Calum's heart did a little jump as he got an idea of what his present might be. His dark blue eyes looked over the guitar before rising up to stare into Syd's eye. In preparation for the song he knew was coming, he turned to face the other man as his ears shifted to a better position for listening. He tilted his head. It was strange to see his love nervous like this, and it reminded him of when they first met.

Syd placed his fingers along the strings, glancing and placing them accordingly. Without realising it, he flicked his hair infront of his face, something he'd do when he was nervous. Usually he had no problem preforming...but, the song, and who it was for, sent his nerves haywire. He fidgeted for a moment, thinking to himself before taking a deep breath and starting to play.
The first few chords were awkward, so he started over with a, "Sorry..." This time it was much more fluid, and he got lost in it, his ears releasing themselves from their insecure, pinned back state, and his blush faded, and he became calm, losing himself in the music and the images it produced in his head. "Oh, Mr.Electric Man," He sang, his voice soft and breathy, fitting the music perfectly. "I'm sure you came to fix me, I was frozen."

He watched Syd, entranced by the movements of his fingers as the plucked at the cords. The sound of the waves softly crashing against the shore were tuned out as Calum focused solely on Syd. His ears flicking as they soaked in the sound of Syd's voice and his playing.

A rickety train ran along a track, surrounded by trees, tall and green, as a river flowed below. Though his eyes were open, they were not seeing, or at least not seeing what he was staring at. They saw the image of the train, as it chugged it's way through. "Oh, Electric Man, don't go so fast, stay with me a while."
He blinked, plucking gently at the strings. Something he had a knack for was that, he could create music from looking at something. Oh, the songs he got from Calum, all of them were light, blissful and flowly, like how he felt around the other male. This one came to him as he gazed upon his lover, though, now, as the train ran through his head, he wondered where it came from. It was a scene from his childhood, something he saw long ago. "Oh, first time I saw you, I felt it could be, oh Electric Man, please come fix me, I am frozen. From all those years, I am frozen, hard as stone and cold as ice, stay with me a while, rewind those years, oh my lovely Electric Man."
He wrapped up his song and blushed deeply, easing himself back into reality. He stared at the ground, before looking up at Calum and letting out a modest, "Yeah...it's pretty crappy..."

As he listened to the song, Calum's turned off so that it could simply lose it's self in the plucks of the guitar strings and his lover's voice. When the song ended, his mind slowly drifted back into focus and he stared into Syd's eyes. He shook his head and smiled as he said, "It wasn't crappy Syd, it was lovely. Did you write it?"

He blushed, nodding and figdeting like a little kid, "Yus..." He said, with a nervous laugh. "I'm glad you liked it...you're the first one thats heard it...though I suppose it's fitting, since I wrote it for you..." He bit his lip, grabbing the paper, which was scribbled all over, an aweful lot for seven lines. There were words crossed out, chord variations and strange notes written all over it, including random doodles of chickens and dinosaurs. He handed it to Calum, "You can have these, love...I've got it memorized..." He muttered, "And if you ever want to hear it again, I'll play it for you...anytime." He looked up, smiling, and though he felt a little corny and chliche, he was relieved he hadn't embarassed himself.

"For me?" Calum's cheeks flushed a light shade of pink as his smile took on an almost shy tone. He took the paper from Syd and traced a doodle of a chicken with his finger. Now he knew how all those girls who got poems from their boyfriends felt. He leaned over and placed a soft kiss on his love's cheek and said, "Thank you."

Syd nodded, smiling softly as Calum's blush. "As for the other suprise...well..." He blushed, "Well, you can have it whenever you want too."

The urge to say that he wanted it now rose up, but he quickly shoved it back down. He felt like a bit like an over eager child who wanted to open a Christmas present. He shook his head and reached for the basket. "I have something for you first."

He reached in and pulled out the black gift box that held something that had been preciouse to him for most of his life, his first book. A collection of Grimm fairy tales with a black leather cover. The pages showing signs of wear, from all the times that he read it over and over when he had learned to read. But despite the sign of wear, the cover gleamed almost like was new, showing that it had been taken care of. He set the box in front of Syd and nervousely fidgeted.

Syd watched Calum, setting his guitar to the side. His tail flicked about and his ears perked curiously as he saw Calum pull out the box and set it infront of him. He stared at the box for a moment before picking it up, and opening it carefully. His ears perked up as he stared at the book inside, picking it up gingerly when he saw all the signs of wear. He opened it, gazing over the pages in a mezmorized manner. He looked up to Calum and grinned, "This is neat."

"It was my first book." He scootched closer to Syd, his tail sliding over to wrap around his love's tail. His hand twitched, the one not holding the song lyrics, as itrested in his lap. "I wasn't sure if it would be a good gift or not, but I wanted to give you something. And that is the only thing I could think of..."

He trailed off when he realized he was beginning to ramble.

Syd blinked, looking back down at the book as he ran a hand over it, "Wow..." He muttered, an amazed look spreading across his face, "Your first book, like from when you were a kid?" He grinned widely, wrapping his tail around Calum's as he carefully set the book next to the guitar, "It's wonderful." He said, "Really...it's a neat gift. Better than mine..." He shrugged, hugging Calum happily. He pulled off and gazed at him, "So...this means it's my turn again?"

Calum nodded, then frowned slightly. He hugged the lyrics to his chest. "I really liked your song, it made me feel...special."

His ears perked up, noticing the slight frown. He wrapped an arm around Calum and nuzzled him happily, "Special? Really?" He asked, a bit flattered. "The book is nice...I mean, you had it when you were a kid...and now I have it. I bet you were cute..."

"Yes, very special. Nobody has ever done anything like this for me before." He leaned his over and rested it on Syd's shoulder, the tuft of one of his brushing against the other man's cheek. "And no I wasn't, I was a scrawny little thing. My head looked like it was to big for my body."
