"Oh," she said softly as she was brought close. Anna didn't mind it at all, but he was rendered speechless. Pyralis always had something to say... Her heart raced even faster.
Knowing what bothered him as beyond words, she looked to his thoughts, where everything was already painfully laid out for her to examine.

The visions and recalled feelings left her speechless as well. To hear her own dying voice, to understand her own dying body, was something she had only encountered once. But to hear her words? She was disgusted.

Anna put her arms around him as well, and began to stroke his face and hair in a soothing fashion.
"Dearest... I would never forsake you. Never. And I know that you would never harm me. You never would, even you know that..."

She sounded so calm and sure. It eased away a bit of the darkness that had settled over him, but it still clung like a dark shadow. Pyralis never had nightmares, not even as a boy. This was such a horrible one and he had no idea as to what brought it on. His mine was still frantic and confused. Anna was his anchor and he clung to her and the light she provided.

"I can't lose you Anna. I'm so sorry, so very sorry, my love." Pyralis believed in her goodness and that she would never forsake him as she said, but what if he truely became the monster? "I'm sorry." He was sorry for himself, but also that he couldn't offer her an answer to his behavior. His love surely saw him as a pathetic boy frightened in the night when he was suppose to be a strong warrior. Wasn't he suppose to protect her?

His eyes had remained opened, but he closed them for a second...and they snapped right back open. A too-familiar cackle and face flashed in his mind.

"There is nothing to apologize for," she said with the utmost love. Anna felt close to tears with his pleading and fright, but in moments like this, she had to rise to the occasion to be strength for them both. She allowed him to cling for another moment before slowly backing away from his embrace, but not from him completely.

Her soft hands took his face, and her eyes searched for his. "You will sleep the rest of the night here, alright? But for now, try to calm yourself. I am here, I am safe. You've done no harm, and all is well." As her thumb stroked his cheek, Anna began thinking of ways she could calm him. Did he like tea? Did he grow cold at night? So many things she didn't know, that she needed to know for the moment at hand as well as their future.

Pyralis knew he should turn down her offer and go to his own bed but he needed her. He needed to see her safe and sound. Reaching up, he traced her face and with a heavy sigh fell back onto a pillow. Just for the one night.

"I love you Anna, more than anything in any realm." His eyes lingered on her face, letting her very being calm him. Sighing again he half-smiled, which turned out as more of a grimace. "I know it's silly, my love, but I don't think I can sleep just now. I don't want to lose sight of you." His strong hand reached out to the elf's and took it gently.

"Nonsense. None of this is silly, not in the least." The elf reclined at his side with a sleepy smile, but if he wasn't about to sleep, then there was still calming to be done. "But is there anything I can get for you? A mug of tea, a cool cloth?" Still with a smile, she let her questions continue. "Do you grow cold at night? And do you snore?"
Gentle fingers moved his hair from his face so she could see his markings. How she loved that face, and how she wanted to see a true smile on it again.

How patient she was with him. "I need nothing, A'mael." He gave her hand a squeeze. "Just you, you and your voice guide me through the storm." Anna's voice was always beautiful. Pyralis could listen to it forever and never grow tired of it's musical quality.

He knew he should sleep. They both needed the rest. Poor Anna, and here he was keeping her awake. The option of feigning sleep was avaliable...then again, she would most likely be able to see past his lie.

Anna feigned an agitated sigh before plopping down at his side. "Oh, well." At least he wasn't demanding and still frantic. All he wanted, dear thing, was to stay by her side.
She turned her face towards him. The moonlight coming through her two large sliding doors illuminated his chest, particularly a large scar. She couldn't imagine the pain he must have gone through, so many, many times, it seemed.
"Is this the one from your story?" Anna asked, pointing lightly to it. "Or is this from some other venture I have yet to cringe at?"

As she waited for his voice, Anna took a corner of a pillow and settled it between his arm and side so she could be close to him as they slept.

This actually issued a light chuckle from him. Finally. "That is the one from my story." He took the hand she pointed with and gentley led the finger over the large scar on his chest, tracing directly over his heart. Her hand was brought to rest lightly over the thump of his beating heart. "The rest hold a story for you to cringe at later." Another chuckle followed by a sigh as he released her hand.

"Alright, my dear Anna. I believe a may be able to be a good dragon now. You're here and all is well." If he just kept repeating it, he could get through this. The fact that he had had a nightmare still bothered him, but he was too tired to think about it just yet. Anna was at his side. Using an age-old technique, he concentrated on each part of his body and slowly released the tension from each muscle and joint. Eyes closed and his breathing slowly deepened, though he remained awake. "I love you."

Soft brown eyes watched as he led her fingers across the old wound. What an incredible man he was not to become disheartened by all he had seen and suffered. And even though her hand had been released, Anna kept her palm over the beat of his strong heart.

