Watching Fonn softly Maion cocked his head softly, he noticed that Elijah had already retreated back into her secret place she was hardly ever hungry, he used to take her to a field during the day so she could catch rabbits and other small animals. Chuckling softly he dropped the turnip and closed his eyes for a moment before looking directly at Fonn. "I am afraid Elijah is a carnivore, only eats meat." Although that was true he didn’t want her to be offended so he moved softly towards the berry and lowered his head to pick several of them up, they tasted slightly tangier than he had anticipated but still delicious. "Thank you."
He looked to the sky; the sun was lowering in the sky, which meant that the stars would soon be out. Smiling at that thought he looked back at Fonn and cocked his head slightly for a second before saying just one word, "Water?" He was feeling rather thirsty after their energetic run.

Carnivore? Fonn didn't know what that was to tell the truth, never heard of it before, but she smiled politely and chuckled a bit at her mistake. She was glad that Maion wanted some of the berries though, she would have felt bad if she had them race and everything if he hadn't been hungry. She bent her neck and picked out a few more berries as well, savoring the flavor as she chewed slowly. They were delicious.
Maions voice broke her thoughts as he spoke his single word and she swallowed what she had been chewing quickly. "Water?" She asked back. Now that she thought of it she was quite parched. The juices from the berries had sated her, but it would be nice to get an actual drink. "Sure!" She paused and looked about, her ears and nose twitching as she tried to find some water. She couldnt hear any, couldnt see any, but she could smell it.
Fonn hesitated for a moment, she never ventured in the woods after dark. Bad things made scary sounds in the woods at night and though it wasn't dark yet she knew it soon would be. The scent came from deeper in the woods almost as though it was taunting her. Her throat began to dry and it was hard to swallow, her nervousness making her thirstier.
With a small, almost inaudible sigh Fonn turned to face Maion. She stood there, watching him for a moment before leaping towards him. She nipped his mane, giving it a genital tug for him to follow her before trotting off into the trees to follow the scent.

He watched her actions with tantalizing delight; she was obviously struggling with something in her mind yet he was unsure what it was. Sniffing the air softly he attempted to capture the aroma of water but with each sniff he only drew in the strong sent of Fonn. Her elegance and grace spread in a magical aura around her. Sighing he continued to watch. Fonn seemed slightly worried, he wanted to reach out to her, tell her it would ok, that he would protect her yet it seemed a little inappropriate. It was likely she would take it as an insult to her strength although that would not have been his intention at all.
Suddenly she sprang into life towards him, nipping softly at his main in an attempt to encourage him to move with her. He knew full well that if he had wished it he could of maintained his stance will little resistance yet curiosity filled him. He followed softly, picking each hoof off the ground gracefully before bring it back down to the ground so that it landed with a soft thud. They appeared to be moving in the direction of the forest; already he could hear the owls waking from their daily slumbers. Night would be upon them shortly.
With each step among the trees his eyes darted, looking for even the slightest glimpse of movement due to his nose being incapacitated with Fonns sweet fragrance. Hopefully their passage would be a quite one. Although he was ready to pounce at any moment he wanted Fonn to feel comfortable so he spoke softly to her, "these trees look very old, I wonder what stories they could tell."

Maion didnt seem to like the forest either. He hid it well, but his twitching nose and darting eyes gave his worry away. She slowed her pace a bit so she would be walking beside him instead of in front of him. He could see better than she, after all, at night and she didn't want to block his view.
At Maions words Fonn's gaze rose to the trees in wonder. Their bark was coarse and weathered, stretching across thick twisting trunks that looked ebony in the failing light. She had never thought before of the trees, how long they had been here. "Many nights and days it'd take to tell their stories, but it'd be wonderful to hear them." Fonn whispered absently as she looked to the trees. "I bet they've watched over many soquili through the years as they passed beneath their outreached branches. Many tales of sadness and happiness, hate and love..." Fonn realized she was rambling as she gazed and blushed. She dropped her gaze to the ground once more so maion could not see the color that flushed her cheeks, but as she imagined all the tales the trees could have told a smile came to her face. 'I wonder how many soquili found true happiness, how many of those tales the trees could tell?' Fonn thought.
Rays of soft light dappled the ground at her hooves she noticed, and as the night became darker the world around Maion and Fonn seemed to stay somewhat bright. Fonn lifted her head to the sky once more to find the branches thinning. Ahead she could see light as if there was a clearing or small break in the trees. Something sparkled and glimmered in the light and the scent of water was much stronger than before.

