My bunny moofie, eats everything organic. So this means that her food has to be fresh etc. We built a cage around her so that she can eat off the fresh grass. Problem : she dug her way out of the cage when finished eating O__O
I had to chase her around my yard & she's becoming really agressive. I suggest you spend as much time with your bunnies. I got busy & kind of neglected moofie (my mom takes care of it anyways) & when i try to hold her she would squirm & make hissing noises. She once bit me & started shivering (spasms i think?). Its kind of hard to control her when she's in a bad mood. I think she needs a companion. Have as much fun with your rabbit Akari, you sound like a really good owner. I think my rabbit is already in hardships since we bought her. When we first saw her, she was locked up inside some overcrowed dirty cage.

Oh wells. I have my problems too. I don't reccomend feeding lettuce to your bunnies though.

Try not giving her the carrots or other treats for a while. She'll eat it when she realizes nothing better is coming. I avoided lettuce with my rabbits at all times, due to the high water content it can actually hold pesticides that are toxic to the rabbits but not to us. [Or so my bio teacher told me in the 6th grade] You might also try a few different types of hay, timothy, alfalfa, stuff like that.

If the bunnies are 4 or 5 Leave them alone spay-wise they've only got 2-3 years left on them anyway it's not worth it to put a senior bun through that. As for the run around, they would probably be happy just to spend hour running your basement as long as they were supervised and there was nothing dangerous.

i bot a bag thing of hay at Wall-mart. its timothy and alfalfa

awww poor bunny. no animal should be locked up alla time, setially in a tiny icky cage. i gave up on trying to hold them because i think it was getting too stressful for them and breacking our newly formed relationships. bunnies can actually die of a heart attack, so i suggest not chasing ur bun-bun. use some thing nummy to lead her ware u want her to go ^_^'

My mom and I are getting new rabbits, too! The lady where we board our horse has two females up for sale we like. We just got to gender-check and hold them today. The one I really liked seemed to really like me...she kept sniffing my face and didn't really want to go back to the hutch. The other one was a little uncertain at first, as she's a couple months younger and not as used to being handled, but she calmed down and enjoyed it, too. =P No names for our girls yet...

We have housing set for them (ours are coming inside), but we'll have to get everything else ready this week. I know they've been fed pellets, hay, and carrots, so we'll stick with the hay and pellets and carrots for treats right now. I've been doing on-and-off researching on rabbits for a while now (been interested in them for a couple years and just hadn't gotten one yet), but I'll probably be hanging around this thread and reading anything else that comes up. =)

Anyone have any advice about spaying rabbits? any experiences, words of advice, etc.? I've read that it practically eliminates the risk for reproductive system cancers and is a sure-fire way to make sure you actually have the gender you think you have...

Once a bun decides a spot is a potty spot, it's a potty spot for life. Just put something in the box, like a good low dust bedding, and it'll soak up the pee.

Animals have very unusual skills when it comes to depositing messes. x-x We once found a piece of poo from our parakeet on the wall several inches from her cage. Still can't figure that one out....

I couldn't find those guild entries about spaying, but we're trying to plan out a date for taking the rabbits for a vet check-up and will hopefully ask then.

Akiska sed:

"Getting them fixed can help with that, but depending on their age I would probably just leave it alone. Older buns don't like to wake up when they're knocked out. Just give them a bit more time to run around and exercise and they should calm down a bit.

As for the potty box, yeah that does tend to happen, make it easier on yourself and put something in it, we used pine shavings, to soak up the wet stuff and the box should dump pretty easily at cleaning time."

there it is ^_^
