~Deimos' Room~

Rabid Ice Weasel

Rabid's adrenaline was still running rampant as she approached Jizzy's door. After what seemed like such a long time, she'd finally gotten her quest. Ike finally had his chance to grow!

It hadn't taken long for Jizzy and her to concoct a plan. She just hoped that it would work.

She took a deep breath and knocked on the door.

Ike clung to the neck of Mummy's shirt as he sat in her arms. She'd acted so strangely that day, it was beginning to make him nervous. He hadn't the slightest idea where they were going, and just peered around them.

Jizzy Jazz
Jizzy finished explaining the situation to Deimos. "Now you're to be good and help Malachi and Rabid, alright. We have to teach him not to drink from people when they don't want it, like you learned, but it's harder for Ike.. You understand?"

Deimos nodded as the knocking began on the door. He sped over there flinging it open. "Hi Ike! Rabi!" He said, exitedly. He was thrilled at the prospect of thier plan.

Rabid Ice Weasel
Rabid smiled knowingly down at Deimos and winked.

"Hey, Deimos," she shifted Malachi's weight, "How are you?"

Ike's ears folded backward quickly at the noise of the door and his yelling brother. They quickly returned back to normal, though, and he smiled and waved.

"Ai, Deh-ee!"

Why were they even at Dei's room?

Jizzy Jazz
"I goods!" He exclaimed, clasping Rabid's hand and practically dragging her inside.

Jizzy smiled at Ike and Rabid. "How are you two?" SHe asked jovially. SHe was ina surprisngly good mood taking into consideration what she was about to do.

Rabid Ice Weasel
"That's...good!" she laughed as she was yanked inside. She then stood and nodded to Jizzy, "Pretty good. A bit hyper, but pretty good."

Ike cocked his head to one side. Why was everyone acting so funny? Why was Mummy not putting him dooooown...

Jizzy Jazz
"Can we start, can we start!!" Deimos was jumping up and down in sheer exitement. Oh the thought of what he'd see.

Jizzy chuckled and looked over at Rabid. "Your call. I'm ready when you are.." She said, fingering a small shar knife that was on the table before them.

Rabid Ice Weasel
"Yes, we can," Rabid cleared her throat, preparing herself, and nodded to Jizzy and Deimos.

Start what?! Ike was suddenly quite suspicious, and his ears folded back...

Jizzy Jazz
Jizzy traced a series of symbols upon her forehead, a charm to make her blood bitter and just overall really nasty tasting. The whole concept was to dissaude Ike from taking blood from people, the way you disuaded nail biters from thier habit by using bad tasting polish. After the symbols were completed, Jizzy lifted the knife to her hand and cut a long and rather deep gash along her palm. Blood began to rush out immediatly.

Deimos' eyes narrowed and he licked his lips, but no. He was not to drink from mother and he was going to help Ike learn that too. He went ot get the small bag full of blood candies and plopped one into his mouth to supress the urge.

Rabid Ice Weasel
Rabid sighed, watching the blood for a moment. Her pupils narrowed almost immediately, but she shook her head to clear it. She gently placed her son on the table and took a step to the side.

Ike looked up at Mummy, then down at Deimos, then up to Deimos' mummy. It took him quite some time before he noticed the red stuff. He stared for a moment, and everything went sharp. He began to reach out toward the wound, his ears folded back and eyes wide. He thought, though, and shot a questioning glace up toward Deimos' mum.

Jizzy Jazz
Jizzy shook her head at Malachi, to tell him that no, he couln;t have any, but her hand was left limp on the table, as if truly injured. If that was the case, and someone was injured, they wouldn't be able to move the wound out of Malachi's reach.

Deimos watched the scene and noticed Ike's mother seemed to like the red stuff too. He remebered the last time Rabid had taken a drink from Jizzy and he didn't wish to repeat it so he toddled of to Rabid, tugging at her shirt and giving her a candy. Noone was drinkign from hsi mom today..

Rabid Ice Weasel
Rabid smiled down at Deimos and too the candy, but made no move to eat it. She gripped it in her hand and mouthed the words "It's okay" to the toddler. It was probably a good idea to keep the candy...just in case. She again turned her eyes to her son.

Malachi huffed and gave a small whine. His fingers twitched spasmodically, and things became even sharper. Everything seeemed to be moving in slow motion, and he couldn't tear his eyes from the red stuff. His heart beat faster, and he felt the strong urge to take some.

Finally, he could stand it no longer. He reached forward with his pointer finger and grabbed a drop of the red stuff. He lifted it to his tongue and pressed down.

Almost immediately, though, he began coughing. It was disgusting! He inspected his finger and then wiped it off on his shirt, his tongue sticking halfway out. The taste refused to go away, and he continued coughing.

He gave Deimos' mummy a questioning look, his eyes watering.

Jizzy Jazz
"I told you not to.." She said in a kind voice down at Ike.. It seemed to be working, thank goodness. Her mind had thankfully avioded thinking of the worst case scenario.

Diemos looked up at Rabid doubtfully, but looked away looking at Ike. Why was he coughing? Did Mother's blodo really taste as bad as she said it would? Did it taste like coliflower.. or worse.. brussel sprouts?

Rabid Ice Weasel
"Euuuurgh," Ike groaned and thought for a moment. Maybe it was just a bad part of the red stuff? To test his theory, he placed his entire hand on Deimos-mum's cut. He raised his hand to his face and gave it a lick.

Boy, was that stupid. She stuck his tongue out and began running his fingertips down it, trying to get the taste gone. He coughed, drooled, and experience many other unpleasant mouth-related bodily functions. He lifted up his shirt and rubbed his tongue feverently. His eyes watered from the awful taste, and he squinched them shut. His ears were folded so far back, they actually were beginning to hurt.

"GAAAAAUGH!" he yelled.

Rabid sighed and smushed her mouth to one side. This certainly wasn't pleasant, but it was the only think she could think to do.

Jizzy Jazz
Jizzy began to feel rather bad and guilt welled in her stomach, but she held strong. This would most likely show Malachi not to drink from people. "No.. You don't drink blood from people, Malachi.." She said, though her wound pulse, a fresh stream of blood comign forth.

Deimos was begining to get worried. He tugged at Rabid's shirt. "Ike okay?" He asked.

Rabid Ice Weasel
Rabid shook her head down at Deimos. She wasn't going to lie.

"We gotta teach him," she said.

Ike sniffed, on the verge of tears. He was frightened and confused and hungry all at once. He gave a hateful glance toward the red stuff and scooted away, his tongue still sticking out. He looked up at Mummy with pleading eyes. She had to help, didn't she?

Rabid looked down at her son and was hit with a nearly-overwhelming wave of guilt. Following this guilt was a profound idea. Sure, he was avoiding Jizzy...but now for the ultimate test.

She took a deep breath and grabbed the knife off the table. She slit her palm ferociously, but watched it nearly immediately heal. Without a second thought, she re-angled the knife and stabbed it through her hand. She only gave a small cry of pain, and tears welled up in her eyes.

Blood poured from the would and down the knife blade as she held it out toward her son.

Ike immediately began hyperventilating. His pupils dialated and his eyes grew wide as saucers, before snapping shut. He clapped his hands over his ears and inhaled deeply before letting out an ear-piercing shriek and a steady flow of tears.

Jizzy Jazz
Jizzy flinched at the shriek, not wanting to get her fae covered in blood by raising her hand to cover her ears, so she took it. This must be torture for poor Ike, but he'd learn.. the hard way.

Deimos had had enough. They're intentions were good, but noone was making his brother cry. He moved to the table unwrapping a candy and offering it to Malachi. "Ike take candy."

Rabid Ice Weasel
Rabid quickly tored the blade from her hand and dropped it. She whimpered in pain as it healed, and then peered back to her son. Damaging, of course, but apparently effective. She turned her eyes to Deimos...

"NO!" Ike shrieked between wracking sobs, "BAD!" He kept his hands over his ears and his eyes were still shut tight, but the shrieking had stopped. His throat hurt real bad, and the taste was still in his mouth.