He smiled softly as he plan had worked, she was sufficiently happy again. He not like to consider the possibility that his companions where worried or distraught, not when he felt as if the situation was under control. After listening for a few more moments he noted that the sounds of the night had settled, there seemed to nothing bigger than a fox roaming around the tree trunks in search for their next meal. Releasing a soft sigh he listened as she rambled the possibilities of trees and their stories, he remembered the game his Mother had taught him, they had to make up different stories including the description of the tree and then they had to search the forest for a tree that met that description thereby proving that the story had indeed happened. There was a thousand possibilities that flooded his mind even still, he missed his Mother and the silly games that they played.
“Indeed.” He spoke softly, “Happy stories are said to be favoured by the trees.” Although he was unsure if this was true it felt as if she needed to hear it, Fonn to him seemed to be a gentle creature who although was easily distracted longed to find her calling in life. He prayed that one day she would find it.
With each step the sound of running water increased tenfold. They where getting close now.

The forest widened and the broke, revealing a stream that cut straight through it. Water bubbled and trickled over smooth stones as it traveled ever forward. A pool, created it seemed by a deep part of the stream, displayed a glassy surface that reflected the night sky above. Fonn chuckled before bumping shoulders with Maion. "If I didn't know better I'd say you were two places at once." It did indeed look as though Maion was in the water, it's surface mimicking the stars that speckled his body and the night sky perfectly. She gave Maion a soft smile before leaving his side to go to the waters edge. her hooves stepped through the smooth surface causing only small ripples. It felt cool and refreshing as the gentle water slipped over her hooves. She turned back to Maion and smiled. She would let him drink first. Out of the two of them she believed he was thirstier.

As the entered the clearing he couldn’t help but smile at her, she seemed freer than she had previously, had something changed within her perhaps? Or was she simply warming up to his presence. The stars twinkled in all the magnificence above them, yet his heart sunk a little due to the absence of the Moon, the canopy surrounding the clearing obscured it from his view. Yet suddenly his attention was instantly changed to Fonn as she entered the pool of gently rippling water, she looked like a Goddess. So graceful and majestic, yet she stopped and looked at him, why was she looking at him. A hot blush rushed to his cheeks as he found himself tumbling closer to the rivers edge, closer to her as her the fiery flames that made up her hair danced and flickered towards him in the gentle breeze. Absolutely enchanting.
He got closer to her, entering the water softly each droplet clung to his thick coat weight each step towards her down, was the water teasing him, telling him that she was suddenly off-limits. Smiling he finally reached her, bringing his head gently down to be on the same level as her own, and before he knew what was happening he gently rubbed his nose against hers.

Fonn was surprised to say the least. Why did he touch his nose to hers. Did he accidentally? Did he trip and bump into her? She didn't think so. Maions touch was soft and gentle, almost deliberate; nothing like the coarse and sharp bumping of noses. His skin, it felt like velvet, soft and smooth. With a soft chuckle she rubbed her nose against his in return just to feel how soft he was, her mane whipping and dancing about her and Maions faces harmlessly.
After a few seconds she pulled away, blushing. Why did her mane do that? Was it telling her he was safe to be friends with? Did it mean she could trust him? She hopped so; she felt as though she would never forget Maion.
Fonn, with her head lowered as though she was gazing at the water, peeked at Maion from the corner of her eye. He was brilliant, the stars in his ebony coat twinkling like tiny diamonds in a vast black night. He was entrancing, an enigma. She felt as though a great weight had been lifted from his shoulders by playing with her, but something was still there. Softly she wadded into the deeper part of the river that formed the pool, edging her way forward until her hooves could no longer touch the stony ground.
She floated out, spinning and twisting as she moved about. She hadn't swam before, and though it was somewhat frightening it was thrilling as well. She continued until her hooves were touching the ground once more, if only barely. Fonn inhaled deeply and with a soft smile looked back at Maion. 'He should try this... It'd be fun.' She thought to herself as she gazed.

Embarrassment flooded over Maion, what had he done. Once again he allowed himself to become lost in the moment. What would his Mother think of him? Taking a step away after she had finished nuzzling him he tried to suppress any thoughts that he had about her, he liked her, but was it as a friend or more. The words honour and valour rose through his mind, it was not the correct situation to do such things; he had been out of line although Fonn didn’t seem to mind. As his mind wandered to concepts he did not understand he watched her floating gracefully upon the water, she was beautiful, a little clumsy but harmless with it.
Lowering his head softly he sipped from the cooling liquid, watching the reflection of the stars above as they danced in all their beauty before his eyes he also noted the whirling colours from her reflection as the rippling water carried them towards him. As a punishment to himself for being so inappropriate he would not speak for several moments. Silence would fill his head, as music played in his heart.

