At this point, Huojin was now walking side by side with Farsiris, and he found himself at a bit of a standstill. Here he was walking with his friend, and well, a companion he somewhat adored, and in truth he couldn't read her current reaction to him. Had he done something wrong? Should he have stepped away from her? Here he was attempted something rather extreme, though to him it felt only natural. Maybe he didn't consider her feelings enough?

He instinctively moved away from her, though only lightly so it didn't come off as jerkish. He allowed for a comfortable gap between the two of them, and that way all doubts could be solved and resolved. He'd never want to make her feel uncomfortable in any way, so he resisted any other thoughts that may have been too strong. Even still, he wondered if he should have asked...

"My apologies." he then said, in a light and kind voice. "I didn't want to startle you, I just thought you were chilly." Bleh, still he should have been more careful! "As much as caves can shield one from harsh winter days, I suppose even on hot days a cave can always be nice and cool." But alas, such was nature's wonders.

"I'll admit, it may be one of the things I strive for. But I have other goals that are of more importance." he then looked at Farsiris rather keenly, and brought his eyes away ever so quietly. "I mean, I have a goal to be a better stallion so I can catch the eye of a certain mare, but I seem to wonder what steps need to be taken to really become what I need to be. I want to be better because she is the best out there." He stiffened up then, and wondered if she knew who he was talking about.

If he was going to admit it, now was the time. No more pushing his thoughts away and what not- he needed to at least express to her what was really going on in his mind so the issue could be resolved somehow. And he knew, he would either walk away with something in his favor, and if not, he'd respect Farsiris of course! She was still his prized friend.

A part of her called out a silent 'boooo' as he parted from her, that rebellious streak within her disagreeing with his choices. Alas, she wasn't one to question another's behaviour and in order to preserve her dignity she chose to accept his decision to move away. This of course, didn't stop the outspoken part inside her from stomping it's hoof and ranting over the course of the next three minutes - aha, if only she could be quite so bubbly as other mares, then she could have expressed herself so much better. It wasn't that she lacked the confidence but she simply couldn't permit herself to impose on anyone.

...Contrary to what the rebel in her head said.

Nevertheless as he opted to apologise she gave a quick shake of her head and offered a slight smile. She hadn't meant to alarm him with her behaviour, but she could only control herself to a point. She had never experienced that type of contact before and therefore she hadn't a clue how to react. It wasn't his fault that she had stiffened or looked uncomfortable - really she was only trying to stop herself from stuttering like a fool in the following moments.

"You don't have to apologise, it was just unexpected," she reassured him with a quick bob of her head. "You were only trying to do what you thought was best, that's understandable even if it was sudden," she finished. She released a small chuckle through her parted lips and it was only then that she mulled over the words that he spoke of next. To say she wasn't a little disappointed (or jealous) of the mare he spoke of would have been a big lie. Aha, well she had always known that someone as bubbly as him wouldn't be without company for long.

Lucky her.

"She sounds wonderful," Farsiris offered softly and shook her head. "But if you're meant to be with her then she should like you for who you are. You shouldn't have the change to catch her sight, she should see you already..." she shrugged loosely, a small smile lining her lips. Perhaps this was the type of courtship they all chittered about with such fascination... the part where the mare pursued the female with all his might until she decided he was the one for her. It was a little cruel if she then decided he wasn't but all the same...

"Then again as I said before, if it's a goal you really wish to strive for then you should try your best. Just try not to think too hard about what you 'need' to be, the answers will come in time, you know?"

Well, at least she wasn't upset! That was always his greatest worry, since he was constantly trying to keep her happy. If he ever led her to feel uncomfortable, well, then he was a failure to them both. But alas, he wouldn't give up just yet! The one good trait about Huojin was that he was a fighter, and he was adamant about never giving up. Besides, he still had some explaining to do towards their current situation.

Speaking of which, he stared rather blankly as Farsiris spoke of 'such a mare'. It was his greatest fear, and she somehow wasn't putting two and two together. At first he thought he was coming off as too strong, but now Farsiris was seeing the complete opposite! What to do what to do, and as usual Huojin began to sweat lightly as he weighed in the possibilities. Should he just come right out and say it? Correct her on who the mare is?!

"Mm, she's beyond wonderful." he then said, while gluing his eyes in front of them. "Though, no matter what hints or tricks I pull, she doesn't seem to realize its her." Hm, and that was no good. Well, for him at least! "I'll admit, I used to put up a front to mares that I was overly confident. But in front of her, I don't need all of that unnecessary Jazz." He was slowly getting used to his -own- personality, and that was when he was hanging out with Farsiris.

"When I'm around this one mare, I only worry about acting perfectly since she always does just that. I get so nervous sometimes, but the nervousness is this happy bubbly feeling. She makes me want to go and strive to do great things, especially if they are for her." Heh, his mother would not believe what was coming out of his mouth.

"I don't know how to tell you more than, well, that you are that mare." And with that, he allowed for a big breath of air in, but his heart was pretty much exploded.

