I dug out a crappier digital cam I have and set my doll up again; using a black curtain backdrop I started taking photos again. But I didn't have good lighting. I might try taking my doll outside and use the natural daylight for a photo shoot. One image looks like D's relaxed, less serious, maybe even ready to sprout a slight grin. The second looks as if he's become more pensive and concerned. In some of the other images his face looks more gloomy with a strong frown cut into his deathly gray complexion.

It really could be the lighting but I see what you mean. Try taking it outside and seeing if that works but..I'm not sure how D would look with natural light.

~Masquerade Of The Night~ Well I was gonna post up a link to a place that had the VHD reading book for 5 dollars, but it's no longer available. If it comes back in I'll post it up. Yeah places like Amazon.com. The novels can be found for $5.00 and sometimes lower. It depends on the seller, and sometimes you can find brand new books for low prices as well. 3nodding I would like to see more products coming out based on VHD. Maybe more Games? I'm happy that I have the PS1 game but I want more! Maybe one of those Japanese dating games with D? heart You know how they have those Angelique Dating Sim games? Hehe, can you imagine if they came out with a dating Sim with D and you can play any of the girls who he is featured with in the novels? That would be hella fun! whee Hey wait maybe I can make a VHD dating sim??? biggrin

However, they didn't tell me when I ordered it that it was already out of stock and since it was going to be a gift, I am very miffed. So if anyone finds this book somewhere available for purchase, I'd appriciate it if they let me know. I would also advise against ordering from animebooks.com.

Did they give you a refund and email regarding the unavailablity of the book? And you're talking about : "Vampire Hunter D Official Guide Imported from Japan" aka "Dokuhon". The official title is "Kyuuketsuki Hantaa D doku hon," Language: Japanese. published by; Asahi Sonorama ? sad I haven't found any unfortunately on any American site. You could try Japan's Google at http://www.google.co.jp/

Ooh I found it at Japan's Amazon.co.jp. If you really want it you may have to purchase it from Japan directly, because I'm not sure you can find this book an any other countries retail book seller. But you could probably find it in a Japan town in your area especially where they sell Anime and Manga Art books and toys. Sometimes they can even order Japanese imported books for you. Also try Anime Conventions and private collectors at the conventions.

~Masquerade Of The Night~ oo, thank you Betty! I'll have to show him and see if we can do it. I know some will let you but some won't. Just encase you don't have a Japan Town in your area with a Anime Store check out this one place that always attends the Fanime Conventions of the Bay Area of California. The Japanese people who run the store told me I could order anything from Japan thats exists and they can import it directly for a customer. I'm sure there are many other Japanese stores in America who can probably order for you as well. Don't forget to compare shipping costs? Some might charge less then others.

It's just a suggestion. ^__^ The Japanese Amazon.co.jp has some cool new books on VHD also. 3nodding

~Masquerade Of The Night~ Ooo! Thank you. Does this mean you live in CA? Only Japantown I knew of was the little district in San Fransisco. Yeah, I live near San Jose on the outskirts abit. And yeah I stayed in Japan Town San Francisco myself once for the Yaoi-Con in 2001, held at the Radisson Miyako Hotel. But that weekened I also ran around looking for everything anime related at the two big malls: You could try and order the Dokuhon from the Kinokuniya Bookstore in the Kinokuniya Bldg. They should be able to locate Vampire Hunter D books. ^__^
Anyhow, I didn't find a shop that was heavily concentrated around Anime in the S.F Japan Town area. There is a multimedia store that has plenty of anime titles on DVD/Games and video but they don't sell books or collectibles. And there is a toy stores that has some anime related toys but they don't sell Anime videos or DVDs or books. So I still recommend San Jose's Nikaku Japanese Arts store.