Maion was getting his drink, but though he was doing so something about how he carried himself, something Fonn couldn't quite pin point, seemed wrong. She looked to his billowing locks of silver and ebony hair, trying to see if there was some void where Elija may be missing. It was the only thing, other than memories, that she could think of that could make Maion this way, but she saw none; Elija must still be there. So why did something feel wrong? She stepped forward slowly and cautiously, not wanting to offend or frighten or anger Maion. "Maion?" She asked quietly. "Are you okay?"

Sipping the cooling liquid slowly he embraced the fresh snap it left at the back of his throat, this water seemed to be more refreshing that he had originally anticipated, it was delightful. Suddenly he noticed she was watching him, a few paces away and evidently concerned. For a moment he regretted forcing himself into silence, but he had and it still had several minutes left before he could break it once more. Softly he smiled towards her, his eyes portraying a soft kindness; he did not want Fonn to worry about him not over something as trivial as this situation he had forced himself into. Nodding his head he answered her question, physically he was fine. Winking towards her for a moment, his smile unwavering, he turned to leave the watery pool. It was chilling his ankles now, clinging to his pelt like unwanted dirt after running through the forest.
As he reached the edge of the Lake he took one fateful step onto the shore once more, his hoof sinking softly in the damp mud that resided on the shore. Digging his hooves in he dragged himself as gracefully as he could muster to the shore and turned to face Fonn once more, still smiling. He wanted to watch her, lowering his body softly he sat down at the edge, the water splashing softly towards him with every ripple on its surface. Peaceful.

She watched and waited, but no words came to Fonn's ears. She saw him nod and smile, but she couldnt shake the feeling of something being wrong. She knew it would be no use trying to coerce what was bothering him out of him, she wouldn't want someone to do that to her so she wouldn't do it to anyone else. After a moment she came to accept his nod. If he wanted to tell he would.
She smiled weakly, trying to forget the feeling of something being wrong, and kicked off from where she was standing deeper into the pool. Lights danced across it's surface as tiny rippled billowed forth from her form. Though only her head was above the water it was enough to make the once glassy surface come alive. Crimson and yellow light from Fonns mane reflected in the ripples making it seem as if Fonn was swimming in liquid gold. But she saw none of this. Her eyes were closed as she swam about, twirling and twisting, spinning and gliding through the water as though re-living a butterfly chase. It was easier to move in the water, a feeling that Fonn enjoyed quite a bit.
She paused and turned to face Maion once more, opening her eyes slowly to get accustomed to the reflected light around her. "You sure you wouldnt like to swim? It is quite fun."

He watched Fonn as magic appeared before his eyes, golden rays flickered on the surface producing a sparkle of gold, she looked royal and important floating gracefully on the sleek watery surface, a small part of him wished to join her but now was not the time. Only a few minutes left until he could talk once more.
Shaking his head softly at her answer he looked happily into her eyes, smiling softly. He was happy watching for now.

Fonn chuckled. "Alright, some other time then." She edged her way back to where her hooves could touch and slowly pulled herself from the watter. Be body felt heavy, much more than before. She shook herself dry, tiny droplets flying from her body, but she still felt heavy. She looked herself over from head to toe to find the problem and found a new layer of ice on her tail, water from the river and pool that had frozen to it. She gave a knowing smile, it would melt off soon enough. She paused and went over to Maion and sat beside him in silence.
She couldn't remember a time when she had sat still before, other than being asleep of course. It was odd, her body wanted to move about, to run or trot, but she willed herself to stay still. She didnt speak either. She just closed her eyes and listened. The forest seemed to be alive. Sounds echoed all around her almost melodically. Maybe this is what Maion was being so quiet for? The sounds were quite soothing. Fonn suddenly felt calm, felt no need to run. It was soothing to be still for once. 'I'll have to thank Maion for this,' Fonn thought. 'But not now... the forest's song isn't over yet...'

Maion felt a small glow of warmth settle around him as she sat next to him, it was unusual for him allow anyone to settle this close to him, yet it was nice, a smile perked up upon his lips as he turned his head to watch her, listening also to the beauty of the world around him.
The leaves on the near by trees rustled with the wing as the frogs and insects began their night tunes of courtship and festivity. It was relaxing to pause, even taking these few moments to be in silence he was thankful for the wonders of the world, they had always reminded him how insignificant he truly was on the grand scale of things, yet he also knew that one stallion could make a difference if they placed all their heart into each action.
Something inside him felt that it was time for his silence to break as the wind billowed towards them, dragging in his locks in a frenzy behind him. “Thank you” he said, his words full of meaning and purpose yet for the first time in his life he felt he owed an explanation for his thanks, so hesitating slightly he spoke once more, “for allowing me to see the beauty around me once more.”