Jizzy Jazz
Deimos shot a dark glare to both Rabid and his mother and plopped the candy into his own mouth. "See Candies good, People bad!! People blood taste worse cause it no candy and it all gooey and yuck." Deimos lied, amking a face while he pointed to Jizzy blood. He began to unwrap another candy and showed it to Ike. 'Candies blood good, it all sweet and crunchy!"

Rabid Ice Weasel
Ike calmed slowly and sniffled a bit. He peered at the candy in his brother's hand, looking like the epitome of innocence. He carefully reached out and took the candy, gently touching it to the tip of his tongue. Hey...Dei was right! Candy was good. The red stuff had apparently turned evil. He popped the candy into his mouth.

"Tankoo, Deh-ee," he sniffled again.

Rabid sighed and, feeling utterly useless, angled her hand so the blood ran to her fingertips. She moved to Jizzy and let her own blood drip onto her friend's wound. The guilt began to set in, and she fought it with all she had.

Jizzy Jazz
Jizzy's wound healed up almost instantly and she rubbed it. She went into the bathroom, taking the knife away with her. She returned witha damp cloth to clean of Rabid's hands. "Well.. I think it worked.." She said awkwardly.

Deimos let a fanged smile crease his face. "It not good drink from peoples, Ike. They no likey. Make they blood go yucky. Candies no care if they eated." He leapt up to sit next to his brother on the table. "Me have more candies if ya wants." He said. He felt very proud of himself, helping out his brother.

Rabid Ice Weasel
Rabid took the cloth and rubbed her hands clean, "Yeah. Seems so."

Ike smiled up at Dei.

"Tankoo," he murmured, "no deenk fum peepuh." He should have listened to Mummy all those times...

Magical_Mishaps
Suddently a strange feeling has just ran down Ike's spine, making his whole fur stand as he shivered
Then when it reached the tip of his tail a stronger blast followed, this time though every inch of his body, like it was stretching everything at the same time

And the next moment it all stoped. But he felt different
As he looked at one of the candies he was holding, as if were they the cause, he noticed his fingers were now longer than before. He looked at the rest of the body and he saw other changes on his legs, feet and tail. And his hands told him his nose and hears were different as well
He had grown!

Jizzy Jazz
Deimons clapped his hands once and did a little triamph wiggle. "See. Ike grow now!" He said.

Jizzy smiled. Thier plan had worked. She rubbed her palm absentmindedly, hoping Ike wouldn't hate her forever for this.

Rabid Ice Weasel
Ike's eyes grew wide as he looked down at himself. My absentmindedly stroked his tail, and then grabbed it and thrust it forward.

"DEI! MUMMY! IKE GROW!" he yelled and giggled happily. He then trust his tail toward Dei's mummy, "LOOK!"

Rabid clapped and laughed, insanely excited.

"Yes, Ike! You grew! Lookit you!" she grinned so hard her cheeks began to hurt, and she had to fight back happy tears.

Jizzy Jazz
Jizzy couldn;t help but smile. It had all worked out. SHe stood from the table going and giving Rabid a quick hug. "Glad we ould help, right Dei?"

Deimons nooded and turned to Malachi. "Now you big, you talk like me. You be part my pirate crew!"

Rabid Ice Weasel
Rabid hugged Jizzy and said, "Sorry and thank you." She smile refused to wipe away...

Ike nodded and clapped his hands together, "Ike be pirate! Captain Dei!" He then thought for a moment...

"Deimos! See? Ike say it right now!"

Jizzy Jazz
"No need to apologize. It all worked out." SHe said, beaming as well. "He's a handsome little guy, isn't he?"

"Captain Deimos. Me like that name! I Captain Dei from now on!" He said, nodded fervently. He was a captain now.

Rabid Ice Weasel
"Alright," Rabid giggled, "Isn't he? Though one must acknowledge the creepiness factor. Awesome..."

She then added as an afterthought, "Now that is a vampiric albino squirrel child of doom!"

Ike nodded and gave a clumsy salute.

"Big brother Captain Dei in charge all time."

Jizzy Jazz
"You can say that again." She said with a chuckled. Vampiric Albino Squirell CHild.. of doom of course. It had a nice ring to it.

Deimos saluted back. "Lil Brother Ike smart." He said, smirking and ruffling up Ike's hair, as a sort of tease.

Rabid Ice Weasel
Ike giggled and ducked out of the way. It was good to finally be on the same level as Dei.

"Well, Jizzy," Rabid reasoned, "We should probably go. Squirrelboy'll be needing some new clothes. I'll see you soon, okay?" She walked over and picked her son up.

"Ike walk?" he questioned.

"Err...alright," Rabid placed the Mishap on the ground and grabbed his hand. They began walking out and she noticed that Ike's style of walking was quite soft, greceful. Juuuuust like a squirrel...she snerked, "Bye, Jizzy! Bye Deimos!"

"Baibai, Dei!" Malachi turned back and waved, "Baibai, Jeezeh!"

~Coming to Terms with Mortality~

No insect lasts forever. It's very common knowledge that most die in winter.

Nisha was no acception.

Malachi sniveled as he dug a hole in the cold earth. He hadn't know Nisha for long enough, and he missed her already. Why did things have to die at all?

Rabid watched on sadly, fighting back tears. She had to be strong for her son, and it seemed quite silly to cry over a butterfly...even if it had been a loyal friend for all those months. Again, she was being forced to come to terms with her immortality.

Ike picked up the small box that lay beside him and placed it in the ground. Silent tears began to fall as he covered over the cardboard vessel with handfulls of dirt. Poor little Nisha.

"There yah go," Rabid spoke the first words in quite some time, "Come on. Let's go get some ice cream." Ah, ice cream, the universal healer.

Ike embedded a colourful rock in the ground before standing and taking Mummy's hand. He followed her as she walked back into the HQ, trying to calm himself.

~On The Balcony~

A loud "ding" repeated in Pink's ear until, scrambling, he found the timer knob on the dryer and durned if off. Laundry done, he scooped the warm clothes and towels out of the dryer and plopped them into the mesh laundry hamper.

Raising his head, he nodded to those that were there, "Well, laundry's done. Hope to see some of you around again!" Reaching down, Pink scooped up Tam in one arm, stuffed lion and all. "I know Tam will be looking for some playmates."

Grinning, he picked up all the remaining toys and the pink blanket, and put them into the hamper as well. With a small sigh, he stood, steadying himself under the unbalanced weight, and headed out of the little room. Over his shoulder, Tamary watched the other's in the room until the door closed and blocked them from view.

Up the stairs they went, Pink talking a bit of nonsense to his Mishap to keep her busy. "Finally got to meet some other people, eh Tam? You like the other boys? They were mostly all a bit older than you... Seem to get along with that Rex and his brother rather well though... perhaps we will see them again, hmm? You'd like that, wouldn't you? Yes, I think you would..."

Back in their room, Pink dropped off the hamper to be sorted out later. He wasn't quite ready to settle down and do such work yet, however. Glancing at Tam, he asked her opinion. "What should we do now, little princess?" Tam barely looked at him. She was busy exploring the picture blocks with her mouth. The little feathers on her head raised and fell, almost with every breath. "Mmmm, I see..." Pink contemplated, as though she had replied, "I like that idea, my dear!" Slapping his leg, he turned and went to the dresser. It was getting rather chilly outside and he wanted Tam to wear something warm.

From the dresser he chose a baby-sized yellow pulloever sweatshirt. It had a little hood with the frills of a duck head on it, and small pocket in the belly. Tam fussed quite a bit when Pink went to take the blocks away. Pouting and squirming, she finally made it into the yellow hoodie. It was not too tight and looked rather adorable on her, especially the yellow on her green skin.

"Alright, little lady..." Picking her up, he again took the pink blanket, so she might have something warm to crawl on, and the little lion. "Hmm...I'd say some new toys were in order, or you might just eat through this poor guy." He murmured as he dropped the lion on her lap.

