"It's easy to scare cubs," Doto said with a sagacious nod. He liked the way Giza's mind was moving, though. Perhaps this could be their next grand caper together. Or perhaps in the future, when they were both older, they would be able to terrify a lion that did not seem capable of such fear. Something to be really proud of. He grinned and decided to share his thoughts, despite pushing his father's patience by being away from the cave.
"One day we'll find a lion and we'll make him as scared as that rabbit. We'll break him. I can focus on his mind, if you don't care, and you can play with his body for your art. He'll be no better than the other things we've killed. And we'll leave him alive, to share our story. And it'll be the start of our reputation."
He grinned, standing and moving languidly in the direction of his den, tail swishing behind him. He was in no hurry now, his mind on other, more entertaining things.
"Our fathers wouldn't be able to be mad at us for something like that, right? Mine wouldn't know what to do, and yours sounds like he would approve."

"He would be so proud... none of my sisters or my brother would be able to come up with something so creative... so fun... so new... so much more." Oh yes, she liked that idea. And if she and Doto did it together, then her father might not even be angry at her for trusting an outsider.
But she couldn't help it. She liked Doto. She liked how his mind worked. She liked that while she attacked a creature's body, he went after their minds. It made them a good team, and team work was key. Especially when you didn't get your fun out of killing your victims.
"We won't just find one lion Doto..." She whispered, flat-out excited now, "We'll find many... and we'll be feared, and we'll be respected..." She grinned, "And everyone will recognize what we've done. That no one can hurt another creature like you and I can." She dreamed big... and now the dream had more sustinance to it.
Even if her dream was any other creature's nightmare.
"And no one will be able to stop us."

Doto grinned.
"That sounds like a plan to me," he said, nodding. He circled back to her, getting close enough to look directly into her eyes. He wanted to be sure she meant it, his own red eyes blazing with intent and passion. The reflection looking back at him was one he approved of. He knew he could trust Giza, and that, barring no interference from his family, they would one day accomplish their goals.
It was thrilling, to suddenly be so sure of his future. Of course he had known he was capable of something great the moment he realized he was not quite the same as his siblings. Yet this was exciting in a whole new way. He could hardly wait until the day they were old enough, practiced enough, and powerful enough to start this twisted escapade.
Nodding, he turned once again and headed for his den, tail flicking behind him as he moved. No one would be able to stop them. Her words echoed in his head. It was a true statement. If they remained strong and certain, there was nothing that would be able to deter them. childishly excited about something most adults would find horrifying, Doto found himself bounding a little as he walked.
"We'll meet again soon!" He called back to her, his voice reflecting his almost giddiness, "and we'll work on it all! This is for you and me, Giza! We'll be different, better, than everyone!"
With that he bounced and, without loathing it so entirely now that his mood had been lifted, headed for home.

Giza could only grin and look back. Her destiny had always been certain, it had been drilled into her by her father and the rest of her family since birth... but for the first time, she didn't feel so alone in the world. Someone else wanted what she wanted. Not just to be a feared killer... but simply to be feared and respected, always.
"It's just you and me Doto!" She called after him, waving as he went, then she sat back on her haunches, a grin cracking across her face like a wicked jack-o-lanturn, "Just you and me."
And it did seem very promising.
...But now she was tired and wanted to sleep. But they would meet again. And it couldn't be too soon.
