"Absolutely! And I could fix all that for you!" exclaimed Talos, giddy with excitement. A million ideas were already running through his head. He would reinvent the ketchup dispenser, never mind that a few bright minds had already taken a crack at the problem. And then there were the billion or so ideas for things he had never gotten the chance to implement. People had declared those ideas unfeasible, unnecessary. Not any more. This could be the perfect testing ground.

"Hey, whatever works," said the girl, a little bewildered that he was so excited to get the chance to fix the ketchup dispenser and the hot drink machine. "You want to mess things up with the janitor, go ahead, I'll still be here."

"I'm sure they won't mind. I mean, what was the point of all that fighting if not to earn the right to do as we want?" Talos said cheerily. "I can design buildings and make sculptures, and if I want to muck around in the school you have here, I'm sure they'll let me." Possibly because he knew Greyhaven was on the board of directors, and like all who bore her designation, she would let Talos do whatever he wanted. It was nice to have an in with the person most often perceived as "the boss."

It still went a bit over her head, but the redhead shrugged amicably. "Well, hey, go to it," she said, "if the stuff stops running crappily I'll buy you a Coke or something. You drink Coke? Yeah, you drink Coke."
Obviously having decided this was ample reward, Jace said: "It's a deal, kid. You and me, we're in."

"Agreed," grinned Talos. Thoughts of a new and bright future were racing through his head. "I'll hold you to that Coke! I, uh, better get back to fixing this, though. I promise I'll have the A/C back up and running before the end of the day." Talos rubbed his nose again, grinning like a fool.

"Yeah, you do that," Jace agreed, and she cuffed him on the shoulder again lightly. "Then you can put the janitor out of a job and we'll feed him into the meat grinder in the basement where all the bad kids get put. I better get back to class. See you, short stuff. Adios."
And then she sauntered off.

"See you, Jace," said Talos, collecting his things and heading away tot he next site. He would talk to Greyhaven just as soon as he finished the repair job.