Out the door, he didn't go far. There was a balcony at the front of the stairs that he had yet to visit. A bit of fresh, cool air, sounded rather lovely. Opening the door outside, a great deal of that air hit him in the face as a breeze ran inward. He was very glad he had dressed Tam warmly.

Outside, he put down the blanket and Tam on top of it. Once she was settled, he moved away for a moment, wanting to get a look off the balcony. "No jumping, okay?" He teased.

~"C'mon, Mummy!" Malachi squealed as he bounded down the hallway, "We gotta hurry!" He giggled wildly as he ran, and began galloping on all fours just before he reached the door. He suddenly sprang forward, and only then did he realize that there were others outside.

"Hiiii!" he called as he flew through the air, landing on the balcony railing and sitting up on it.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah," Rabid murmured, humming to herself. She felt obscenely happy for no readily apparent reason, and she was enjoying it quite a lot. She grabbed Skelly and a thick novel off of the dresser and exited her room. Soon, Rabid's humming turned into full-fledged operatic belting. She waltzed with nobody down the hall, until she saw other people out of the corner of her eye. She stopped abruptly, blushed, and stood in the doorway.

"Look, Mummy!" Malachi grinned and pointed to the man and the green Mishap.~

The shifter turned abruptly, his tail brushing the railing as he looked over at the Mishap that suddenly appeared out of nowhere. And sitting on the railing! Pink was lost for words, and gaped for the moment before Rabid came in sight. He was glad this Mishap had a guardian, for he wasn't quite sure how to handle the situation. "Why hello.." Pink tried, looking at the white furry creature, "you seem to balance quite well up there."

Turning, Pink grinned at Rabid, a devious sparkle in his smile, "This 'un belong to you?"

Tamary made a shrill noise again in her throat for reason not understood by Pink. "Mwark awwrk kakar" Her scratchy, high pitch voice stated, looking up at Malachi curiously.

~Rabid cleared her throat and forced a smile.

"Yup. This'n's mine," she held Skelly out to her son.

Malachi shot forward, grabbing Skelly mid-flight and then leaping back onto the railing and flipping upside-down.

"They call me Rabid," the woman stuck out her hand, "That's my son Malachi."

"Everyone calls Ike 'Ike', though, mister," Malachi grinned and then turned to the baby, "Hello, little feathery girl."~

"Nice to meet you, Rabid," He turned, "Malac- Ike." Back at Rabid he replied in kind, "I'm Pink, and this 'un is Tamary. Tamary Zeuleika."

"Mmrrrawwrr..." Zeuleika replied, with a little curious chirp. She watched as Rabid, whom she had ignored until then, passed something off to the other Mishap. Another sharper, demandingly curious chirp sounded from her, "Awwrk?!." A little green hand raised in the air toward Ike, and she made a small gurgle. She wanted to see what it was Malachi had!

~Rabid smiled, "Hi, Pink. Nice to meet you. Is this your floor? I haven't seen you around..." In truth, she hadn't...not that she was usually very observant. That, and she didn't have a whole lot of time to fraternize with the other guardians.

"Tam," Malachi smiled and then noticed that she was reaching out toward him. Giving Skelly a quick glance, he held the plush out, but kept a good grip...just in case.~

A little bit of pink blushed Pink's cheek, "Yeah, this is my floor... I admit, I haven't been wandering around the complex much." His smile dropped down to pause on Tam for a moment, "sure meeting lots of people today though! Didn't know the laundry room was such a happening place." He joked, looking at the other again. He noticed she was still standing in the doorway, "You can come on out if you like, balcony's a bit big for just myself."

Rather than being pleased that Malachi was offering her the plush, she got more aggitated. Another sharp chirp sounded from her, less patient, "Mwark!" Her little green fingers flexed wantingly. He was all the way up on the railing! She would never reach!

~"Oh, right," Rabid blushed and stepped out onto the balcony itself, "You'd be surprised. I've met a few people there, although I already knew a bunch of the guardians from...my stalking of the shop."

Malachi huffed and dropped to the surface of the balcony. He kept a sweet smile plastered on his face as he sat before Tam, still offering Skelly out.~

Tam reached out, quited now that Ike was at her level. Her eyes followed her fingers, which wrapped around "Skelly", and gave a tug. When the other Mishap didn't let go immediately, she dug her little claws into the plush and grumbled quitely, still tugging. The colorful feather on her head lay flat against her skull, and her tail swished over the blanket.

Pink wasn't sure what to say to Rabid's "stalking" comment. After a moment, he cleared his throat and inquired "So...you've been around the shop before you.. adopted Ike?"

~Ike let go of the plushie, trying to avoid any un-needed damage.

"Be careful with Skelly, Tam," he warned, "No ripping." Sure, Mummy could fix him, but it always took so long.

"Yeah," Rabid laughed and moved to the railing nearby Pink, sitting on it and kicking her feet, "I found it late...June? I'm dirt poor, so no adoption. Ike's...biological...if you catch my drift." She smiled lightly, showing off her fangs.~

It wasn't as though Tam could understand just yet what Ike was saying. His sounds were just about as intelligible as her own to the baby Mishap's ears. However, she got the gist of seriousness from his voice. Not that that meant she wouldn't immediately put it in her mouth once she got her hands on it. Which she did. It tasted funny, probably because it was Ike's and not her own. "Bggbbrrggee" she gurgled around the plush.

Pink tried not to stare but he was more than a little surprised. He looked at the Mishap and then back at Rabid. He had yet to see Ike's teeth and Rabid didn't appear to be white and fluffy. "Oh... sorry, didn't see the family respemblence.." Blushing lightly, he rubbed a hand through his hair and looked at the two on the Balcony floor. He didn't know a Mishap could be biological. Gently, his lightly spotted tail brushed the railing.

~Ike gasped lightly, and then calmed. No sharp teeth. Good.

"Careful," he said, and then pointed to his teeth and shook his head, "Skelly not fuh eating."

"Well," Rabid laughed, "There's always that squirrel he's got in 'im. I just...messed up is all." She lay down on the railing and peered up at the sky. "Nice day, eh?"~

Pink turned and looked out at the view. It was, indeed, a nice day. Pink loved these cold days when summer and fall faded into memory. "Winter's my favorite season..." He murmured aloud as a breeze ruffled his blonde hair. His blue eyes gazed down at Rabid as she lay over the rail, "So you've lived here a while?" A bit repetitive, but he wasn't very good at small talk.

Zeuleika blinked slowly at Ike. With Skelly clamped tightly in her toothless gums, her hands reached out toward Ike. He looked very fluffy and soft and... wholely unlike anything she had seen before. He was close enough for her to curl her fingers in the tuft of hair on his head. "Zzuuuu.."

~"Erk!" Ike cried as his hair was grabbed, "Careful! Careful!" Oh, the downsides of beig foozy...

"Mine too," Rabid smiled, "and, not really. Moved in October first, Ike's birthd---err...day of creation. These are the best living conditions I've ever had." She laughed again, and then turned toward her son. Eh...he'd be able to handle it.~

Pink followed her gaze to the two on the balcony floor. He groaned upon seeing what was going on. "Zeuleika, you greed monster, you can't have everything..." He teased lightly, embarrassed. "Be nice to Ike." Turning his attention to Rabid, a light blush once again on his cheeks, he nodded, looking out, "Sorry about that..."

Zeuleika giggled, pulling the plushy skeleton out of his mouth with her right hand while she held onto Ike with her left. Smiling and pleased, she tugged on Ike's hair just a bit as she bounced. Skelly, fortunately soft, became an unintentional weapon as the Crocodile Mishap thwaped Ike repeatedly with it. She didn't intend to be cruel, but she was having fun and didn't realize she could possibly be hurting the other.

~Everything went sharp for a moment as Ike wrenched away.

"No," he said, "Be nice to Ike. No hit." He understood, to some extent, that babies hadn't the slightest idea what they were doing.