Farsiris didn't even believe the words coming out of his mouth! Forget a mentally unsettled mare, one who was perfectly coherent struggled to comprehend the declaration. This was the stuff of fairy tales, those adorable tales that were told to young fillies and colts to paint a wonderful picture of romance. Oho, but as life slowly moved forward and those children grew that innocence was lost and reality set in - this type of confession wasn't meant to exist... was it?

She was at a loss for words, completely and utterly.

It would have been a lie to claim that she hadn't initially been jealous of this nameless and faceless soquili. She had envied that soquili a great deal (much to her surprise). A tiny part of her had wished she had had the confidence to remain in the lowlands long enough to claim him herself and yet... What a surprise it was that it had turned out to be her! He had rocked her world and made a revelation that was even more astonishing than the moments in which her mentor had declared she was pregnant again...But she wasn't perfect, so how could his words relate to her?

Say something, silly!

She attempted to open her mouth and yet the only sound to escape was a rather dramatic sigh. She'd never been in the position before and her once steady legs felt rather like jelly, it was both uncomfortable and pleasant all at once. Admittedly she didn't like the prospect of keeling over but he had said he liked her - HER! Oho it should have come at no surprise that her internal voice gave a rather loud squee and proceeded to sprinkle confetti over every part of her mind. There was no way logic would be able to clear up that litter quite as quickly as it anticipated it could.

"M-me...?" She shook her head slowly and finally turned her gaze towards him. Her head tilted to one side and her expression morphed into one of both surprise and mild disbelief. "But I'm not perfect! A-are you sure it's me?"

"I-I-I..." she took a deep breath and closed her eyes briefly to regather her composure. "I mean I'm grateful but, you really mean it?"

Watching her struggle with the situation made him a tad nervous. He couldn't tell if she was happy, or reacting out in the bad way. Huojin was also worried because he wasn't sure if he had the right to like her. But even so, he was hoping that she was somewhat happy with the information and admittance from his heart. He had tried everything he could to convince her otherwise why she was the best mare around. And in his heart, she didn't even need the convincing, since he had already been convinced for quite awhile.

"Of course I really mean it." he then said, while smiling warmly. "But, is that alright with you? I mean, I think its one of those things that requires your permission, or at least your own opinion and consent..." he twitched his lip then and considered the possibility of her rejecting him or something. "What do you think of me? Along those same lines I mean.." He kept his eyes steady on hers, and his mind was definitely ready for any kind of reaction.

Though in truth, he would have preferred that she liked him back! But then, what if she was just being nice? If she didn't want to hurt his feelings, then he could see her saying she liked him still for other reasons and stuff. The tension was killing him, and he shook his head and felt a gloom arise around him. "I'll admit, I didn't want to come right out and say it since I would have preferred a better atmosphere to you're liking, but I couldn't hold it in anymore. What I feel for you is real and pure, and it keeps me motivated to do anything. Even blurt out something that may seem out of context! But it is one hundred percent in context for me. That's why, I only ask how it is for you." At this point he was feeling calm again, and a smoother voice was guiding them in the cave.

Her struggling was unavoidable! She was still so terribly naive to the ways of the world, she understood it in theory but to have it happen to her made her stagger. Oh she was over the moon, would have screamed at the top of her lungs if she hadn't been taught otherwise but this didn't make her reactions any better. As far as she was concerned, she had the right to stutter and look utterly astonished by his declaration. He could struggle with her reaction for a little while longer until she had fully come to terms with what he had to say!

"Oh my goodness," she murmured at last, heaving a rather heavy sigh as her gaze refocused and she found her eyes back on his face. However when she saw his warm smile, despite the somewhat sheepish features she did melt a little. Guilty for her own reasons, she offered a small smile of her own and cleared her throat as he finally began to speak again. So he really meant it? He wasn't just doing what the males of her herd warned her about, he wasn't painting a pretty picture...

"You need my permission to like me?" she asked suddenly, her expression clouding with confusion before she shook her head again and chuckled. "You're allowed to have your own feelings Huojin," she came to a halt and pursed her lips, her gaze remaining fixed on him. She wasn't sure how to best express herself when it came to his next question though, it had been very direct.

"I got jealous when I thought it was another mare," she murmured softly, somewhat embarassed by her confession but she felt it was the best way to express herself. She didn't know how to say she liked him! So perhaps informing him that she had been jealous would do the same thing? She wasn't sure given that the entire situation was new to her but she had opted to take the idea and run with it. "I thought she was very lucky but, I still envied her..."

"Its impossible for it to be any other mare." he then admitted, while glancing at her gently and with patience. "I mean, I'd be crazy if I could even look at another mare. But its true, you've had my gaze and attention since we first met. Even though that was young adornment at first sight, I decided to chase after you, and up here. And the reason my arrival started off so badly and grumpily is because I was terrified for you to see me in such a weak state." At this point he was only chuckling, since that part was thankfully lost and over. "I just... wasn't sure if you'd ever feel the same way. But spending time together like this, I decided to give it a shot. I started to feel like I had a chance of being that stallion."