"Yes, all is well. I'll chase your nightmares away if they dare try to return." Her light would see to it that they didn't even try. As she watched Pyralis release his tensions, her heart grew lighter. Anna felt... fulfilled. Her very presence was helping the man she loved, and he had said it all. He loved her. "And I love, you, too. My A'mael."

Earlier Pyralis had said that her voice was enough for him to get through the storm... which gave her an idea.
Readjusting herself slightly so that she could stroke his brow but still be resting, Anna began to hum a sweet elven lullaby, one reserved, by an unspoken rule, for those who the singer cared about most. The humming eventually gave way to words.
Although quiet, her voice still carried well, and although a bit nervous as she had never sang to him before, Anna knew her song would bring her beloved dragon into a peaceful sleep.

Pyralis listened closely to her song. The lullaby was written beautifully and sung by his love. Sensing her slight nerves, he sent reassurance to her mind as his own started to wind down even more. Just as she knew it would, her singing caused a peaceful sleep to come upon the man beside her. The darkness that had crept up on him in the night was taken away and replaced with his love's light. It all showed on his face, now relaxed with a gentle curve to his lips as he smiled in his sleep. It was her face he saw, but this time it wasn't in pain. Anna smiled this time and all was well.

Anna only stopped humming her lullaby when she knew his breathing and expression were one with sleep. His reassurance was wonderful as well, because even though she had been told many times that she had a beautiful voice (years of living gave her the time to obtain one), she was terribly afraid of being laughed at. But, there he was, sleeping. And with a smile, no less.

Her own eyes closed after she extended an arm over his middle. Pyralis' warmth was enough to keep most of her cozy, not to mention his smell was always a comfort to her. Sleep would come upon her rather quickly. Thoughts of his nightmare did worry her, though. Even in the silence, Anna could hear his heart-rending cry to the skies... No doubt it was that creature's doing. But, it was not time to dwell. He would be there when she woke. They would sort out any dark remnants then, if any at all.

Anna had wonderful dreams.

---

Morning came all too quickly, it seemed. It being Saturday, Anna had nothing pressing to attend to, and usually allowed herself to sleep in then. The thought had never occurred to her that Pyralis would need an alarm clock, and hopefully he didn't, but she wouldn't worry about that.

Anna's eyes opened to see rays of morning sun coming in through her window. Despite their appearance of warmth, she knew the world outside was growing colder. It would begin to snow soon, making her want Pyralis' never-ending warmth all to herself.

Pyralis was still by her side, as she knew he would be. He still looked peaceful, and happy. What a relief that was for her. Anna wouldn't wake him, though. It would ruin her chance to watch him sleep.

Slowly the dragon started to wake in what had become a natural way to him. His eyes remained closed and he felt the air around him, feeling for the other in the room and assesing his current health. Satisfied, he opened his eyes and the first thing they rested on were the eye's of his love. A half-smile surfaced as he took in her morning beauty. He then sighed and stretched.

"Good morning my dear Anna." Propping himself up on his elbow, he shook his head. "What you must think of your mighty dragon now."

Anna smiled and stretched in a sleepy fashion, still reclined on the bed.
"I think my dragon is very, very nice to cuddle with, and is so full of love that a shocking dream sent him into a bit of a tizzy."

Truly she thought no less of him. Rather, she thought more. Pyralis wasn't the type to disregard a dream, or to deny when something disturbed him. Showing emotion and acting upon it, she thought, was actually a very brave thing indeed.

"How are you feeling? You look much better than you did last night."
PostPosted: Tue Dec 09, 2008 4:56 pm

"I do feel much better thanks to your loving care." His face remained peaceful as it had been in sleep, but it took on a more pensive look at this point. "What bothers me is the fact that I never have dreams like that." His eyes locked on hers with the truth of what he said. "Never, Anna. I just don't. If it had been a normal nightmare, I would think nothing of it, but..."

Pyralis shook his head. "It was the most real dream I've had in a very long time. The evil that surrounded it." The man was far from complaining. The dream bugged him on the level that he didn't understand it. What would have brought it on? His dear Anna had bid him goodnight and it should have been off to dreamland to see her.

"What do you know of dreams?"

Anna took him quite seriously as she listened intently. He had never had nightmares before... and suddenly, this horrific vision had been brought on. She had thought of possible causes last night, and could only reason out a few things. They were fairly spot-on in her mind.

"Well," she said, staring up at the ceiling for thought. "At first I believed that it was a nightmare in the basic sense. You're always so worried about maintaining control over your other half, and of losing me, that I supposed your mind combined and exploited the two fears, making it a close reality. But, I don't think that's quite it..."

Anna sat up slowly, rubbing her eyes to rid them of sleep. Her hair was pleasantly mussed as it always was in the mornings, but her eyes took on a bright light.

"I believe that your interference in the affairs of evil spirits has earned you a reprimand."