Rabid's eyes trailed away from the children and back to Pink. She waved a hand dismissively.

"It's no problem. Squirrelboy was a little animal when he was little too. No pun intended," she sighed when she saw a large green fuzwad out of the corner of her eye. She walked over and picked Aloysius up, petting the big grunny as he looked around. How had he escaped THIS time?~

"You've got a Grunny!" Pink stared in amazement at the green rabid-thing. He'd heard of these things running amok, but he'd yet to actually see one. "Aren't they... dangerous?" He glanced over at the Mishaps and back without meaning to.

Though the other had gotten himself away, Tamary's grip had remained quite sturdy to the end. As a result, she had a nice souvenir of a few white hairs left in her chubby green hand. She giggled when she saw it, opening her fingers. The bouncing continued a few more times before calming. Looking down and about, the little Croc found her lion plushie laying discarded to the side. Dragging it over, she offered it to Ike. "Grraawwak?"

~"Naaaw," Rabid laughed, "Aloysius wouldn't hurt a flea. Here. Give him a pet." She held the zombified bunny out to Pink, smiling reassuringly. The animal's tail twitched and he stretched his neck out, trying to get a good sniff of the man.

Ike rubbed his scalp and cocked his head to one side. He smiled when the lion was offered up to him.

"Very pretty lion," he nodded and quickly beeped Tam's nose for fear of being nipped at.~

Tam prodded Ike very persistantly with the lion, not happy with him simply admiring it. Opening her snout wide, she clamped it shut. "Mrowowowow"

Pink eyed the green ball of fluff. "Hmm..." Raising his hand, he carefully brough it towards the Grunny. When it didn't immediately jump at his finger, he gently rubbed it's head.

~Ike took the lion and peered at it questioningly.

"Ike dun'n't chew on pretty lions," he tried to explain.

Aloyisus' tail twitched and he closed his eyes, folding his ears back and letting out a gutteral growl.

"That's a happy noise," Rabid assured Pink and laughed, "He likes you. Good. I was afraid he was going to disembowel you." She stuck her tongue out at him.~

Pink's face went a little white. He didn't get the joke. "Heh..." He forced a laugh, carefully removing his finger. What a creepy pet! "We have...fish."

It didn't matter at all to Zeuleika that Malachi didn't stuff the plush immediately into his mouth, as she did his toy. She was happy enough that he had accepted her "gift".

~"I was kidding!" Rabid laughed heartily, "We have fish too. A guppy and a couple of carp. How about yourself? Got any dragons hidden in there?" Aloysius twitched. He knew when he wasn't wanted. He turned and clung to Rabid's shirt.

Ike peered down at the lion and ran his long fingers through its mane. What a strange little kid...but she was so cute...~

Pink smiled lightly and laughed politely. "Oh, we have... kao? Hmm.. can't seem to remember what she called them. They were a gift from Silencer, rather unexpected, really. Nice of her." He nodded and looked out. Somehow the day had passed by quickly. Already the sun was high in the sky.

Zeuleika was tired of Skelly. However, she didn't throw it away as a child might. Instead, she took it from her mouth and gently dropped it to the side. Tam liked toys. "Mwarpmwpmwnap?" She inquired, pearing at the other. Her attention turned suddenly as she noticed the other had a tail. A tail! In all the time she'd been with Pink, she'd never once noticed he'd had a tail or had a chance to think what to do with one. But Ike's was just so... so... THERE. So alive and flouncing. With no thought for resistance, Tamary reached out and grabbed the white tail. Her grib was surprisingly strong; Not knowing her own strength, she used all of it when she grabbed and pulled. She did both, pulling the other's tail until she could grab it with both hands. It took her, after examining it, all of five seconds to decided what to do next.

It tasted unlike anything she'd chewed on previous.

~"Got fish from Silencer...and a sentinent piece of candy. Creepy little thing, she is," Rabid murmured and absentmindedly pet Aloysius. The sun was beginning to make her arm itch, and so she placed the Grunny down. He hopped over to Pink and sniffed his leg.

Ike just sat there as the baby took his tail and started gnawing. Everything went sharp again, but he felt no impulse to do...anything, really. Whatever it was that he was feeling was both pleasant and unpleasant at the same time. Man, now his fur was going to be all wet...~

Tam's baby teeth grinded against the bone of Ike's tail. They were very very small and very dull, but with the force she was using, it didn't matter much. Her tail swished, a happy parasite. After the initial taste test, however, her gnawing eased to more of a gumming chew and the small teeth were once again unnoticable. The furr, as she worked her way up the tail, tasted funny and stuck to the inside of her mouth. As she chewed on it, however, she noticed how it clumped together and stood out when it got wet. This discovery sent a dull shrill flying from her as she made effort to make as much of the furr stick out as possible.

Pink eyed the small green creature next to his foot. He had, at that moment, to overwhelming and completely inappropriate urges: 1)to kick the ball of fluff so close to his foot 2)to eat him. Repressing both, Pink dediced to "face his fear", so to speak. Bending down, he scooped up the Grunny. The red eyes were a little distrubing. The hyena was not great with small creatures; he DID eat them, after all.

~Ike watched with curiosity, but then things began to dull as he saw what Tam was doing. He giggled and licked his hand, making the fur on his ears, cheeks, elbows, and chest stick out too. Sure, he felt like an idiot...but it was fun like that!

Rabid watched Aloysius carefully, not quite sure who to be afraid for. The Grunny's ears folded back and he began growling again, peering up at Pink. In his mind, he was just some kind of oversized lop-eared...and nobody was going to tell him differently.

"I can shove him back inside, if you like," Rabid offered. Sure, neither had done anything yet, but Pink had seemed a bit uneasy around the undead animal before.~

"Na, it's alright." Petting him for a moment longer, Pink set him back down on the ground. "Not so bad" Grin. See look, ma, I didn't eat him. Looking over at his charge, he was glad to see that she hadn't eaten Ike after all. "So..."

Tamary giggled, pausing in her chewing as she watched Ike play along. She liked Ike! Soon his tail looked like a soft quilled cactus, sticking out everwhere. "Zuuuzopzopzopsap." Dropping his tail, she rolled back sat back on her pink blanket. Her tail swished a little bit, but she was getting bored. Or tired. The feather on her head rose and fell. "Zrrrrrr" She shrilled.

~"Yanno what?" Rabid shook her head, "I know why he got out. The jerk must've chewed a hole in his cage. Forgot to feed them. C'mon Ike, we've gotta g--" She laughed when she saw her prickly child.

"Okee," Ike agree and stood, "Bai, Tam." He grabbed Skelly and went to Mummy.

"It was nice meeting you, Pink," Rabid smiled, "I hope to see you again some time. Bye, Tamary!"~

Pink gave a one handed wave and a nod, watching them go. Afterwards, he looked over at Tam. She had layed down on her belly on the blanket, fingers curled into the pink quilt. Too much excitement for one day had warn her out.

"Alright, princess... let's get you to bed..."

Rabid Ice Weasel
~Indoor Garden~

Rabid kneeled on a corner by a large flowerbed, tending to a red rosebush she's recently deemed as hers. She hadn't seen anyone around the HQ in quite some time, so she'd travelled up to the fourth floor to do...something...

Malachi lay on the edge of the fountain itself, resting his head on one arm and trailing a fingertip through the water. He was bored. Very, very bored.

Silencer Wolf
The distinctive sound of basketball bouncing off the floor and the following echoes off the walls could be heard from somewhere near the stairs, and a moment later a toddler came into view - you guessed it, dribbling a basketball. The child's attention was fully on the ball, and he went running straight in the direction of Malachi, gaving not noticed him.

"Rex? Be careful you don't break or destroy anything!" Silencer.

"Yes mom!" Looking up just then, Rex's eyes widened. "Watch out!"

And in veering away just in time, the toddler's foot landed on a stray pebble, slipped, and fell straight into the fountain with an audible splash, spraying water in Rabid and Malachi's direction.

