I have questions about gear, as I have yet to spend most of Gijin's. When you say we have 10,000 gold, but not any magic items or weapons... does that mean EVER?

If we buy a magic item, will we ever be able to use it?

Will we obtain magic items as we go?

Do wands/scrolls/potions work? Can we spend our gold on that?

If my character were to buy a Heward's handy Haversack, would it have been taken away from him before the campaign's start?

Can we buy permanencied magic effects as gear? Would they have been dispelled before the campaign's beginning (while we were knocked out)?

Is the cake really a lie??

Will you be allowing flaws and traits?

Can we have beasts of burden to hold our extra stuff? Even better, anyone want to volunteer to BE Gijin's beast of burden?

((But... but... but my questions...))

i totally forgot man,
magic items, as long as you don't spend over 10,000 its good, no beast of burden with you; that is remember you were teleported here from your home plane of existence. So what cha don't bring you don't have.

and yes the cake is a lie

BEGAIN

Just wanting to check, but is this the point in which roleplay and interaction is permitted? Are we live; or is there a hold for other people still? I assume most of you have gold/equipment issues to handle still, eh? If not, then I'm ready to start writing.

it is a role play and there is a point to it, I would like to hold for people but i do want to get this puppy rolling so if it goes two to three days and you don't post we'll have to skip you. I am sorry if I rushed anyone this is my first forum DND campaign. I hope this lets me work out the kinks and I thank you for your patients with me *bows*

I'm actually still assemblig my equipment list. By any chance could you tell me what classes we have so I can better put stuff together? I'm thinking a few scrolls could go a long way...

That would be metagaming, good man. You're basing your decisions off information your character doesn't have. You don't know who the other being in this party are, nor do you know of what they are capable, nor what their equipment will be. That's the reason I never gave any information about Chryses on this thread. No one knows each other. That's part of the fun of this setting idea. We're randomly brought together, and our equipment and self is what we have to work with. We might end up with three rogues; if that's the case, we best make sure we have the equipment for a room before we enter it. If we have no healer, we best review a possible comment from all angles before engaging if at all possible.

If you guys wish to offer all that information before hand and make plans according to our characters (who haven't even spoken a single word to one another yet) then be my guest. However, I will not be divulging any information outside of what can be gathered in my previous posts. However, if I'm not mistaken, my ability scores are about the only direct thing related to my character I've given. Astute players may come to a single conclusion about race from one fact mentioned, but outside that, you're just going to have to hope that Chryses is capable enough to assist in this endevor when the time comes for the PCs to begin functioning.

Personally, I ask that you (Seige) do not use others information to make your decisions. Your character was taken as an individual. Your character was made as an individual. Your character should have his individual belongings. In the case that he was taken from a companion or troupe, then he may have things that would have served well to him/them. Your things here, however should reflect that, and not your current situation.

I.e.... if anyone is playing a character from a tropical island where you have no need for waterskins since that ocean is always within a half hour's walk, it wouldn't make much sense for you to be carrying three waterskins and a winter blanket without creative, and reasonable, backstory.

In short; play your character as your character. Don't play for the group. It may sound wrong, and as much as I want to see this group strive and escape, if Chryses ever once finds it in his best interest to not be involved, he will decide to venture on his own. I ask you keep that same thought of My Character.... my situation... my challenge.

Sorry buddy, couldn't help myself. But when you said ocean, I hoped you meant fruits or the like, seeing how drinking from the ocean will cause hallucination and eventual death.

Personally I think what your saying is righteous. When my friend started an undead campaign, I was the only one to make a pure rogue to start. Later on I gave him some undead-combat feats, but otherwise it wasn't fair to give my character knowledge it didn't have.

Yeah, alright. I apologize. I equipped him with stuff suitable for his background as a catburgler/vigilante/tomb raider/assassin.

Amen! I'm just happy that I just so happen to be playing my character as my character, and yet for the group at the same time. Lumi are notorious for disliking the undead and illusions. I also hate fighting undead a good half the time. Figured that this will be the only time that I get to play as this character and really let loose on those undead scum! Beware the power of LIGHT!!

Do they consider invisibility an illusion? 'cause my character loves sneaking up on people all invisible like.

BAM flailing strike sneak attackx7.

Man I really wish someone would have told me drinking the sea water would kill me so quickly. That's good information to have a couple decades into drinking it, eh?

Sorry man, but I've been drinking water from the Gulf of Mexico for years; born and raised down here, live eleven blocks from the beach. Drank it, washed in it, cooked with it..... not dead yet. Granted, I don't use it regularly. Fact is though, the salt content might help to dehydrate you faster, but at the same time, you can set up a very simple desalinification device that will provide you with water as long as you're willing to watch the fire. The problem is simply the salt; if you take the time to remove it, problem solved. No dehydration = no death.

As for halucinations.... side effects from dehydration is all I can imagine (mirages in the desert.... sound familar?) Of course, anyone of decent knowledge will know salt causes dehydration (it was known in the middle ages... salt + slug = shrivel). Again, we're back to the simple point of.... remove the salt using evaporation/condensation process.

So what have we learned? Though not optimal, the base salinity in water is not enough to kill you unless you're drinking solely sea water, and/or not removing the salts.

As for other comments/questions since my last post:

Illusion college does contain invisibility; it's a glamer spell.

Glad peoples are willing to work from an individual aspect. The main point is going to be getting/keeping us as a whole if we're too far from a central allignment *heh*

And on a side note, dear Lord am I going to have fun with my first post should I decide to douchebag my character actions *heh* I love racial abilities.
