Rory grew up to a pair of conflicted parents. They always contridicted each other, and undermined the other's words. His father was a stern beta, who always taught Rory to act as other Helixes did. To follow in his pawprints, and help support a pack. Find a mate, raise a family. The colorful pup loved his family, but always disliked his father's tutorage. His mother, being keen on sensing disappointment, started to guide her colorful pup in a new path at the same time: to be himself(whoever that may be). She always pressed that he should be free to like whoever he wanted, male or female. That always stuck out to poor Rory, and has since not been able to decide for himself. Rory came upon a decision one night, and he writhed free of both his parents' opposing ways of life, and left. He had needed to find out who he really was, in his own way.