The ball, having slipped out of Rexier's hands, bounced one, two, three times, and rolled off towards Rabid.

Rabid Ice Weasel
Malachi's ears folded back and his pupils shrank drastically when the other boy called out to him. He sat up quickly and only recieved a few droplets of water to the face. He squinched his large red eyes closed against the spray and sat back like a frightened dog.

Rabid looked down as basketball met foot, and then glanced over at the toddlers in the fountain. Her reaction was not at all what she had expected it to be. She walked up to the fountain and offered a hand to the little brown boy...wait...did he have 2 heads?

Silencer Wolf
Rex broke the water surface and gasped, breathing rapidly. Boy, was the water cold! Looking up around he saw Rabid with her outstretched hand, and gladly took it, smiling sheepishly.

"Sorry," the child said once out of the fountain, dripping wet. He pondered on shaking himself dry, saw poor Malachi, and decided against it.

"I, uh..."

Rabid Ice Weasel
Rabid pulled the boy out and then glanced around for any sign of a guardian. She'd heard a female voice, sure...but she didn't know from where.

"Hi. I'm called Rabid," she said with a sweet smile.

Malachi opened one eye and, feeling no water running into it, opened the other. He grinned broadly when he saw the new siamese-twin-of-sorts Mishap.

"Hi! M'name's Malachi, but everyone calls Ike 'Ike'! What's your names?"

Silencer Wolf
"Nice to meet you, sweet-lady Rabid," Rex smiled up at her charmingly, then turned to face Malachi, grinning down cheerfully at the furry boy. The toddler seemed to have forgotten the fact that he was soaking wet, and reached a hand out towards him. "Hi Ike! M'name's kinda long, so you just call me Rex, and him," the child turned his head sideways, "is King. D--"

"Rexier Gaver!"

A figure dressed in complete black marched up towards the trio suddenly, panting slightly from the run up the stairs earlier, though her voice certainly did not sound like she had just had a work out. "What in the world did you do to yourself?" she asked, staring at her charge incredulously.

"I... uh, dribbled, ran and almost crash into Ike, but dodged him, and flew into fountain, and took a swim!" came the reply, all in one breath. "Ike okay, for'nately. I dodge good!"

"Krrr...." Good indeed.

"You almost-- Ike?" The guardian blinked, and looked around her. Noticing Rabid and Malachi, she went slightly pink, and nodded to them.

"Oh. Hi." she said with a smile.

Rabid Ice Weasel
Ike gladly shook the other boy's hand, ignorant to the water.

"Hi, Rex. Iss nice to meet you. Thankee for not ramming into Ike's head."

Rabid's head turned from the boy to his guardian. She blushed and smiled slightly.

"Hi," she said and pulled off her dirty glove before offering her hand to the woman. She had such strange luck with meeting new people...

Silencer Wolf
"No problem. Rex never rams into any head." Rex shook Ike's hand, then bent over and whispered in his ears, "'Cept Mother's. Her head good for ramming."

Then the child returned to his upright pose, and searched around for the basketball-- ah there, beside a red rosebush. The boy sprinted off towards it, and returned shortly after. Maneuvering his way around Rabid, his mother and Ike, Rex made his way towards the fountain, and wahed off what dirt it had collected - unaware of the fact that the water from the fountain was supposed to be kept clean.

The boy bounced the ball twice to rid it off excess water, then offered it to Ike. "Ike play basketball?"

Silencer took Rabid's hand and shook it warmly. "Hi hi, nice to meet you. I dn't believe I've met you before; name's Silencer, and you are...?"

Rabid Ice Weasel
"Rabid."

Man, introducing yourself was hard with a nickname like that.

"Well, not really, but everyone calls me Rabid." She blushed slightly and gave a sideways glance toward the boys. She hadn't seen anything, as far as anyone knew.

Ike giggled at Rex's statement, and then looked down at the basket ball.

"Yanno, foun-teen is supposed to be c---whass basketball?"

Silencer Wolf
"Rabid." Silencer echoed, and smiled. She followed Rabids gaze for a while, before breaking off elsewhere.

"Well. What are the both of you doing here, if I may ask?" She asked finally, then slapped herself inwardly. Goodness, what a stupid question.

"Ike not know basketball?" Rex asked, surprised. "Basketball is great game, you take bumpy ball," the boy patted the ball in his hands, "and run and dribble," this he demonstrated, dribbling the ball around the fountain then Ike, "and score through hoops high up in court." The boy wrinkled his face, trying to recall what the tall board thing was called.

"No good." The boy shook his head. "Rex forgot name."
Perking up, he waved the ball around, and continued, "but 'tis fun! You get ter run around, and jump, and run, and steal ball, and run..."

Rabid Ice Weasel
Rabid cocked her head slightly, "I was taking care of that bush over there. In layman's terms...being bored."

She gave a slight smile, "and what about yourselves?"

Ike watched Rex in wonderment.

"Sounds like fun," he smiled, "Can Ike try? Pwease?" He bent his knees and readied an arm to steal the other boy's ball.

Silencer Wolf
"I see..." Silencer said, glancing in the direction of Rabid's bush. "As for me... Since Rex wanted to play his basketball and it's raining outside, I thought of just bringing him up here and let him dribble around the place."

"Sure, Ike!" Rex nodded, making no attempt to stop the other mishap's attempted steal. "Here no court, so we can't shoot an' all tho."

Rabid Ice Weasel
"It is?" Rabid glanced out a window, "Mymymy...time sure flies when you're bored out of your mind." It was then that she was struck with a sudden, seemingly random memory.

"Oh!" she exclaimed, "I saw Rex at the Halloween event! He..he was riding some...wait...was that you?"

She laughed nervously and tugged at a curl.

"No, no...of course not."

Ike screwed up his face and then took Rex's basketball.

"Sure we can! Go like this."

He smiled and held his arms out, creating a kind of would-be hoop.

Silencer Wolf
"Oh, that's me alright." Silencer grinned. She still remembered, eh? "How'd you figured it out?"

And to prove it, she began to morph. A tail emerged first as her coccyx elongated, and once a proper length, phoosh! A thick tuft of fur erupted along the end, forming a near gryphonlike tail had it not for the clawed tip.

Next were her hind legs. Bones grew and shifted neatly into well muscled paws. The growing, shifting and reallignment of bones continued up her body - ridges formed at the base of her spine and continued down her tail; she fell forwards as her front limbs morphed into claws; her neck lengthened before the once human face changed into one resembling a velociraptor. A very large velociraptor.

And finally five stiff, feathery quills sprouted, one by one, from near the back of the creature's head, ending at the base of the neck. Silencer shook her head and peered for at Rabid from the height of 7 feet. "Hee."

"I have a better idea." Rex shot forwards and took back his ball from Ike as he created a hoop with his arms. The boy the grinned down at Ike, before cocking his head at his mother. "Use her tail as hoop, no risk getting face smacked by ball. What Ike say?"

Rabid Ice Weasel
"Hah. That's how, now," Rabid murmured, peering the 11 inches up into Silencer's eyes, "Quite interesting, if I may say so myself. I can't do much unless you tick me off." She snerked at the thought.

"Ike doesn't know," Malachi looked worriedly at Rex's mum. A lot of people didn't like being messed with, and he didn't much like the idea of a facefull of claw.

"Ike'll do it if Rex asks."

Silencer Wolf
"Ah? What can you do?" The greften asked, lips unmoving. Oh yes, she's curious now.

"Ike no worry. Mom never minds 'bout this things." Rex said reassuringly to Ike. Then, as if to prove his point, the boy walked up to Silencer and gave her tail a tug. "Mom?"

"Mm?"
"Me and Ike wants to play basketball."
"Go ahead then. Have fun~"
"Rex want your tail to be hoop."

"Sure, dear." Silencer patted her toddler with her tail, resulting in a sneeze from King at all the fur.

