Different variations of grit. I personally sand dolls with a 320 grit, then 400 then 1600 for smooth finish. Even better if you can manage to get the waterproof kind, so then there's less of a likely chance for you to inhale resin dust in the air (which is toxic as you might already know).
Wear a face-mask too, in case you don't. Always have water close by and a cloth to wipe off excess dust, don't blow on it. -thumbs up-

Just how toxic is it, though? .___.

It's bad if you inhale or digest it, lawl. Just don't do either and you should be fine. Typically people recommend wearing latex gloves or something while sanding, but I know that it's perfectly fine without.
I once sanded for a long period of time without a face-mask or water around and got a pretty severe headache. Soon after I put in on though, I was all right. Wouldn't take any chances.

But I mean like if I start sanding the neck a little unprotected I'm not gonna drop dead after ten minutes, right?

Ohh harr no, you should be fine. Like I said, as long as you don't inhale anything or have the dust blown around the room, everything should be okay.
Sanding resin does take a pretty long time if you want it done properly though.

Well... I guess even though cutting the neck would be easier, with sanding it I'll have more control, so that there's less chances of me messing up. I think I'll ask my grandfather to pick up some o' dat... 800/1600 sandpaper.
Oh, also, I want to see an example of a yellowed doll versus an intact doll. And, how much sun exposure causes that?

Found this on DoA, posted by belladonna: They're just resin pieces she and her sisters sanded/cut off of dolls and they left them outside in direct sunlight for varying periods of time. White skin dolls tend to yellow more severely than normal skin ones do.

Oh... Wow. It's like an Asian suntanning. Except much, much slower.
That... helps.
The second picture is hardly noticeable, though! I can see a slightly difference, but...
And as for the third picture, could the colour difference also be attributed to the different batches of resin?

Lulz. The boobs are your best bet I think. And yeah, it could for that third. Not the best comparison then, lawl. DoD resin is a lot pinker nowadays. I'll just get rid of that-- I don't have very good comparisons among my own dolls it seems. An old picture of my Ducan and Camine together. This was in March of 2007. They have this whitish pink tone to them. The same two dolls, this year. A bit more milk yellow in tone.

I really like the DoD DOI Luke head, but I absolutely despise the bodies.
But I'm wondering if it's the head I like, or the faceup...

I've kind of come to dislike other Lukes and DoIs based on Owner pictures, which is why I haven't really given up on mine yet, haha. Yeah the bodies are odd to an extent. But they're really nice posers and easy to work with. They're nice in person. My Luke looks like this right now (I was trying to sell him before, just gave him a faceup).

Ehhh... I don't like Luke as much anymore. But the Luke ver.2's face is so dreamy... IT's probably the faceup/eye combo. I just fell in love with the doll from this picture, and the nose (because I care so much about the nose of my doll) is doable for me. I'm at peace with the nose. Also, examples of noses I do not like. In fact, I was in love with DoD's Sha until... I saw the nose. My dream doll fell down in ruin because of the nose.

Sloped like a ski ramp? There's always modding, lawl. But hey, I guess if you don't like it right off the bat, it's all you.
I want to mod my Luke intensely, that's all I know.