After pausing a second, he looked at her closely and decided to make a very subtle move. If she rejected, he could always pull away suddenly, and not do it again until she wished. But if she liked it, well, he'd be thrilled. And in truth, he'd be fine with either of those options! So with that, he moved his face in and gently nuzzled the tip of her nose, but after only a few seconds, he brought his face back with a light smile. The nuzzle was only there to instigate the truth behind his earlier words! He'd seen his mother and father do it before, and it looked so cute.

But her face.. it was so petite and lovely and soft! He could do that sort of thing all day! Suddenly shrugging those crazy thoughts away, he decided to focus on his current moment and worry about THAT sort of novelty and self-perversion later. He was not a scoundrel even if he was a young stallion!

"I'm not really sure what to do from here, but I am relieved to finally spill the truth. I feel... so much lighter, and less nervous. You basically know my big secret now! So at least I won't be as fidgety or anything. Well I mean... I'll probably still have my moments.." Speaking of which, he only laughed then and realized he was doing it again. "I dunno, I'm just so happy! But what about you?"

He had promised he wouldn't be fidgety and yet here he was giving a giggle and a nervous laugh. Endless chatter that was so like him... Really if he had opted to be calm and silent it would have been more unsettling than enjoyable! Silence and complete serenity weren't really something the mare had ever really associated with Huojin even in her meetings with him, he was so lively and hospitable that she had always assumed he was a social butterfly. Yet as he explained himself she couldn't help but melt just a little more and felt near staggering point at some of his words.

It was such a fairy tale! Eeeee!

A ghost of a shy smile appeared on her lips as he continued, carefully reassuring her piece by piece that she shouldn't be in doubt. He had chosen her on that fateful day she had wandered down from the mountain and now Farsiris began to wander if her mentor had known all along! Everyone deserved a happy ending, she had always been taught that but to assume it would happen to her was mind boggling in itself.

Not that she was disappointed.

"You say it would be impossible but you never know," she pointed out wisely before dropping the subject. He had said enough to reassure her that he had chosen her, for all the mares in the world he had chosen one of the quietest! She hadn't had to pursue or flirt, she'd just needed to be herself and words couldn't have described how elated she was at this. There were few in the world who had such acceptance, and she had found one of those rare creatures.

"Though I suspect that you will always chatter like this," she fell quiet as he nuzzled her and after a pause she returned it with a tenative nuzzle of her own, stretching her nose up to nudge lightly at his cheek. "Just as well that you do though...because my mentor speaks even more than you do and there is no avoiding a meeting with her...you know?" she murmured with a smile.

Huojin noticed a heightened sense of comfort between him and Farsiris. Now that he had admitted everything, he felt sort of like his other self again. Plus they were nuzzling each other and it was nice! He was starting to understand why his parents did such a thing! He watched her silently as she spoke, enjoying the radiance she always admitted even in her silence and quiet voice. Oh, he was a lucky fellow. He wanted to live in this moment for as long as he could. Or at least, enjoy Farsiris' company for as long as he could! And hopefully that could be possibly.

At the mention of meeting her mentor, he only nodded energetically as he always did. "I'd love to meet her." he then exclaimed while flicking his tail. "At least I'll be up to pace with how she speaks!" He could keep up with anybody, really. That was one good thing he did. "I've heard so much about where you've grown up that I'm looking forward to meeting those important to you." He wanted to see for himself what she meant, plus he was definitely interested to learn about 'normal' families up close.

"For now though.." he stared at the cave around them and sort of questioned the plan of action. "Do we want to keep steering forward?" he grinned, realizing he was happy with either choice she would desire.

Farsiris could hardly consider her family to be normal, she was aware that certain aspects of it were beyond dysfunctional. However she loved them dearly and they responded well to her afftections and attention. They supported each other, encouraged each other and while it could be incredibly loud during squabbles they were always there for each other. She had no complaints and while somewhat nervous as to how certain soquili would react (mostly her overly judgemental friend Ambroise) she kept her faith in them - they would like him.

She liked him, she was happy. That was all that mattered...or that's what they said more often than not!

Nevertheless she had no intention of immediately diverting him from the cave, she had promised to show him some of the sights and dragging him off towards her surrogate mother wasn't the best idea. In all actuality it would have been rude to drag him that high up the slopes so soon when the paths were considerably more rocky. The spirits knew she didn't want him to be in pieces again by having him haul his backside up an even steeper set of hills... Although she knew that some might also find that terribly entertaining.

At least she could nurse him better?

She was terrible!

Shaking her head to rid herself of her musings she offered a small chuckle and motioned forwards at the mention of his choice of direction. In short, to walk forward would result in them tumbling over a ledge. It wasn't his fault, so distracted had they been that he most likely hadn't seen it but years in this location had taught the mare to be wary.

"Well, the path is actually to your left," she indicated with another small nod and carefully nudged him in the appropriate direction. Her mentor and family could wait just a little longer...

[[I'd say finish it here and leave it unknown as to how their adventure went from there. 8D ]]