"There Ike! Rex says Mother no mind at all." Jogging back to Ike, the boy held out the ball to him. "Now where d'you want to play...?"

Rabid Ice Weasel
Rabid blushed at the question, and only spoke after the boy walked away.

"Besides feed on the life force of mortals? Not much. Have you ever seen Interview With the Vampire? Their fangs...they get longer before attacking. Get me ticked, and I get very pointy." She tugged at a curl and twirled it around her finger.

Ike watched on in amazement before a wide grin broke across his face.

"Ike plays anywhere Rex wants. Rex is the proof-ess'nal!"

Silencer Wolf
"I see..." Silencer said, in the least shaken. The woman-- urm, creature registered hardly any reactions nor unease at Rabid's explanation, but merely raised and lowered her head feathers like a curious cockatiel would. "Coolio..."

Rex shook his head, a small smile on his face. "Nope, Rex no prof'snal. 'Isashi and 'Namichi are," he explained, referring to two avid basketballers back home. "Rex terrible compared to them..."

Handing the basketball to Ike, Rex returned to where Rabid and Silencer stood. Positioning himself between the two, the boy pushed at his mother's side while King stared up at Rabid. "Ma... come now, Rex 'n Ike wanna playing basketbaaall..."

"Cheeeeerr..." Does this lady wanna play?
King bared his fangs testily, as if to warn Rabid against touching him.

"Oh."

Turning to Ike's guardian, the boy asked whether she would like to join them, while continuing to push and prod his unbudgeable mother.

Rabid Ice Weasel
"Until I come after you," Rabid make a false menacing gesture and laughed. She then turned down to King and bared her own fangs jokingly, quickly closing her mouth again when Rex turned toward her.

"Oh, I don't know. I'm kinda out of practice," she said, "but I could ref, since your mum is the hoop. Or I could be the backboard, if youd like." She smield to herself and hoped that the little Dinosaur-boy wouldn't take that last bit seriously.

"Rex better than Ike," Malachi said and watched the other boy do...whatever it was that he was doing.

Silencer Wolf
"Ah yes. That'd be a different story, wouldn't it?" Silencer winked at Rabid. Then she turned her head to Rex, and faked a stumble.

"Oh child, I beg of you. Push me not, push me not, for I am not strong enough to stand... it!" At the last word she lunged forward, and reached out her tail in front of Rex to stop him from falling over.

"Come on then."

Rex stumbled, but caught hold of his mother's tail and steadied himself. Turning back to Rabid he grinned. "Ike-mum no backboard, Ike-mum ref! Rex don't want ter be respons'ble for hur."

The boy then turned tail, and ran after Silencer.

"Come, come!"

Rabid Ice Weasel
Rabid giggled and nodded in agreement. Cute kid. Sure, he was bit hyper, but that added to the...what...cute-ness factor?

Ike cocked his head at Rex and followed slowly. Boy, this was confusing...

Silencer Wolf
Rex followed his mother to a large, clear area. Once Silencer was in position, the child turned his back to the 'hoop', knees bent, and readied himself into defence position.

"Ike wanna go first?"

Rabid Ice Weasel
"No," Malahci shook his head, "Rex go first. Show Ike how."

He went up to where Rex was and took the same position, figuring that whoever didn't have to go first had to block.

Rabid's eyes flickered to a clock on the wall. Man, had time flown by!

"Sorry, guys," she smiled over to the toddlers, "But Ike and I have to go soon. Make the game quick, okay?"

Silencer Wolf
Bdmp. Bdmp.

Rex took the ball and positioned himself a few feet away from Ike. The boy dribbled it into a steady rhythm, and smiled up at Ike.

"Ike have to dribble, and try get past defence to score." This the boy demonstrated by pushing off his left foot suddenly, holding out his left arm to add distance between Ike and the ball to in an attempt to block a steal.

"But Ike defending now, so Ike have to stop Rex going in, or try to steal ball."

Rabid Ice Weasel
Ike, being quite afraid of hurting his new friend, lunged forward and under Rex's arm, attempting to swipe the ball. He missed by inches and stumbled backward. He didn't like this game much. Then, suddenly, he heard a string of loud barks coming from below them.

"Mummy! Jack is hungry!" he said, forgetting about the game and pointing to the floor.

"Oh, God," Rabid rolled her eyes, "I'm sorry, but I really have to go. It's was a pleasure to meet you." She smiled at Silencer and waved, unsure of what, exactly, to do. She then began sprinting toward the stairs as the barking became more shrill, sounding more and more mechanical.

Ike watched Mummy run off, and then turned to Rex.

"Sorry, Rex! Ike and Rex finish game 'nother day. Rex winned by default. BAAAAI!" He ran off down the stairs, his ears folded back against the noise.

~Brothers~

Jizzy Jazz
Jizzy sat on a couch in the toy room, a book in her hand, a bandaged and sprained ankle lifted

up onto it. Her crutches lay by her side, those damnable crutches.

Deimos has brought out the blocks and Zir and was now rather busy building a

castle, which he'd raid as soon as it was done. He sniggered as he continued rather content

with himself.

At Deimos side was the small spider child. He was just laying there, quiet,

watching Deimos play. He was ina rather sleepy mood so he'd drift in and out of sleep,

currentl, he was awake.

Rabid Ice Weasel
Rabid walked happily into the toy room, having

heard movement. It felt like forever since Ike had been able to actually play with someone his

age. Upon physically entering the room, she saw Jizzy and waved.

"Aww, Jizzy," she said sweetly, peering down at her friend's ankle, "You alright?"

Ike's ears twitched back and forth as Mummy's hair fell into them. He had his arm

wrapped around her neck, and his legs around her waist. In his other arm was Skelly, his

faithful companion. When he saw Dei and the spider boy, though, he happily jumped down.

"Mummy? Ike go play with Dei and boy."

"Alright, hun," Rabid smiled down to him, and then took a seat nearby Jizzy.

Ike happily bounced over, a wide grin plastered on his face.

"Hiya, big brother Captain Dei! You growed, didn't you?" he said and turned to the spider boy,

"Hiya, little boy."

Jizzy Jazz
Jizzy smiled and set down her book nodding. "I'll be fine.. It's

just sprained." SHe said, shiftign slightly to give Rabid more room to sit. "The crutches are a

pain though."

"Hey, Ike!" He said, topping of one of the spires. "Yah, I grew, not to much

after you did I think." He build up one of te walls. "Where have you been?"

Tal shuffled back slightly as Ike acknoledges him and kept his head down. He

made a small, burbling hello sort of sound, though it was almost inaudible.

"That there's Tal, he's my little brother. He doesn't talk at all yet." Deimos

explained.

Rabid Ice Weasel
"Oh, that's good. Yeah, crutches are a...well...you know,"

she said and smiled. When she heard Deimos say 'brother', though, her eyes returned to the

small spider child.

"Congrats, but...what in all Hell, Jizzy?!" Rabid whispered, a look of profound surprise

plastered on her face, "A Drider? I though you hated spiders!"

Ike's heart stopped for a moment. His ears folded all the way back, and his eyes

grew wide as saucers. Little brother? The spider boy was white-ish...and had big pointy

ears...and even a long tuft of fur on his head. Ike snivelled. He'd been replaced!

"Home," he murmured sadly and sat cross-legged on the ground, fiddling with Skelly's

tie.

Jizzy Jazz
Jizzy seemed to shrink slightly. "So you know what he's called.. I

didn't know what a drider was when I adopted him.." Her tone was low. "I'm not going to leave

him though.. I..I'm gonna try to ger over my fear, or. something.."

"Home.. Sounds boring.." He said, starting on another spire. "Tal, pass me that

block." He said, pointing to a bleu block by Tal.

The small child offered no resisteance and passed the block meekly over to

Deimos, before turning back to gaze at Ike. He was an interesting bigthing, all white and

pretty.

"So now I have two brothers. You're my big lil bro and Tal is my lil lil bro.

That means Tal is your lil bro too." He explained, toppng of a few flags a top the

spires.

