As much as it pains me to admit.. I think Darnelle would win.
He's more muscle-y and fight orientated.
Auto is made to steal. Not fight or block flying javelins.

He has plenty of muscle, but not a tremendous amount of talent from what I saw. And Xena has beaten giants. Muscle doesn't necessarily beat talent. Besides, when Xena was using Autolycus' body in The Quest she was still able to pull off her kickass Xena moves. Which means that, he may not be buff or anything, but Autolycus has a decent amount of muscle on him too.

The only time he was capable of fighting someone was when Xena was controlling him to do so. He simply does not have the mentality. Sure, he's capable of ducking every now and then, or hitting someone on the head with a vase, but other than that, I think that "the best javelin thrower" trained by Xena would beat the King of Thieves.