Rabid Ice Weasel
"Yeah...conquer your fears," Rabid laughed, "Remember, I'm

always open for babysitting...just in case it's too much some days." Conquering fears was

horribly difficult, she knew. She didn't much like the idea of having to pull Ike out of a

tree. Especially a tall one.

Ike snorted and cocked his head to one side. It took him a moment to undertand but,

when he did, a small smile flickered onto his face. So he wasn't being replaced after

all.

"S'now Ike a big brother too," he smiled down at Tal and patted the boy affectionately,

"Cool."

Jizzy Jazz
She nodded and looked at her watch.. "Oh, Deimos, could you bring

Tal over here?" She said softly.

Deimos looked up from his castle, rolled his eye, but obliged, picking up Tal

and carring him to Jizzy, leaving him there and returning to Ike. "He's ok. Too quiet though."

Deimos explained, handed an assortment of blocks to Ike. "The corner spire eeds to be

finished."

Jizzy seemed to shrink slightly as Tal was placed in her lap, but she held strong. Her

breathing raced as she dug into the bag at her side and pulled out a baby bottle apparently

filled with bootle. With a shaking hand she placed it in Tal's mouth, who began to drink. "I..

I.. have to be.. careful.. he.. he never asks for anything.. he's very quiet so. I have to make

sure.. he.. he.. eat on time.." Jizzy voice was shaking like mad.

Rabid Ice Weasel
Rabid placed a hand on Jizzy's arm and shook her head.

"Calm down," she snerked, "He's little yet. It'll get easier." She hoped that this fear

wouldn't carry on past the point when Tal would understand.

"Err...okee," Ike took the blocks and began carefully arranging them to help the

corner tall-thing match the other tall-things, "Why we need spy-rees?"

In truth, he didn't even know what Dei had been building.

Jizzy Jazz
Jizzy was shaking fiercely, yet as an impuse, rushing he fingers

through Tal's hair. There was something about hair that calmed her, no idea why. "I just.. It's

hard.. I.. I.. I have my reasons for being scared and I.. I. it's been years.." She whispered.

Tal finished his bottle and exteneded a small hand to give it back to Jizzy. He

felt her shaking and nuzzled softly into her lap, his remaining legs curled up around

him.

"Because it's a castle, all castles have spires. They try to keep the castle

safe from pirates like us." Deimos explained as he topped of another spide with a

flag.

Rabid Ice Weasel
"I figured," Rabid said, looking down at the child

cautiously, "but that's no average spider. He's just...an eight-legged little boy." She smiled

and pet Tal's head. He was kinda cute, actually.

"Oh," Ike nodded, "Psh. Castles can't keep Ike and Reid and...and...pirates and

Captain Dei out. We too big and strong." Yeah, so he didn't know the rest of the crew of if

Reid was even a pirate. He swished his tail at the thought of breaking down the walls of a

full-scale castle. It sounded like fun. He could only imagine the amout of red st--no.

He stopped himself before he got too excited.

Jizzy Jazz
"That's kinda the approach I've been taking.." She whispered, her

voice still trembling. "And it's been kind of hard since I twisted my ankle right before I got

him."

Tal sort of shuffled as Rabid petted his hand, shrinking closer to Jizzy. He'd

peek out from his arms from tiem to time at Rabid. She ahd such crazy hair, that one.

Deimos nodded. "You got it! We're strong pirates and no catsle walls are gonna

keep us away from treasure, right?"

Rabid Ice Weasel
"See? It'll work eventually, I promise," Rabid half-smiled,

and then leaned down to Tal's height. She'd seen him eyeing her cautiously, and could imagine

only her hair being the culprit.

"Look," she whispered to the boy and stretched a curl down. It reached almost to her knee. She

then let it apring back up, and smiled sweetly. Freakin' curly hair. Why'd she have to have it?

"Right!" Ike agreed and sat back, admiring the small castle. He saw little people

inside its walls and battling outside, falling off like flies at the hands of Captain Dei and

his mighty pirate army. The image faded, though, as he looked up to Dei.

"Why we storm castles in the first place, Dei?"

Jizzy Jazz
Tal giggled. Crazy hair was fun. He raised up his

arms feebly, retracted them shyly, then raised them up again. He wanted to play with the pretty

hair.

Jizzy smiled faintly and continued to pet Tal's hair. "He's a dear though.."

"Because we're pirates, and pirates look for treasure. Castles have lots of

treasure, though I'm not sure if this one does. This one is just practice for a real castle.

Real castles are HUGE!" He extended his arms out to show thr sheer size of

it.

Rabid Ice Weasel
"Awwww," Rabid cooed, "Sure is." Little ones were so cute...

She reached up and pulled down a handful of her curls, offering them to Tal. He didn't seem the

type to remove hair by the root, although she probably wouldn't mind if he was.

"Oooooo," Ike's eyes grew wide. He then thought for a moment, his brow furrowing in

concentration. He removed a couple of blood candies from his pocket and placed them carefully

into the centre of the castle.

"There. Now it does."

Jizzy Jazz
Tal reached up and gripped some of the curls, a

soft smile on hsi face. He tugged them down, not the whole way down, then let the go. He

giggled as they sprung up. He reached up and did i again and again. This was fun.

Jizzy was smiling much more broadly now. "He seems to like playing with hair. It's no good with

me since mine's kinda short."

Deimos smiled. "Excellent." He said and finsihed by placing little green

soldiers all around the castle. "Mother!" He cried out and Jizzy gave a small sigh and sent a

flicker of magic over to the castle. The figures sprnag to life and began to pelt Dei and Ike

with small tiny, and rather harmless, plastic pellets. "We charge!!"

Rabid Ice Weasel
"I can see that," Rabid giggled, and then turned her head

toward her son, not moving her head enough so as to allow Tal to continue his...hair-tugging.

Once she was sure that Ike and Dei were quite alright, she turned back to the Drider.

Ike got down on all fours, in kind of a doggy 'play' position, and was promptly shot

in the nostril by a little green man. Everything went sharp as he laughed and lunghed forward,

smashing the toy under his palm and growling slightly.

Jizzy Jazz
Jizzy smiled and rushed fingers through her hair. 'I could never

stand to have it long though.."

Tal was full out laughing as hee tugged and tugged, but once he tugged

especially hard, ready to rip the heair right out. Not that he knew he was hurting

anyone.

Deimos smirked and swiped at the soldier. Ten of them flew all over, the rest

still pelting Deimos and Ike with pellets. He growls as he charged for the wall, the men

grabbing at his feet to stop him.

Rabid Ice Weasel
"I don't really like having it long either, but...ouch," she

cringed when Tal removed a bit of her hair, "but I can't quite help it." She watched as the

tiny bald spot was fairly quickly filled in with more strands of obscenely curly dark brown

hair.

"Now, be careful," Rabid half-smiled down at Tal, "We don't want to hurt anyone, now, do we?"

Ike looked over toward Dei and began loping at the castle on all fours, his ears

folded back. He ignored the toys' protests. Once he reached the outer wall, he kneeled and

whipped it with his wildly swishing tail.

Jizzy Jazz
Tal gave a small squee of delight and began to play

with the strands of hair he had. He's strech them out and in then out and in, but being a babe

led to have a rather short attention span, so he soon reached up a small hand at Rabid, giving

the hair back.

"Oh. It's from being part vampire, yes? I think your curls are amzing though. If I grow my hair

out, it sort of curls, but not nicely at all." Jizzy said.

Deimos smirked wider. 'Good move!' He siad and followed Ike's lead, crumbling a

wall with a large swipe of his rather pointed tail.

Rabid Ice Weasel
"Thank you," Rabid smiled and took her hair back before

turning to Jizzy and blushing, "Mmhm, and thanks. It wasn't always all...freakin'...ringlet-y.

The night I stopped growing, it went crazy. Same with the eyes. They used to be hazel."

She shuddered at the thought. It had hurt...quite a bit. But, of course, it had to

happen when she was 18...dooming her to be forever carded where ever she went.

Ike then elected to swipe at the castle, his long fingers taking down quite a few

blocks. He giggled, eyeing the rubble-covered 'treasure' he'd put in there

earlier.

Jizzy Jazz
Tal gave a small smiled and curled up on Jizzy

again, yawning and drifting off on another of his many naps.

"The only difference between me and me at 15 was my hair was longer then, so.. I couldn't

really relate." SHe siad witha small shurgg and a pat on her friend's shoulder.

Deimos made a wild charge at the castle, ignoring the pellets and snattched the

cnadies into his hand. As ssonas he did the soldiers died down and Deimos raised his hand in

triumph.
Rabid Ice Weasel
Rabid smiled down at the tired

arachnid and turned to Jizzy.

"I still don't quite understand why it happened, I mean...I still breathe. I still have a

pulse." She then raised 2 fingers to her neck, just in case...

Ike peered around and looked up toward the victorious captain. He clapped and

cheered, making loud whistling noises from between his oddly-spaced

teeth.

Jizzy Jazz
"I don't undersatdn why lots of things happen, but half the time

you'll only hurt yourself trying to figure it out." She said with a small shrug.

Deimos made a sweeping bow and tossed one of the candies to Ike. "Another

succesful raid for Catain Deia nd his crew!" He said, plopping a candy into his own

mouth.

Rabid Ice Weasel
"Exactly," Rabid said, relieved by her faint heartbeat, "I

don't think about it a whole lot." She never did. In fact, she never even had until the

whole hair conversation started.

Ike attempted to catch the candy with his left hand, but it went through his

fingers, and he instead grasped it in his right. He then pulled on each side of the wrapper and

placed the candy in his mouth. That was quite a bit easier than using his teeth to open

them...

Jizzy Jazz
Jizzy smiled faintly and looked at the clock. 'Oh dear.. Sorry

Rabid, but I have to go.. I'm expecting a call from my managers about my ankle." SHe said

moving and making a reach for her crutches. "Deimos, come get your brother please." SHe said.

Deimos looked over and gave a small sigh. "Well Ike's. I got to go. Don't be a

stranger, k." SHe said ruffled up Ike's hair and took his brother into his arms, elading the

crippled Jizzy out of the room.

~Rabid For Hire~

Poe lay against the telephone, napping deeply, which was probably why he rocketed across the room when it rang.

Briiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing. Briiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing.

Rabid groaned and stood from her pants-mending, almost tripping over the frenzied little dragon.

Briiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing. Briiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing.

"Ike got it!" Malachi bounded across the room, Skelly still in hand, and picked up the phone.

"HELL-o, m'name's Ike and I..." he trailed off as his ears folded back and his eyes grew wide. He nervously handed the phone to Mummy and just stood there, watching.

Rabid took the phone and was greeted by a waterfall of vaguely familiar words.

"Woah, woah, woah, lady!" she said and laughed, "Slow down! Who is this?"

"I em sorry," a thickly accented voice drawled, "Is zis Miss Char-lit Deiv-rox?"

"Uh...yes, this is Charlotte Devreaux, yes," Rabid scoffed, "What do you want?"

"Zis is Haila Vendex frum ze Mei-Varr poob-lish-ink company. I vas told zat yuh spoke Vavvian. Ve need a trans-lay-tourr."

Rabid was becoming increasingly confused, but she answered hesitantly, "Ya, Ji pai'e Vavvian. Cu so jai'e?"

"Ah! An-e diar ju-so navie! Nu'soe hai nedur pai'e pesurr nai'e. Ojan?"

"Ya! Kiffe diar?"

"Mende Unt Zavajar."

"Ya! Ya! Parlee jinae kin!"

"Kin? Ya. Bla-e!"

"Bla-e!" Rabid's expression had turned from confusion to complete and utter glee as she hung up the phone. She grabbed Ike and lifted him into the air, spinning around and then hugging him tightly.

This gesture further confused the little boy. Mummy spoke that crazy gibberish too?! Weird!

"Mummy?!" he said, his tail twitching, "Whass going on?"

"Ike, honey!" Rabid collapsed back onto her bed, happy tears streaming down her face, "The city where Mummy used to live needs her to translate a book for them. They're offering her a lot of money!"

"Yay!" Ike cried and hugged Mummy. She'd been complaining a lot about being poor which, he had figured out, meant they didn't have much money. If they didn't have money, they couldn't buy stuff. This was awesome news...especially after the night before. He'd had another nightmare in which the darkness attacked him.

Rabid exhaled and snuggled her son. They'd offered 2,000 Heldae, which was roughly equivalent to 20,000 gold. She'd finally be able to spoil her family...finally. She looked toward the table, where a large novel was appearing, surrounded by swirling light. She gave Ike a quick kiss on the forehead before scampering off and beginning to translate it. At this rate, she'd be done by 6.

~~~
Rabid almost cheered as she wrote down the last word in the novel, but then realized that Ike had been asleep for hours. She stapled the horrendously thick packet together and shoved it between the cover and first page of the novel itself. She drew a Vavvian symbol in the air and uttered the word it stood for. The novel was again surrounded by swirling light, and it disappeared along with her translation...and her stapler.
She sighed and shook her head, smiling. She slowly padded over the floor to the white wad of fur on her bed that was her son. She lay down behind him and wrapped her arms around him, almost immediately falling asleep.
~Out of the Poor House~
Rabid stood under the pelting spray of the shower head, finally feeling calmed. She scrubbed her hair almost violently, trying to work shampoo into the ringlets as she sang an old Vavvian aria. It wasn't that Vampires actually needed to take showers, lacking friction and all, but she found it comforting...mildly anyway. She was still horribly depressed...moreso than she ever could have imagine anything being. She fought back another one of the frequent waves of tears and sighed.
"Mummaaaaa!!!!"
Rabid stopped for a moment. Had she really heard what she thought she heard?
"MUMMAAAAA!!!!"
Fear gripped Rabid's heart as she turned off the water and shook her head, immediately squeakly clean and quickly drying. She pulled a towel out of the cabinet and wrapped it around herself, quickly running out into the main room.
"Mummy!" Ike said, his eyes wide and his ears folded back. He was pointing to the dinner table.
Seeing that her son was alright, Rabid's heart began to slow. She slowly turned her head toward the table beside her, and her heart began beating hard and fast again. On the table sat a large purple silk bag, tied with a ribbon. Thin trendils of light still swirled around it as the woman approached. She gently removed a small paper card laying beside it.
Thank you for your services.
Rabid smiled slightly, the best reaction she could gather at this point. She walked toward the phone and dialed the number for another room in the HQ. It was time to get out in the world again.
~Clinical Depression~
Rabid lay on her bed, staring at the ceiling with her hands folded over her stomach.
"I hope so - she's all I've got. And I want to meet Lenore..."
She hadn't eaten in days. She hadn't slept either. She couldn't.
"Cripes, you're never gonna let it go, are ya?"
It just kept playing over and over in her mind. She didn't know why it was affecting her so greatly.
"If I'd known you better, I might have loved you."
Yes she did...
She quickly grabbed her mp3 player, trying to drown out her thoughts. She scrolled around and selected a random song.
*...let his flesh not be torn.
Let his blood leave no stain.
Though they beat him,
Let him feel no pain.
Let his bones never break,
And however they try,
To destroy him,
Let him never die.
Let him never die.
Eleka nahmen nahmen.
Ah tum ah tum eleka nahmen.
Eleka nahmen nahmen.
Ah tum ah tum eleka...eleka...ugh!
What good is this chanting?
I don't even know what I'm reading!
I don't even know which trick I ought to try.
Fiyero, where are you?
Already dead, or bleeding?
One more disaster I can add to my,
Generous supply?...*
"Oh, for the love of...!" Rabid sighed threw herself into her pillow, sobbing and setting the song on a constant loop...
Rabid doesn't own Wicked, etc. etc.
